Increasing Navigation Safety by Introducing the Modern DunaInfoControl Control System

Publication Name: Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering

Publication Date: 2025-08-15

Volume: 53

Issue: 4

Page Range: 406-419

Description:

The study presents a development proposal coordinated by the Hungarian Academy of Engineering (MMA) for intelligent navigation management on the Danube. We analyse the introduction of a security-enhancing central control system based on the IDM model. The publication reviews the main issues related to navigation safety in Hungary. Without claiming to be exhaustive, in the field of water transport control theory and practical applications, important players include HUN-REN SZTAKI, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Széchenyi István University, HungaroControl Zrt. and the Water Police. This development requires combining modern control theory and a high-capacity 5G network. The program proposes the implementation of intelligent control in the first phase in the Budapest area, between river km 1660 in the north and river km 1633 in the south. This is because accidents much larger than the "Hableány" boat tragedy that occurred in Budapest on the evening of May 29, 2019, at 9:05 p.m., may occur in this section in the future. Consider, for example, the appearance of convoys transporting 6000-8000 tons of dangerous goods on the Danube. These represent a very serious source of danger in the event of collisions with the Budapest bridge piers. The proposal also intends to support the RSOE river IT system (developed by NOVOFER Zrt.), which has been built and operating since the end of 2018.

Mathematical Description of the Universal IDM - some Comments and Application

Publication Name: Acta Polytechnica Hungarica

Publication Date: 2023-01-01

Volume: 20

Issue: 7

Page Range: 99-115

Description:

The aim of the study is to define and mathematically describe the universal IDM. An important result of this research is that the model uses a single system of differential equations. It is able to simultaneously describe the dynamic operations of the IDM systems for all different vehicle sequences. The aim of the study is to support the driving of autonomous vehicles by taking into account the dynamic variations in the state characteristics of traffic processes. The approach used is motivated by important issues in current modelling techniques that address significant economic problems in the application of large-scale ITS network models. This also points to a new opportunity in the key area of vehicle traffic management, in the related targeted fundamental research, particularly in the analysis of traffic processes in large-scale dynamic networks.

Logistic conception for real-time based info-communication system applied in selective waste gathering

Publication Name: 2017 IEEE 14th International Scientific Conference on Informatics Informatics 2017 Proceedings

Publication Date: 2017-03-27

Volume: 2018-January

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 203-209

Description:

Decreasing of available raw materials, fossil energy source and new approach made recycling necessary and inevitable. For recycling selective waste areas have been placed, where inhabitants can drop their waste for free. Waste containers have different saturation time, while gathering process is predefined, therefore independently whether it is needed or not they will be emptied. Further problem is that there is no optimization on the way to the container, which results in serious environmental load (noise and air pollution). This study deals with high level route optimization to minimize environmental load concerning noise and air pollution and by the application of real-time communication the appropriate containers are only going to be emptied.

Hybrid model of vehicle and traffic for combined dynamic analysis

Publication Name: International Journal of Heavy Vehicle Systems

Publication Date: 2017-01-01

Volume: 24

Issue: 2

Page Range: 97-112

Description:

Analysis and research of vehicle dynamics processes is a complex task that should be carried out taking into account the real traffic and environment. To this end, the examined hybrid model is the union of the vehicle dynamics model and the traffic network process model. In their relationship, drivers or automatic pilots play a decisive role, who take into account both systems alike.

Description:

This paper introduces mathematical modelling, the development of diagnostic methods and the design of producing a prototype. Its aim is to establish a new, accredited research laboratory for the testing and quality assurance of hybrid and electric driven vehicles. The task is very complex and it puts special emphasis on environmental and safety issues. It highlights the fact that its application under laboratory conditions establishes a new situation for measurement. It points out that the complex research which develops diagnostic techniques and procedures related to real operation and urban environment, moreover, applies optimal planning methods still has novelty.

Mathematical modeling of automotive supply chain networks

Publication Name: Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering

Publication Date: 2016-01-01

Volume: 44

Issue: 3

Page Range: 181-186

Description:

The aim of this research is to set up a possible model for describing automotive supply chain networks. The work to be presented analyses the real-world environment and its changes in a broader view. The research provides the extension of the mathematical modeling domain, accordingly. The paper studies the basic relational structure of automotive supply chain, where the methodology is determined by the classical business strategic levels. This is done by combining the theories of network and theories for traffic systems. We uncover the hidden relational parallelism between the automotive supply chain and positive systems, complex networks and find that the industry network shows some similar scale-free structural properties indicating the existence of a typical dependence and dominance structure with complex dynamical behavior.

Analysis of the complex environmental impact on urban trajectories

Publication Name: Proceedings of the ASME Design Engineering Technical Conference

Publication Date: 2015-01-01

Volume: 9

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Modeling traffic processes on large-scale road networks leads to the application of positive non-linear systems, Luenberger (1979). Running profiles can be gained from the applied large-size network model based on previous validations, which are sufficiently complex, complicated and built up by accelerations, decelerations and frequent stops. To develop accelerated methods for analyzing complex environmental impact on urban trajectories Our planned researches on emission encourage the further standardization and beyond that, the bilateral interoperability. According to our goals we point out on the differences, which have to be taken into account in the urban traffic also, and of which the lab measurements may vary. Real processes operate like this, which differ from those applied in laboratories and on roller brake test bench. In reality, however, vehicle emission strongly depends on driving style; moreover, it is also affected by any change in traffic flow. Significant differences can be realized in various regions and countries. The role of the optimal vehicle control is highlighted in every case. The same can be stated of the environmental loads of pollutant emissions and concerning the vehicle and environment dynamic. The detailed analysis introduced above has big impact on further automotive researches as being rapid and applicable for big number of vehicles providing statistical support.
