Show Trials in the Countryside - Prosecution of the Top Leaders of the Soviet Republic in Veszprém County

Publication Name: West Bohemian Historical Review

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 12

Issue: 2

Page Range: 233-248

Description:

Under the counter-revolutionary regime that followed the Soviet Republic, those who did not flee abroad were prosecuted for "serving" the regime during the proletarian dictatorship. In the one-party system after 1945, which was sympathetic to the Soviet Republic, these procedures were viewed extremely negatively and described as a means of retaliation. A reassessment of the topic has begun in the present day. In this paper, I will evaluate the trials of two leaders of the proletarian dictatorship in Veszprém County, examining whether the proceedings and the verdicts in their cases were in accordance with the law in force, or whether there was a conceptual character to these proceedings.

WAYS OF IMPROVING OF ACTIVE CONTOUR METHODS IN COLON-OSCOPY IMAGE SEGMENTATION

Publication Name: Image Analysis and Stereology

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 41

Issue: 1

Page Range: 7-23

Description:

As colonoscopy is the standard screening approach for colorectal polyps, and the first step of the correct classification and the efficient automatic diagnostics is the accurate detection and segmentation of the ex-isting polyps, it is worth researching systematically, how colonoscopy databases are responding to two of the most influential variational segmentation methods, the geodesic and Chan–Vese active contour meth-ods. Due to the quality variation of the colonoscopy databases, pre-processing steps are made. Then, 14 various filtered images are evaluated as different inputs for the active contour methods using the Sørensen–Dice Similarity Coefficient as a performance measurement metric. The effects of the initial mask shape and its size together with the number of iterations, contraction bias and smoothness factor are studied. In gen-eral, the Chan–Vese method showed more efficiency to match the actual contour of the polyp than the geodesic one with an initial mask possibly located within the polyp area. Preprocessing such as reflection removal, background subtraction and mean or median filtering can improve the Sørensen–Dice coefficient by up to 0.5

Juvenile court – the Conqueror of Legal History

Publication Name: Journal on European History of Law

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 13

Issue: 1

Page Range: 156-160

Description:

The idea of the title that the juvenile court is the greatest conqueror of legal history comes from a work by renowned criminal lawyer Ferenc Finkey, who quoted Hastings H. Hart’s thoughts about the juvenile court. The Juvenile Court first appeared in Illinois, USA, in 1899, followed by most federal states and several countries on the old continent. The state-and legal life of Hungary, in the broader context of the Central and Eastern European states, is usually interpreted in the framework of the centre-periphery model. Without going into the issue of regulatory delay, it is worth noting that Hungarian legislation caught up with pioneering states with special criminal law regulations introduced in the early 20th century to establish the foundations for other treatment of juvenile offenders. The different treatment in this context refers to different rules from those for adult offenders. The law regulating the juvenile court as a special court entered into force in 1914, supplementing the substantive criminal law provisions with procedural rules.

Comparison of square-wave and sinusoidal signal injection in sensorless polarity detection for PMSMs

Publication Name: 2022 IEEE 20th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference Pemc 2022

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 583-589

Description:

This paper compares the non-modulated square-wave voltage injection-based and sinusoidal voltage injection-based polarity detection methods applicable in sensorless PMSM drives. A quadratic PMSM model extension is presented that serves as a basis for the polarity detection techniques. The comparison includes the polarity-dependent current components produced by the injected signals, the design parameters related to the injected signal features and their effect on the probability of correct polarity detection. The performance differences and possible application areas are also discussed.

The 4th dimension of personalization in VR

Publication Name: 2022 1st IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Aspects of Virtual Reality Cvr 2022

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 85-88

Description:

Nowadays, people find themselves under a high degree of information pressure, both in terms of the quantity and quality of information. This paper investigates how workflows can be extended in today's digital information deluge. In the scope of this study, we observe the behaviors and habits of generation Z and older (X, Y) generation students under information pressure. The study is based on empirical research, direct observations, and a questionnaire survey, focusing on information processing and time management. We conclude that preferred digital content and time management strategies differ across generations based on the test results. Furthermore, the speed of information processing negatively correlates with student age; and the frequency and quality of collaboration shows differences across user generations.

Measurement and Analysis of MPT Multipath Throughput in Wire Channels

Publication Name: International Conference on Electrical Computer Communications and Mechatronics Engineering Iceccme 2022

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

There is a significant growth in the use of the current intelligent and portable devices such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets that result in several network interfaces and various potential paths for communication. However, the mechanism used today via the Internet uses only one path for a communication session. This paper presents multipath throughput tests for the MPT network layer multipath communication library, a novel and promising solution for real-time transmission based on GRE-in-UDP encapsulation that provides an IPv4 or IPv6 tunneling (logical interface). We investigate the efficiency of channel capacity aggregation of MPT in dealing with physical paths via wired channels and test the cases when the physical paths have the same speed or radically different speeds.

QUALITY OF SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY AS A DETERMINANT OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Publication Name: Economics and Sociology

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 15

Issue: 3

Page Range: 301-318

Description:

The purpose of this work is to identify the functional links between key indicators of scientific activity and socio-economic development and to check whether the quality of scientific activity and the dynamics of innovative development are the key determinants of socio-economic progress. Following the chosen methodology, the paper forms an array of input data that characterizes the level of scientific and innovative activity, economic and social development. The principal component method is used to identify the most relevant indicators from each group and to introduce three latent variables that denote each group separately. A system of simultaneous structural equations is obtained as a result of establishing functional relationships between manifest and latent variables and building a structural model. In addition, the paper determines two clusters of the studied countries to confirm the obtained results through structural modelling. The study is conducted for 35 European countries based on 33 indicators, which characterize the quality of scientific activity, economic and social development during 2014-2020. The obtained system of structural equations confirms the hypothesis regarding the importance of scientific activity quality in terms of ensuring the socio-economic development of the country.

Generative Hypergraph-based Kinematic Models for Virtual-Reality Applications

Publication Name: 2022 1st IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Aspects of Virtual Reality Cvr 2022

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 11-16

Description:

Recently, virtual reality applications have become a prominent research area, along with related topics such as digital-twin applications and simulation of devices such as vehicles or cyber-physical systems. These topics are intimately linked with computer-based simulations and computer graphics. Consequently, accurately describing entities populating simulated worlds is a critical task. Relevant properties include but are not limited to an object's visual appearance and kinematic constraints. This paper proposes a hypergraph-based kinematic model aiming to describe virtual entities used in virtual reality applications and simulations. Compared to other popular schematics (e.g., URDF, SDF), a primary advantage of this approach is its reduced language element set, which is capable of minimally describing a conceptually very simple kind of hypergraph. This reduction, in turn, enables the description of simple graph triplets amenable to storage in graph databases or ontologies. The introduced format is aimed at enabling the flexible and efficient real-time exchange of visual and physical information on cognitive channels between entities. The possibility of transforming an instance of this model into other schematics (SDF, MaxWhere) is further demonstrated in the paper, which constructively proves the expressive capabilities of the model and helps support the claim that it is equivalent in expressive power to other widely used description models.
