Induction Motor Energy Efficiency Investigation †

Publication Name: Engineering Proceedings

Publication Date: 2024-01-01

Volume: 79

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The energy efficiency of the induction motor (IM) is extremely important in the drives of electric vehicles. The first part of the article examines the possibilities of modifying the torque and efficiency curves in order to realize high-torque work points more efficiently by modifying the motor’s impedances. Later, it analyzes the flux-dependent changes in the highly load-dependent efficiency based on the literature. The FEM-type investigations of the experimental IM development carried out at the Vehicle Industry Research Center Institute of the Széchenyi István University offer new control options for increasing the efficiency of work points with lower torque and speed as well as for modifying the examined torque curve sections.

Publication Date: 2017-06-07

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 523-528

Description:

This paper presents a symmetric winded PMSM which is connected by all in part coil to a supply system at low voltage of 48-100 V DC, developed by Research Center of Vehicle Industry in Szechenyi University. It has several benefits of this winding system its separate supply. The motor construction is slightly different from the general constructions; its running and control are different but on the whole offers new availabilities and prosperous solutions as well as electrical motor features. The paper presents some results of investigations mainly in the control for this divided kind of PMSM which was patented in 2014.

Optimum control strategy for PMSM in field-weakening region by constant power

Publication Name: Electrical Systems for Aircraft Railway and Ship Propulsion Esars

Publication Date: 2015-05-04

Volume: 2015-May

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

For electric vehicles an applied control of PMSM is the flux weakening operation for extending the region over nominal speed on nominal voltage. This paper deals with these questions and its impacts. Proved methods increase the torque angle and the d axis directed component of the stator current vector reduces the main flux, but the eddy current loss developing in magnets became significant. These impacts and their reduction need several investigations. This paper preents the possibilities and limits of flux-weakening for a given PMSM, and gives a usable optimum control strategy on nominal power's region by varied speeds.

Publication Name: 2013 IEEE International Electric Vehicle Conference Ievc 2013

Publication Date: 2013-12-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

In this paper the simulation models by Matlab for an urban-metro railcar and some newer methods for reducing the need value of capacitance for energy storage are presented. The achievable decreasing ratio of the needed energy storage at SCAP is 25 to 40 % with this improved energy control method. It was been investigated the supercapacitor and the Li-ion battery as hybrid energy storage system and its effectiveness under operation of a suitable energy control system. Mass reduction of our hybrid storage system is significant. © 2013 IEEE.
