HOSVD based data representation and LPV model complexity reduction

No authors available

Publication Name: Applications of Mathematics and Computer Engineering - American Conference on Applied Mathematics, AMERICAN-MATH'11, 5th WSEAS International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications, CEA'11

Publication Date: 2011-06-17

Volume:

Issue:

Page Range: 164-169

Description:

In the framework of the paper a HOSVD-based approach is introduced for LPV model reduction and multidimensional data representation. By these approaches in case of model reduction the system matrix is expressed with the help of a so called core tensor and a system of specially determined polylinear orthonormal functions. Similar approach will be applied also in case of data representation. The paper gives a detailed description on how to determine the polylinear functions and the core tensor and how the model can be expressed and reduced with their help. Furthermore, the HOSVD-based domain proposed for data representation will be compared to the well known frequency domain - related to Fourier transformation - from the point of view of their common application possibilities and their effectiveness.

Publication Date: 2011-06-17

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 263-268

HOSVD based image processing techniques

Publication Name: Recent Researches in Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Engineering and Data Bases 10th Wseas International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Knowledge Engineering and Data Bases Aiked 11

Publication Date: 2011-06-17

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 297-302

Description:

In the framework of the paper an improved method for image resolution enhancement is introduced. The enhancement is performed through another representation domain, where the image function is expressed with the help of polylinear functions on higher order singular value decomposition (HOSVD) basis. The paper gives a detailed description on how to determine the polylinear functions corresponding to an image and how to process them in order to obtain a higher resolution image. Furthermore, the proposed approach and the Fourier-based approach will be compared from the point of view of their effectiveness.

Meta-level performance management of simulation of organizational information systems: The problem context state approach

Publication Name: Infocommunications Journal

Publication Date: 2011-06-01

Volume: 3

Issue: 2

Page Range: 20-27

Description:

Simulation has become a frequently used tool for the analysis of ICT and BP systems and for fitting the features of these systems with each other and with the goals of the enterprise. For example, the change management of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems is a significant generator of the need for the common analysis of ICT/BP systems and the use of simulation may play crucial role in their analysis. The paper formulates the problem context state approach to the meta-level performance management of simulation in the form of efficiency management principles. The formulation is based on the investigation of the features of the dynamic behavior of problem contexts - using the 4-state and 2-state models of problem context types - for the common modeling and simulation of organizational ICT/BP systems. The process of the occurrence and elimination of the methodological gap is explained too.

Structural components of lifestyle and beyond: The case of Hungary

Publication Name: Studies of Transition States and Societies

Publication Date: 2011-06-01

Volume: 3

Issue: 1

Page Range: 55-75

Description:

This paper deals with the question of when and how lifestyle and its components are important in social stratifi cation. There is considerable consensus among scholars about the structure of the society being a consequence of hierarchical dimensions like occupation, income, or wealth. Some thirty years ago, largely based on Bourdieu's "Distinction", a new paradigm emerged highlighting the lifestyle components and the value-oriented cultural and material consumption in stratifi cation. The idea refl ects the empirical fi nding that inequality between social classes has largely decreased, giving priority to horizontal lifestyle diff erentiation instead of vertical inequality dimensions. From a theoretical viewpoint, a challenge in the approach is fi nding out to what extent lifestyle typology is of a non-vertical character in reality. This social determination of lifestyle is investigated for Hungary when comparing an occupation-based typology with a consumption-based one. On the one hand, results reveal that the Effects of structural components on social status are stronger than those of lifestyle. On the other hand, lifestyle turns out to be less independent of social position and the top and bottom levels of the lifestyle typology are particularly predictable by structural measures.

Optimizing second-order differential equation systems

Publication Name: Electronic Journal of Differential Equations

Publication Date: 2011-05-09

Volume: 2011

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 1-16

Description:

In this article we study some continuous versions of the Fletcher-Reeves iteration for minimization described by a system of second-order differential equations. This problem has been studied in earlier papers [19, 20] under the assumption that the minimizing function is strongly convex. Now instead of the strong convexity, only the convexity of the minimizing function will be required. We will use the Tikhonov regularization [28, 29] to obtain the minimal norm solution as the asymptotically stable limit point of the trajectories. c 2011 Texas State University - San Marcos.

Eugenic bacterial memetic algorithm for fuzzy road transport traveling salesman problem

Publication Name: International Journal of Innovative Computing Information and Control

Publication Date: 2011-05-01

Volume: 7

Issue: 5 B

Page Range: 2775-2798

Description:

The aim of the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is to find the cheapest way of visiting all elements in a given set of cities (nodes) exactly once and returning to the starting point. In solutions presented in the literature costs of travel between nodes are based on Euclidean distances, the problem is symmetric and the costs are constant and crisp values. Practical application in road transportation and supply chains are often uncertain or fuzzy. The risk attitude depends on the features of the given operation. The model presented in this paper handles the fuzzy, time dependent nature of the TSP and also gives a solution for the asymmetric loss aversion by embedding the risk attitude into the fitness function of the eugenic bacterial memetic algorithm. Computational results are presented for different cases. The classical TSP is investigated along with a modified instance where some costs between the cities are described with fuzzy numbers. Two different techniques are proposed to evaluate the uncertainties in the fuzzy cost values. The time dependent version of the fuzzy TSP is also investigated and simulation experiences are presented. © 2011.
