Do climate change policies, and environmental regulations affect the financial performance: policy-based analysis in context of green innovation

In these modern times, developed and developing economies use different means and strategies to attain economic growth and financial development. Still, environmental recovery instruments are not yet empirically explored in developed regions. The prime objective of this study is to unveil the nexus between electricity use, environmental policies, and financial development to report novel approaches through the lens of sustainable development. The present research examines the heterogeneous impacts of climate policies and ecological taxes on financial development. In doing so, the study has considered greener energy and institutional quality variables as policy factors for financial development. The authors employ the 29 OECD economies data from 1994 to 2020. This research gathered the data from authentic sources such as the OECD, the World Bank, and ICRG. The pre-estimation diagnostic (residual cross-section dependence, unit root, and cointegration) tests asserted cross-section dependence between countries, variables’ stationarity, and cointegration between the variables. Due to the asymmetrical behaviour of data shown by the Jarque and Bera (Int Stat Rev 55:163–172, 1987) test, this study uses non-parametric panel quantile regression. It asserts environmental policies and green electricity use have a substantial yet mixed influence on financial development. In contrast, trade openness and GDP are the significant factors of economic development in the region. Overall, Environmental taxes adversely affect financial development in developed countries across quantiles. This study suggests promoting and improving green investment, trade, and efficient environmental policies to encourage financial development in developed countries without affecting ecological quality.

Enhancing decision-making with linear diophantine multi-fuzzy set: application of novel information measures in medical and engineering fields

This study offers a comprehensive analysis of novel information for linear diophantine multi-fuzzy sets and illustrates its applications in practical scenarios. We introduce innovative similarity metrics tailored for linear diophantine multi-fuzzy sets, including Cosine similarity, Jaccard similarity, and Exponential similarity. Additionally, we propose Entropy, Inclusion, and Distance measures, providing a robust theoretical foundation supported by developed theorems that explain the interactions between these metrics. The practical implications of these theoretical advancements are demonstrated through various case studies. Specifically, we apply the similarity measures to predict preeclampsia, a severe condition affecting pregnant women, showcasing their potential in medical diagnostics. The entropy measure is used to identify the optimal materials manufacturing method for medical surgical robots, underscoring its importance in ensuring patient safety and the effectiveness of medical procedures. Furthermore, the inclusion measure is employed in pattern recognition tasks, highlighting its utility in complex data analysis. The comparative and superiority analysis shows the effectiveness of our research. The novel aspect of this study is the implementation of information metrics for LDMFS. These efforts aim to enhance the impact and practical applicability of linear diophantine multi-fuzzy sets, fostering innovation and improving outcomes across multiple fields.

Detection of tick-borne pathogens in the pangolin tick, Amblyomma javanense, from Vietnam and Laos, including a novel species of Trypanosoma

Two species of Southeast Asian pangolins (the Chinese pangolin, Manis pentadactyla and the Malayan or Sunda pangolin, Manis javanica) are critically endangered species. Therefore, knowledge on their parasitic infections is very important, especially considering ticks that can transmit which pathogens. In this study, 32 pangolin ticks (Amblyomma javanense), that were collected in Vietnam and Laos, were analyzed with molecular methods for the presence of tick-borne pathogens. Two members of the family Anaplasmataceae were shown to be present in 14 pangolin ticks, i.e., Candidatus Anaplasma pangolinii and an Ehrlichia sp. In three ticks, a single Rickettsia genotype was also detected, and in seven ticks four 18S rRNA sequence variants of a Babesia sp. Most importantly, a novel protozoan agent, tentatively called here Trypanosoma sp. “PAT14” was detected in one A. javanense nymph. These results imply the first molecular finding of any species of Anaplasma, Ehrlichia and Babesia in pangolin ticks from Vietnam and Laos. On the other hand, detection of a new tick-associated Trypanosoma sp. in A. javanense from Southeast Asia is not only important from a taxonomic point of view, but it is also the first finding of any trypanosomes in the genus Amblyomma in Eurasia and adds pangolins to the potential placental mammalian hosts of any trypanosomes.

Transportation network realization with an optimization method

In connection with the network realization problem the main questions of the algorithm are which edges to choose and what is the budget consequence of that. These problems can be solved by exact optimization methods, but in this case the number of computational steps (additions and comparisons) is an exponential function of the number of nodes. For this reason usually heuristic methods are chosen for solving these problems. Some special problems can be formulated as maximal flow problems. To get the solution we use only maximal flow and shortest route algorithms. Thus we decrease the number of computations, but the size of the network will grow. In this paper we describe this algorithm to solve the network realization problem. Then we give a transportation network realization problem and show how to solve this problem by the some algorithms. © 2009 IEEE.

