Application of Spectroscopic Techniques in Heavy Metal Analysis for Meat Quality Assurance

Publication Name: Ceylon Journal of Science

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 54

Issue: 2

Page Range: 507-514

Description:

Quality assurance is a critical aspect of human food. Meat is one of the major high-quality protein suppliers to the human body and plays an essential role in our daily meals. With industrialization, heavy metals became major food contaminants leading to serious health risks. FAAS (Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry), GFAAS (Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry), ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) and ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry) are analytical methods that promise consumer safety by ensuring quality assurance of meat and meat products with their accurate and reliable analytical capacity. Their characteristics may vary with their theory of analysis and advancement of applied technology. Dry ashing, wet digestion, microwave-assisted digestion, and ultrasonic extraction like different sample preparation techniques or direct analysis after slurry preparation like simple sample preparation, are involved with spectroscopic analytical methods to prevent the sample matrix effect. These methods are validated based on parameters such as LOD (Limit of Detection), LOQ (Limit of Quantification), recovery %, relative standard deviation, and characteristic mass to ensure their reliability.

A note on f-weighted possibilistic correlation for identical marginal possibility distributions

Publication Name: Fuzzy Sets and Systems

Publication Date: 2011-02-16

Volume: 165

Issue: 1

Page Range: 106-110

Description:

Fullér, Mezei and Várlaki defined the f-weighted possibilistic correlation coefficient as a new measure of interactivity of fuzzy numbers, which can be determined from the joint possibility distribution. At the end of their paper they formulated problems in connection with the lower limit of the f-weighted possibilistic correlation coefficient, if we know only the marginal distributions. In this paper we will discuss these problems. © 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

One succeeds and the other fails? Criminal justice in times of emergency

Publication Name: Frontiers in Political Science

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 7

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The Government has declared a state of emergency for the whole territory of Hungary for a period of 210 days from 1 November 2022 in view of the armed conflict and humanitarian disaster in Ukraine and to avert and manage the consequences of such conflicts in Hungary. Under the rules of emergency legislation, the Government is thus once again in a constitutional position to suspend the application of certain laws, derogate from statutory provisions and take other extraordinary measures. On the basis of this authorization, Government Decree 3/2023 (I. 12.) on the different application of certain provisions concerning the execution of sentences during a state of emergency was adopted at the beginning of the year, according to which, upon the request of a non-Hungarian convict, the national commander of the penitentiary system shall suspend the execution of the sentence until the transfer of the sentence, provided that certain conditions are met and there are no grounds for exclusion. Based on a detailed analysis of the legislation, it can be concluded that in practice this may also mean the remission of the remaining part of the sentence, since the receiving foreign state must ensure the enforcement of the sentence under Hungarian rules, but it is questionable whether this will be done. This outcome, however, runs counter to the fundamental principle of criminal justice, the principle of proportionate punishment, as it discriminates between offenders based on nationality. How compatible is this solution with the fundamental principles of the rule of law, such as non-discrimination or the principle of the obligation to be punished?

Analysis of the wear behavior of combustion engine components using radionuclide-technique

Publication Name: Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering

Publication Date: 2013-07-04

Volume: 189 LNEE

Issue: VOL. 1

Page Range: 171-181

Description:

The aim of this study is the analysis of wear behaviour of a timing chain in real engine operation in terms of the influence of variable operating parameters. Further experiments were carried out with used motor oil. During the wear measurements could be seen, that the variation of the oil temperature showed a minor effect on the wear behaviour. However the use of aged oil showed a significant change of the wear behaviour. This means, that in the design of chain drive systems and oil change intervals this correlation has to be considered for maintaining the targeted engine life. Fundamental experiments on a tribometer using different types of carbon black oil will help to describe this phenomena more accurately. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Eclipse SUMO and Unity 3D integration for emission studies based on driving behaviour in virtual reality environment

Publication Name: Procedia Computer Science

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 257

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 396-403

Description:

This paper explores the development of a traffic simulator that harnesses the power of OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, integrating it into a unified framework using Blender, SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility), and Unity 3D. The project aims to provide a realistic and versatile platform for simulating complex transportation scenarios for urban planning, traffic management, and virtual environment creation. The process begins with the extraction and preprocessing of OSM data, ensuring the representation of road networks and geographic features. Blender, a 3D modelling software, is used to visualise and enhance the environment. The resulting 3D models are loaded into Unity. SUMO - a microscopic traffic simulation software - plays a role in modelling vehicle dynamics, traffic flow, and interactions within the simulated environment. Via an integration hub, bringing together the visuality of Unity 3D environment and SUMO's precise traffic simulation. Through this collaboration, the simulator offers real-time interaction and analysis. With the help of SUMO's free emissions module, the pollution resulting from driving behaviour can be measured not only at the individual level but also the impact on the network as well. The combination of OSM data, SUMO, Blender, and Unity 3D provides a powerful and free tool to study and optimise urban mobility, ultimately contributing to the development of smarter and more sustainable transportation systems.

Management of uncertainty in visual examination procedure in building diagnostics with fuzzy expert system

Publication Name: Isciii 09 4th International Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Informatics Proceedings

Publication Date: 2009-12-28

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 31-40

Description:

Every building diagnostic analysis begins with a detailed visual check of deteriorations of building elements. During this process the identification of touched components and the circumstances of the given failure are described. A properly completed survey determines the way of further analyses and interventions to be done. Thus the visual check may support indirectly the decisions which deal with the life cycle of the examined building or its part. In the case of ad hoc and independent surveys the decision-supporting ability of the traditional visual examination procedures proves to be inconsiderable, if the subjects of the surveys belong to the same property. Due to several subjective factors the evaluation of these surveys and their comparative analysis are almost impossible. It is supposable that the fuzzy expert system proposed in this article may remedy the problem mentioned above, owing to the peculiarities of this professional field (application of a variety of linguistic variables, uncertainty originated from different sources, assumptions based on experiences and observations). This paper sketches out the facts of uncertainties of the visual examination procedure in building diagnostics, then describes the architecture and components of the fuzzy expert system. Thereafter, the operation of this method is illustrated through three building diagnostics case studies. © 2009 IEEE.

The Dissonances of Asbestos Exposure and the Concept of Sustainable Settlements in the Light of the European Union's 2023 Asbestos Neutrality Objective

Publication Name: Chemical Engineering Transactions

Publication Date: 2023-01-01

Volume: 107

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 145-150

Description:

Until now, the majority of asbestos-related research has focused on the health challenges of asbestos and the waste management challenges caused by asbestos cement products. The limitation of the research is that there is no uniform indicator or index formation method available for asbestos exposure and involvement on a national scale. Given the neglect of the topic, there are no uniform risk assessment and situation assessment procedures available, neither, as a result, indicators or public databases. The aim of this paper is that, in parallel with the European Union's 2023 asbestos neutrality objectives, asbestos exposure is examined as a kind of indicator to assess the actual level of development of those member states that are progressing along the sustainable development goals. The focus of the paper is an analysis of the situation rather than the discovery of new scientific results. Using an integrated index formation method, the relationship between the indicators of sustainable development and the volume of asbestos consumption in the countries in the focus group is examined. It was established that the average value of the sustainable development index corrected for asbestos exposure in relation to the EU-27 is 0.428, which means a medium level of involvement. A comparison of the two indexes shows that there are significant differences. The average correction rate is -47.4 %. Based on the results and according to previous literature sources, asbestos exposure is an unexamined segment of efforts for sustainable development, which can also result in significant dissonances.
