Fuzzy-based multi-stroke character recognizer

No authors available

Publication Name: 2013 Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems, FedCSIS 2013

Publication Date: 2013-12-01

Volume:

Issue:

Page Range: 671-674

Description:

In this paper an extension for multi-stroke character recognition of FUzzy BAsed handwritten character Recognition (FUBAR) algorithm will be presented. First the basic concept of a single-stroke version will be overviewed; in the second part of the paper the new version of the algorithm with multi-stroke symbol support will be introduced, which deploy the same algorithm overviewed in the first part and use flat and hierarchical rule bases. © 2013 Polish Information Processing Society.

Mercenaries reloaded? Applicability of the notion of 'mercenaries' in relation to private military companies and their employees

Publication Name: Acta Juridica Hungarica

Publication Date: 2013-12-01

Volume: 54

Issue: 4

Page Range: 367-383

Description:

The purpose of this study is to present the notion of mercenaries laid down in literature and in international law, as its applicability to private military companies and their employees so. The first chapter examines the use of the notion of mercenaries in literature and in international treaties. It explores whether the definition laid down in international treaties, reflect customary international law, or not. The second chapter of the study scrutinizes the various conditions listed in the afore-mentioned notions and tries to find out whether and to what degrees private military companies and their employees meet them. The final conclusion of this paper - of the perspective of international law - is that private military companies and their employees, in accordance with the rules of international law, cannot be considered mercenaries. © 2013 Akadémiai Kiadó.

The role of the atomic force function in molecular mechanics simulations for carbon nanostructures

Publication Name: Iop Conference Series Materials Science and Engineering

Publication Date: 2013-12-01

Volume: 47

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Molecular mechanics studies were performed on structures consisting of Y junctions of carbon nanotubes. Tensile simulations were run on the same structure, wherein atomic force functions of various shape were used. According to the numerical test results the behavior of the structure, the failure site and the failure process could be determined irrespective of the shape of the force function. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Az élet természeti alapjainak védelmi rendszerei

Publication Name: Tarsadalomkutatas

Publication Date: 2013-12-01

Volume: 31

Issue: 4

Page Range: 386-402

Description:

Environmental protection, habitat protection, protection of the living world and nature conservation share the same foundations. All these four protective systems make an effort - with an aim of protecting the society - to protect "the natural bases of life", which are threatened by damaging and over-consuming by humankind. The aspect of organisations (subjective side), the special environmental organs make an essential part of the system of protection. Finally, the specific protective device of nature conservation and habitat protection, the zone system of protected areas gets into the focus of the examination, which also can be considered as a complex defensive system of the natural bases of life.

Knowledge management strategy as a chance of small and medium-sized enterprises

Publication Name: International Business Strategy and Entrepreneurship an Information Technology Perspective

Publication Date: 2013-11-30

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 52-81

Description:

This chapter shows how SMEs can compete with multinational companies. This chapter was written on the basis of practical research results. In this research, Hungarian and Slovakian SMEs were investigated from the view of a Knowledge-Based economy. The question was how they can face future challenges. The researchers wanted to know how SMEs handle their chance which is hidden in their way of thinking about a knowledge strategy. As a result, these companies seem to be afraid, uncertain, and think their success is only luck or a current incident. They live a 'fly by night' existence, and they do not feel the importance of development, of studying, of knowledge; they run after work and money. These enterprises feel that they have to survive, and to this, they need money and financial capital. Therefore, knowledge and studying fall behind.
