Characterization of PM2.5-Bound Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in the Ambient Air of Győr, Hungary

Publication Name: Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds

Publication Date: 2019-01-01

Volume: 39

Issue: 4

Page Range: 332-345

Description:

In Hungary, the nationwide monitoring of PM10-bound polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in ambient air is great importance for a number of reasons related to human health, the environment and compliance with European Union legislation. However, the measurement of PAH concentrations in PM2.5 aerosol fraction has not been carried out. Therefore, the concentration, distribution and sources of PM2.5-bound PAHs at different urban sites of Győr were investigated in a heating season. The total PAH concentrations (sum of 19 individual PAH compounds) ranged from 1.32 to 37.27 ng/m3 with the mean value of 10.54 ng/m3. The high molecular weight PAHs with 5 and 6 aromatic rings were the most abundant PAHs in PM2.5 aerosol samples, which averaged 82% of total PAHs. Using benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) equivalent approach on the concentration data of carcinogenic PAH species, BaP and indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene contributed the highest carcinogenic exposure equivalent (1.25 and 0.19 ng/m3 on average). However, the incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) values for resident children and adults indicated low-potential cancer risk (ILCR < 10−6). The source apportionment results reflected that the major sources of PAH compounds in the Győr atmosphere were fossil fuel combustion and vehicle emissions.

Discrete fourier transform and cepstrum analysis of vibration events on semi-trailer truck

Publication Name: Fme Transactions

Publication Date: 2019-01-01

Volume: 47

Issue: 1

Page Range: 177-182

Description:

The aim of this paper is to present a novel techniqe to analyse the vibration signals during transportation in order to give new information to engineers to better understand these physical events. One of the primary sources of damages during transportation is the permanent vibration transmitted from the platform of semi-trailer to the cargo. The nature of this vibration depends on the road conditions and the features of the vehicle. In this study, a 2-axle-truck with a 3-axle-semi-trailer equipped with air spring suspension was observed to analyse the vibration circumstances. The affecting factors during the transportation were the type of the road (motorway, primary road, secondary road, tertiary road), and different vehicle speed levels. The vibration events were measured and registered on the platform of the trailer, then these values were evaluated in MATLAB environment. The presence of the harmonic vibrational components, the stationarity of the mode shapes, the characteristic frequency narrow-bands of the RMS and PSD values were primarily studied. The applied methods that were used are: discrete Fourier transformation, autocorrelation-, cross-correlation functions and cepstrum analysis.

Determination of two color agents in hard boiled candy by laser-based photoacoustic spectroscopy and colorimetry

Publication Name: Carpathian Journal of Food Science and Technology

Publication Date: 2019-01-01

Volume: 11

Issue: 4

Page Range: 126-132

Description:

Determination of color agents was performed by laser-based photoacoustic spectroscopy (LPAS) and colorimetry in hard boiled candies containing two different colorants (anthocyanin and beta carotene). LPAS and colorimetry are fast and direct methods which do not require any chemicals or complicated sample preparation such as extraction. Both LPAS and colorimetry were shown to be suitable for quick determination of anthocyanin and beta carotene content in hard boiled candies. The determination of anthocyanin content in colored hard-boiled candies is possible by LPAS at 532 nm or by colorimetry using ΔE*, while the beta carotene content can be measured by LPAS at 473 nm or by colorimetry using the Hue color index.

To the Margin of the Theory of a New Type of Warfare Examining Certain Aspects of Cyber Warfare

Publication Name: Hungarian Yearbook of International Law and European Law

Publication Date: 2019-01-01

Volume: 7

Issue: 1

Page Range: 203-226

Description:

In the second half of the 20th century, humanity went through an unprecedented technical and technological development. As a result, technological innovations emerged in the course of the last third of the century which have now become indispensable parts of everyday life, the whole society and even the state. Among them, we must mention the IT sector, which has effectively enabled global contacts and communication between people and organizations across different parts of the world through various tools, programs and networks. Moreover, it also facilitates and simplifies everyday tasks both in the private and the public sector. Cyberspace is a unique and complex phenomenon, since it can be described with physical and geographical concepts, but in addition, its virtual features also have extraordinary relevance. As a result of its remarkable expansion, fundamental areas such as sociology, geopolitics, security policy or warfare must also be reconsidered. This paper provides an overview of the new types of security challenges for the 21st century, most notably security risks related to the cyberspace. In addition, some aspects of cyber warfare, such as cyber intelligence, cyber attack and cyber defense are examined. Particular attention is given to the question whether a cyber attack in itself can reach the level of an armed attack, and if so, what means can be used by the State under attack in defense.

The overview of digital twins in industry 4.0: Managing the whole ecosystem

Publication Name: Ic3k 2019 Proceedings of the 11th International Joint Conference on Knowledge Discovery Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management

Publication Date: 2019-01-01

Volume: 3

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 271-276

Description:

Industry 4.0 aims in renewing processes using available technologies such as robots and other AI techniques implemented in IoT, drones, digital twins and clouds. This metamorphose impacts the whole industry ecosystems including people, information processing and business models. In this context, the accumulated knowledge and know-how can be reused but has also to evolve. This paper focus on the role of digital twins in transforming industrial ecosystems and discuss also the environmental impact.

Reduced model investigations supported by fuzzy cognitive map to foster circular economy

Publication Name: Studies in Computational Intelligence

Publication Date: 2019-01-01

Volume: 796

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 191-202

Description:

The aim of the present paper is to develop an integrated method that provide assistance to decision makers during system planning, design, operation and evaluation. In order to support the realization of Circular Economy (CE) it is essential to evaluate local needs and conditions that help to select the most appropriate system-components and resources needed. Each of these activities requires careful planning, however, the model of CE offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary framework. The aim of this research was to develop and to introduce a practical methodology for evaluation of local and regional opportunities to promote CE.

Extension of a Glycaemic Control Medical Application with New Functions and Ergonomic User Interface Elements

Publication Name: 2018 13th International Symposium on Electronics and Telecommunications Isetc 2018 Conference Proceedings

Publication Date: 2018-12-19

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The human body is composed of numerous highly complex metabolic processes. Abnormal variation of the blood glucose concentration is a common complication in the intensive care units. This paper presents a model-based method of glycaemic control and a medical application implementing the glycaemic control protocol. The principal cases were to extend the functionality of the application in order to automatically create multiple episodes for a patient already in the database of the application and an accessibly view for previous treatments calculation. These functions are very helpful and convenient because allow to the clinicians to have new measurements and a treatment calculation without entering the data of the patient again in the system. The visualization of previous treatments can be efficiently used to define optimized dosing for the subsequent treatment period. The paper concludes with the results of the extension of the medical application.
