ENOUGH FROM THE LAMELLA

Publication Name: Metszet

Publication Date: 2024-01-01

Volume: 15

Issue: 3

Page Range: 34-41

Description:

I think there is not a Hungarian architect who has not asked themself at least once what Hungarian architecture is. Therefore, what steps can be taken when invited to redevelop the external appearance of an offi- ce in the centre of Pest. How does one achieve an architecture that in- forms a Hungarian identity? Does the choice of employing external lamella wall systems answer this is terms of aesthetic or even contem- porary technological implementation? Or is the lamella something that should be passed over as it reduces a building to being an identity/na- tionality free shell? The intention is acceptable, but at what cost?

From Small Houses to Small Houses: Cabins

Publication Name: Metszet

Publication Date: 2024-01-01

Volume: 15

Issue: 2

Page Range: 12-19

Description:

The design of new single occupancy cabins starts with the idea of "a box or house, possibly a box-like house" where the process of generating geometric balance initiates the external form, within this limiting geometry organization of functions needs to be approached in such a manner that the need to design individual items of furniture follows on naturally. Questions of local identity are informed by the choice of materials and general orientation, bearing in mind that architects do not generate a regional character, as this is an act of community over time.

BEYOND FIATFALVA DAM ARE NO TROUT, NOR WEALTHY MEN

Publication Name: Metszet

Publication Date: 2024-01-01

Volume: 15

Issue: 5

Page Range: 26-33

Description:

Commenting on the state of contemporary architecture in Transylvania leads to certain contradictions, a falling ethnic Hungarian population, abandoned rural buildings, palaces, barns and churches. Maybe there are no contemporary buildings, only restoration projects, or the act of restoration acts as a contemporary indicator of new beginnings. Elements of the design being executed in stainless steel or glazed installations are signs of high-tech architecture.
