Description:

Incremental Sheet Forming is a prosperous process to manufacture sheet metal parts that is well adapted for prototypes or small batch production. Compared to traditional sheet forming technologies this relatively slow process is only profitable for the above mentioned production types but it can be used in different applications in automotive and aircraft industries, in architecture engineering and in medical aids manufacturing. In this paper indirectly obtained axial forming force on Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) of variable wall angle geometry were studied under different process parameters. The estimation of the forces on AlMn1Mg1 sheets with 0.22 mm initial thickness is performed by continuous monitoring of servo motor currents. The deformation states of the formed parts were analysed using the ARGUS optical strain measurement system of GOM. Interaction plot of forming speed, incremental depth, tool diameter and lubrication were also reported.

Human decisions at irregular overtakings

Publication Name: 6th IEEE Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications Coginfocom 2015 Proceedings

Publication Date: 2016-01-25

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 145-149

Description:

Overtaking (passing) is a high risk maneuver for road users, still drivers often accept this risk and moreover they often commit irregular overtaking maneuvers. The paper gives some overview on the background of traffic violations and irregular overtaking maneuvers. Driver's decisions before and during the irregular overtaking maneuvers are similar to the normal ones, except of the decision about committing the violation itself. A decision support application is recommended to reduce the number of overtaking violations and useless overtakings.

Active vibration control using DEAP actuator

Publication Name: Mechatronics Recent Technological and Scientific Advances

Publication Date: 2011-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 331-335

Description:

The dielectric electro active polymers actuators (DEAP) have several advantages over the conventional actuators, for example low cost, small weight and silent working. Because of the properties of the polymers, the precise control of this actuator type requires some special considerations. In this paper a dynamic model of a DEAP actuator was created. Additionally a closed loop control of a DEAP actuator in a vibration attenuator application was demonstrated.

Innovations in Offshore Wind: Reviewing Current Status and Future Prospects with a Parametric Analysis of Helical Pile Performance for Anchoring Mooring Lines

Publication Name: Journal of Marine Science and Engineering

Publication Date: 2024-07-01

Volume: 12

Issue: 7

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

This study examines the current status and future potential of the offshore wind sector. Offshore wind is pivotal in transitioning to a low-carbon society and meeting rising energy demands, despite being capital-intensive. The industry aims to develop larger-scale wind farms in deeper ocean locations, with projections indicating significant cost reductions. To explore deeper ocean areas, specialized foundations like floating platforms moored to the seabed are required. This study proposes helical piles anchored in the seabed as a method to secure mooring lines. Using Plaxis 3D, a parametric examination was conducted on helical piles with two plates: one fixed at the pile’s toe and the other varying in position between 0.5 and 13 m from the seabed surface. Load inclination angles (0, 20, 40, and 60 degrees) were used to simulate mooring line loads. Results indicate the optimal Zh/Z ratios for maintaining load-bearing capacity and stability: 0.12 (10 mm movements), 0.22 (25 mm), and 0.26 (50 mm) for small shaft diameters; and 0.34 (10 mm), 0.38 (25 mm), and 0.46 (50 mm) for large shaft diameters. These findings highlight the importance of specific load inclination angles based on shaft diameter and allowable movement for effective performance.

The generational division of online entertainment: The pleasure factors and manipulative effects of video streaming platforms

Publication Name: Statisztikai Szemle

Publication Date: 2023-01-01

Volume: 101

Issue: 8

Page Range: 715-738

Description:

Rise of video streaming services has not only increased the popularity of available platforms, but has also changed the content consumption habits of households, pushing aside the opportunities provided by traditional television. Among subscribers and users representing generations tied to digitalization highly diversified views can exist regarding the selection of video-sharing platforms and their impact on users' traditional lifestyles. A structural equation model (CB–SEM) was applied to test our theory related to different generations' relationship to digitalization. Based on the results, the generational classification of users only affects the significance of the platform selection criteria, while the manipulative effect of the service is independent of this. The analysis reveals the importance of further research in this area, as the factors that are important for enjoyment may differ among generations.

Mitochondrial Control Region Database of Hungarian Fallow Deer (Dama dama) Populations for Forensic Use

Publication Name: Animals

Publication Date: 2024-07-01

Volume: 14

Issue: 13

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The evidential value of an mtDNA match between biological remains and their potential donor is determined by the random match probability of the haplotype. This probability is based on the haplotype’s population frequency estimate. Consequently, implementing a population study representative of the population relevant to a forensic case is vital to correctly evaluating the evidence. The emerging number of poaching cases and the limited availability of such data emphasizes the need for an improved fallow deer mtDNA population databank for forensic purposes, including targeting the entire mitochondrial control region. By sequencing a 945-base-pair-long segment of the mitochondrial control region in 138 animals from five populations in Hungary, we found four different haplotypes, including one which had not yet been described. Our results, supplemented with data already available from previous research, do not support the possibility of determining the population of origin, although some patterns of geographical separation can be distinguished. Estimates of molecular diversity indicate similarly low mtDNA diversity (Hd = 0.565 and π = 0.002) compared to data from other countries. The calculated random match probability of 0.547 shows a high probability of coincidence and, therefore, a limited capacity for exclusion. Our results indicate that despite the overall low genetic diversity of mtDNA within the Hungarian fallow deer samples, a pattern of differentiation among the regions is present, which can have relevance from a forensic point of view.

Procedure for Battery Module Assessment in Hybrid Vehicles

Publication Name: 2024 23rd International Symposium on Electrical Apparatus and Technologies Siela 2024 Proceedings

Publication Date: 2024-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Electric and hybrid vehicles are becoming increasingly popular among environmentally conscious consumers, significantly impacting the automotive industry and the development of battery technologies. Fast diagnostic solutions are becoming critical as battery systems wear out over time and performance degrades. This study aims to investigate the battery system of a dedicated electric vehicle, the Toyota Prius, and its condition diagnostics. The test was performed by querying and saving the data using a custom Arduino-based specific measurement tool. The battery modules in the system were tested separately during the evaluation. During the condition assessment, the deviation from the average voltage of different sizes is analyzed and weighted individually depending on the size of the deviation. The analyses also cover more static and dynamic driving styles. The results show the influence of the driving style on the module voltage deviation. Furthermore, the method allows the detection and localization of weak battery modules in the system.