Generally, the most frequently used structural materials are metals which have high strength and stiffness. However, there are many cases, when other important properties come to the fore as well as high deformation by elastic behavior, high viscosity namely good damping effect. The metals do not have these above mentioned properties, but the rubber does. The rubber - thanks to its elastic behavior - is able to establish an elastic connection between hard and brittle structural elements, however, has high load carrying capacity. Vehicle components made of rubber usually exhibit large deformations. Cyclic finite deformations may induce increasing temperature in hyperelastic materials. This case - where changes in deformation and in temperature occur simultaneously - is called coupled thermomechanical problem. Both the mechanical and thermal processes have their own governing equations, that is why special techniques are needed for the computation. A special technique will be presented for solving coupled problems, this is operator split method. The goal of this paper is to show how to solve the coupled thermomechanical problem by the principle of virtual power and the principle of virtual temperature, and how to apply them together.

A Novel Evaluation Framework for Medical LLMs: Combining Fuzzy Logic and MCDM for Medical Relation and Clinical Concept Extraction

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a crucial element of modern technology, especially in the healthcare sector, which is apparent given the continuous development of large language models (LLMs), which are utilized in various domains, including medical beings. However, when it comes to using these LLMs for the medical domain, there’s a need for an evaluation platform to determine their suitability and drive future development efforts. Towards that end, this study aims to address this concern by developing a comprehensive Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) approach that is specifically designed to evaluate medical LLMs. The success of AI, particularly LLMs, in the healthcare domain, depends on their efficacy, safety, and ethical compliance. Therefore, it is essential to have a robust evaluation framework for their integration into medical contexts. This study proposes using the Fuzzy-Weighted Zero-InConsistency (FWZIC) method extended to p, q-quasirung orthopair fuzzy set (p, q-QROFS) for weighing evaluation criteria. This extension enables the handling of uncertainties inherent in medical decision-making processes. The approach accommodates the imprecise and multifaceted nature of real-world medical data and criteria by incorporating fuzzy logic principles. The MultiAtributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis (MAIRCA) method is employed for the assessment of medical LLMs utilized in the case study of this research. The results of this research revealed that “Medical Relation Extraction” criteria with its sub-levels had more importance with (0.504) than “Clinical Concept Extraction” with (0.495). For the LLMs evaluated, out of 6 alternatives, (A4) “GatorTron S 10B” had the 1st rank as compared to (A1) “GatorTron 90B” had the 6th rank. The implications of this study extend beyond academic discourse, directly impacting healthcare practices and patient outcomes. The proposed framework can help healthcare professionals make more informed decisions regarding the adoption and utilization of LLMs in medical settings.

Railway tracks at bridge approaches experience significant vertical stiffness transitions, leading to adverse effects such as settlement and increased dynamic loads, accelerating track degradation. This study explores various structural solutions, including geosynthetics, reinforced ballast, transition slabs, under sleeper pads (USPs), under ballast mats (UBMs), jet grouting, and special rail fasteners. Despite their application, these solutions often fail due to their static nature. This paper introduces an adaptive approach using special rail fastenings with real-time adjustable stiffness. This system dynamically modifies rail support characteristics based on train speed and track conditions, improving track durability, ride quality, and maintenance strategies. The findings demonstrate the potential of adaptive systems to enhance railway infrastructure performance.

A measure of possibilistic correlation between marginal possibility distributions of a joint possibility distribution can be defined as (see Fullér, Mezei and Várlaki, An improved index of interactivity for fuzzy numbers, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, 165(2011), pp. 56-66) the weighted average of probabilistic correlations between marginal probability distributions whose joint probability distribution is defined to be uniform on the level sets of their joint possibility distribution. Using the averaging technique we shall discuss three quantities (correlation coefficient, correlation ratio and informational coefficient of correlation) which are used to measure the strength of dependence between two possibility distributions. We discuss the inverse problem, as we introduce a method to construct a joint possibility distribution for a given value of possibilistic correlation coefficient. We also discuss a special case when the joint possibility distribution is defined by the so-called weak t-norm and based on these results, we make a conjecture as an open problem for the range of the possibilistic correlation coefficient of any t-norm based joint distribution.
