Publication Date: 2011-09-22

Volume:

Issue:

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The paper deals with applicative aspects concerning the control of speed and position of a BLDC servo system with low but Variable in a given range Moment of Inertia (VMI). Detailed models of various applications, some control solutions are discussed and developed and part of them tested on the basis of the specific features of the plants with VMI. The adopted control solutions PI(D) control (as reference solution) and fuzzy control with homogenous and non-homogenous dynamics are briefly presented and some approaches regarding the methods are highlighted. Due to the applicability of the methods in the field of mechatronics applications with VMI (speed and positioning control of rapid plants), the presented aspects are of permanent actuality, and they offer directions of future research. © 2011 Scientific Assoc Infocomm.

A partial ordering approach for functional diversity

Publication Name: Theoretical Population Biology

Publication Date: 2011-09-01

Volume: 80

Issue: 2

Page Range: 114-120

Description:

Functional diversity is generally regarded as the constituent of biological diversity that considers how the species functional traits affect ecosystem processes. Due to its ecological relevance, a number of indices of functional diversity have been proposed to date based on distinct objectives and motivations. Such proliferation of indices can be at least partially overcome by a more fundamental mathematical approach. In this paper we propose an intrinsic ordering approach for abundance-weighted measures of functional diversity that is similar to the Lorenz curves used by ecologists for ordering evenness measures. We then discuss the relevance of a number of functional diversity indices that have a behavior compatible with the proposed partial ordering. © 2011 Elsevier Inc.

Control model for loading systems using higher order singular value decomposition

Publication Name: Proceedings 2011 IEEE International Conference on Computer Science and Automation Engineering Csae 2011

Publication Date: 2011-08-25

Volume: 3

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 754-758

Description:

In this paper we present a method for constructing a control model of loading systems based on higher order singular decomposition (HOSVD) of a tensor. Modern logistics need control systems that are able to develop and improve the material and information flow by automating the control processes. We propose the application of linear parameter varying (LPV) structure by which non-linear systems can be controlled on the basis of linear control theories. Describing the system, modeling logistic processes require many uncertain input parameters. Using the proposed method the complexity of the model can be kept on a lower level. © 2011 IEEE.

On the vertex degree indices of connected graphs

Publication Name: Chemical Physics Letters

Publication Date: 2011-08-25

Volume: 512

Issue: 4-6

Page Range: 283-286

Description:

We introduce a family of invariants defined in terms of positive functions of degrees of vertices in a graph. A member of the family that measures the average degree of neighbors of vertices in a graph is then investigated for the predictive potential for stability in the class of generalized fullerenes. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. Probabilistic correlation coefficients for possibility distributions

Publication Name: Ines 2011 15th International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems Proceedings

Publication Date: 2011-08-22

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 153-158

Description:

The goal of this paper to introduce two alternative definitions for the possibilistic correlation coefficient by equipping the level sets of a joint possibility distribution with nonuniform probability distributions which are directly derived from the shape function of the joint possibility distribution. We also show some examples for their exact calculation for joint possibility distributions defined by Mamdani, Łukasiewicz and Larsen triangular norms. © 2011 IEEE.

Video based urban traffic analysis in signalized intersections

Publication Name: Ines 2011 15th International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems Proceedings

Publication Date: 2011-08-22

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 319-324

Description:

Nowadays it is a frequent problem that, the infrastructure-development of land transportation comes up against space limits in many cases, moreover the growth of traffic doesn't slack up. This is particularly typical for urban traffic, effecting traffic jams, lags; not to mention the problem of air pollution. In this case the requirements of sustainable development can be satisfied by the optimization of the existing infrastructure. This procedure always begins by observing, collecting and processing information, followed by model creation. In the next step the identified model will help us to analyze even the most extreme situations through different simulation environments and to prepare different traffic analyses. © 2011 IEEE.

Optimization model of maintenance of engineering structures

Publication Name: Ines 2011 15th International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems Proceedings

Publication Date: 2011-08-22

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 73-76

Description:

In the PhD dissertation [6] optimization models were developed for the pavement management system, which could help planning the optimal maintenance work. This model can be generalized for those engineering structures, where there are several types of structures and for each structure there are many components with many different types of deterioration options and duty uses. The condition of application is: the deterioration of certain components not only depends on time, but on the extent of use. In this paper we would like to present the development of Engineering Structures Management System, the different models, and furthermore a practical application the deterioration model of car parts and the planning of their maintenance. © 2011 IEEE.

On tensor-product model based representation of neural networks

Publication Name: Ines 2011 15th International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems Proceedings

Publication Date: 2011-08-22

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 69-72

Description:

The approximation methods of mathematics are widely used in theory and practice for several problems. In the framework of the paper a novel tensor-product based approach for representation of neural networks (NNs) is proposed. The NNs in this case stand for local models based on which a more complex parameter varying model can numerically be reconstructed and reduced using the higher order singular value decomposition (HOSVD). The HOSVD as well as the tensor-product based representation of NNs will be discussed in detail. © 2011 IEEE.

New results in abduction process modeling

Publication Name: Ines 2011 15th International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems Proceedings

Publication Date: 2011-08-22

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 203-208

Description:

The paper gives new results related to the abduction process modeling. The results are based on a strategy that ensures, in minimum steps, the evidence necessary to deduce the correct hypothesis. An example that deals with two agents (robots), the Master and the Apprentice, that build a configuration of bricks, is inserted to exemplify the minimum length solution algorithm. The process of problem definition in this example involves both agents, and the cooperation between the agents is formalized in terms of decision trees. © 2011 IEEE.
