Description:
Gender inequality remains a persistent challenge in cybersecurity and the broader ICT sector, despite technological advancements and the expansion of digital ecosystems. Women continue to be underrepresented, particularly in leadership positions, and face barriers ranging from socio-cultural norms and workplace discrimination to limited access to mentoring and career information, as well as threats of online harassment. This research investigates the structural, organizational, and technological factors that contribute to these disparities, treating cyberspace as a dynamic digital ecosystem. The study employs a qualitative research approach, integrating policy discourse analysis of European Union strategies, including the Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 with secondary data evaluation from key industry reports. Preliminary findings indicate that, while opportunities exist within digital ecosystems, persistent barriers require integrated strategies to achieve gender equality that address both the technical and the socio-cultural dimension of the resilient digital workforce.
