Frequency- and Temperature-Dependent Uncertainties in Hysteresis Measurements of a 3D-Printed FeSi wt6.5% Material

Additive manufacturing of soft magnetic materials is a promising technology for creating topologically optimized electrical machines. High-performance electrical machines can be made from high-silicon-content FeSi alloys. Fe-6.5wt%Si material has exceptional magnetic properties; however, manufacturing this steel with the classical cold rolling methodology is not possible due to the brittleness of this material. Laser powder bed fusion technology (L-PBF) offers a solution to this problem. Finding the optimal printing parameters is a challenging task. Nevertheless, it is crucial to resolve the brittleness of the created materials so they can be used in commercial applications. The temperature dependence of magnetic hysteresis properties of Fe-6.5wt%Si materials is presented in this paper. The magnetic hysteresis properties were examined from 20 °C to 120 °C. The hysteresis measurements were made by a precision current generator–based hysteresis measurement tool, which uses fast Fourier transformation–based filtering techniques to increase the accuracy of the measurements. The details of the applied scalar hysteresis sensor and the measurement uncertainties were discussed first in the paper; then, three characteristic points of the static hysteresis curve of the ten L-PBF-manufactured identical toroidal cores were investigated and compared at different temperatures. These measurements show that, despite the volumetric ratio of the porosities being below 0.5%, the mean crack length in the samples is not significant for the examined samples. These small defects can cause a significant 5% decrement in some characteristic values of the examined hysteresis curve.

β-conglycinin (β-CG) is a prominent storage protein belonging to the globulin family in soybean (Glycine max) seeds. Along with other soybean proteins, it serves as an important source of essential amino acids and high-quality nutrition. However, the digestibility and nutritional value of β-CG are key factors affecting the nutritional profile of soy-based foods. The heterotrimeric, secondary, and quaternary structures of β-CG, particularly the spatial arrangement of its α, α’, and β subunits, influence its functional properties. Considering these aspects, β-CG emerges as a significant protein with diverse applications in the food and health sectors. Therefore, this review explores β-CG's composition, structure, function, health implications, and industrial uses. Salient discussions are presented on its molecular structure, nutrition, digestibility, allergenicity, and techno-functions including emulsification, solubility, gelling, and structure–function complexities. Overall, the multifaceted potential of β-CG in the healthcare sector and the food industry is evident.

In this research, Hungarian and Slovakian SMEs were investigated from the view of a Knowledge-Based economy. The question was how they can face future challenges. The researchers wanted to know how SMEs handle their chance which is hidden in their way of thinking about a knowledge strategy. As a result, these companies seem to be afraid, uncertain, and think their success is only luck or a current incident. They live a 'fly by night' existence, and they do not feel the importance of development, of studying, of knowledge; they run after work and money. These enterprises feel that they have to survive, and to this, they need money and financial capital. Therefore, knowledge and studying fall behind.

Accomplishing purchaser compliance is one of the significant corporate challenges of our time. All products are sold together with the associated logistics service, so it is important that the logistics environment of a company is properly designed in order to meet the objectives of the logistics strategy. In this paper, we present the combined application of Fuzzy system and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) techniques, which are already used effectively in many areas to study sub-processes. Generally, input values are determined as a fuzzy number, in this paper we use fuzzy to evaluate the values. In addition, we have developed a system to examine the compatibility of specific strategic tools and objectives with each other and the usefulness of specific elements for both the customer and the service provider. Using the new approach analysis, we developed a Fuzzy QFD assessment method, we can examine the coherence of logistics processes and technological parameters based on customer needs by comparing different options and alternative solutions. The analysis sheds light on the internal coherence of logistics strategies, thereby clarifying whether the aims that the company has defined can be achieved with the available, planned tools.

The Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is one of the most extensively studied NP-hard graph search problems. Many researchers published numerous approaches for quality solutions, applying various techniques in order to find the optimum (least cost) or semi optimum solution. Moreover, there are many different extensions and modifications of the original problem, The Time Dependent Traveling Salesman Problem (TD TSP) is a prime example. TD TSP indeed was one of the most realistic extensions of the original TSP towards assessment of traffic conditions [1]. Where the edges between nodes are assigned different cost (weight), considering whether they are traveled during the rush hour periods or they cross the traffic jam regions. In such conditions edges are assigned higher costs [1]. In this paper we introduce an even more realistic approach, the IFTD TSP (Intuitionistic Fuzzy Time Dependent Traveling Salesman Problem); which is an extension of the classic TD TSP with the additional notion of intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Our core concept is to employ intuitionistic fuzzy sets of the cost between nodes to quantify traffic jam regions, and the rush hour periods. Since the intuitionistic fuzzy sets are generalizations of the original fuzzy sets [2], then our approach is a usefully extended, alternative model of the original abstract problem. By demonstrating the addition of intuitionistic fuzzy elements to quantify the intangible jam factors and rush hours, and creating an inference system that approximates the tour cost in a more realistic way [3]. Since our motivation is to give a useful and practical alternative (extension) of the basic TD TSP problem, the DBMEA (Discrete Bacterial Memetic Evolutionary Algorithm) was used in order to calculate the (quasi-)optimum or semi optimum solution. DBMEA has been proven to be effective and efficient in a wide segment of NP-hard problems, including the original TSP and the TD TSP as well [4]. The results from the runs based on the extensions of the family of benchmarks generated from the original TD TSP benchmark data set showed rather good and credible initial results.

Data-Based Assembly Patterns for Overall Equipment Effectiveness at Semi-Automatic Assembly Lines

In industrial practice, production planning is a key factor for manufacturers and suppliers. The entire planning process spans from the appearance of the customer demand to the fulfillment of the demand. Operational execution is based on pre-planned production processes and operations using properly allocated resources. The accurate planning of assembly operations within production is an extremely complex process in terms of efficiency. Predicting stochastically variable efficiencies is difficult due to the ever-changing manufacturing conditions. This paper defines typical assembly process situations for a semi-automatic assembly line and examines their consequence for the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Firstly, a literature review demonstrates the scientific relevance. Secondly, the classification of patterns based on assembly process description parameters is described taking into account the positive and negative effects on the OEE. In addition, the assembly patterns and their characteristics are illustrated through a real automotive example.

Linking gold prices, fossil fuel costs and energy consumption to assess progress towards sustainable development goals in newly industrialized countries

The continuous rise in global environmental challenges has led to urgency toward establishing a secure framework to achieve sustainable development goals. This study establishes a novel theoretical framework to analyze the role of energy prices, energy consumption, gold prices and economic growth on environmental degradation in newly industrialized economies. To realize sustainable development goals and foster environmental defence, this study utilizes CS-ARDL as the main econometric approach to investigate the asymmetric association between environmental degradation and relevant factors. We also use AMG, CS-DL, Driscoll-Kray and FGLS to enhance the robustness of our findings. Our econometric approach reveals that energy resource prices and renewable energy consumption reduce environmental degradation, while gold prices and fossil energy consumption elevate environmental pollutants. We also confirm the existence of the EKC hypothesis. The findings of our extensive analysis paved the way for a well-designed environmental policy for NIC economies should focus on renewable energy consumption, green investments, and structural changes.

In this paper we present a fuzzy resource allocation and assignment problem and propose two types of biologically inspired optimization methods to solve it. The resources in question are used for the maintenance of a network of nodes, each with its specific maintenance demands over time. Our goal is to assign sufficient capacities to storage locations and transport the appropriate amount of resources to the nodes at specific times during the simulation, so that the total cost of storage, transportation and malfunction is kept to a minimum. We use fuzzy numbers to describe the parameters of all the scenarios a solution has to fit, such as the maintenance demands of each node, the additional expenditure that malfunctions bring, and also the varying cost of transportation between nodes and storage locations. The optimization methods we used were the bacterial evolutionary algorithm and the particle swarm algorithm, both with a plain and a memetic variant complemented with gradient-based local search. All of them had a version where they only worked with crisp values, and one with fuzzy solutions. We tested the effectiveness of these four approaches on four examples with varying network sizes and durations. © 2013 IEEE.

On the Impact of Packet Reordering in MPT-GRE Multipath Networks

Several factors, such as network delays, congestion, differing path lengths, and varied processing durations at intermediary nodes, can cause out-of-order arrival of the packets, negatively affecting network performance, decreasing throughput, and increasing latency. When packets arrive out of order, the receiver may need to wait for missing packets before assembling a complete message, resulting in additional delays. Furthermore, some applications, like music and video streaming, require continuous and ordered data flow. Any out-of-order arrival of packets can result in jitter and decreased quality. To mitigate the impact of this issue in MPT-GRE multipath networks, MPT contains a packet reordering mechanism. In this paper, we designed a network topology that generated delays and limited the transmission speed on one of the paths. We investigated how the out-of-order arrival of packets influences the throughput aggregation capability of the MPT library with and without enabling the packet reordering feature of MPT. Our network throughput measurements show that by enabling MPT's packet reordering mechanism, MPT can efficiently aggregate the throughput of both symmetric and asymmetric channels.
