Land-use zone estimation in public transport planning with data mining

Nowadays, data sets are spreading continually, generated by different devices and systems. The modern GPS based tracking systems and the electronic tickets are producing lots of data, and we could use them, for improving the service level. These data are processable with the modern devices and methods, and we can use them for obtaining information. Thanks to the spread of data mining, these tools are not appearing only in marketing research, but also in the most various kind of scientific areas and they are advertising a new scientific revolution. Although the importance of these data sources is essential it is not widespread in transport planning except in some specific areas. The smart card systems store the number of boarding passengers and in some cases also the alighting values. From the passengers' boarding and alighting information in a stop point we can create a time series, which shows the behavior type of the given stop points presented on graphic curves. With the help of different clustering and classification processes, these curves can be turned into groups and we can observe these groups of stop points which are defining separated zones. This is the basic step in transport modelling and the zones were determined by manual methods usually. In this paper we examine clustering and classification methods compared to each other and check the usability of different distance measurement techniques. This paper shows the usage of these methods in public transportation and presents the background of this kind of zone distribution technic.

Since there’s a race for customers on the market of the consumer goods, cities of the 21st century compete for the inhabitants, tourists, investors and companies. In this competition the image and good reputation of the city, their conscious framing is one of the biggest feats of arms. The economy of the dynamically developing city, Győr is based after several system changes on the automobile industry. Its main leg is the important international company with headquarter in Győr since 1993, the Audi Hungaria Zrt. (AH). As results of the research analysing the marketing communicational print and film tools of the company and the city, the author tried to figure out, how the AH and the city interact in their corporate communication, in their reputation.

Fast meshless techniques based on the regularized method of fundamental solutions

Description:

A regularized method of fundamental solutions is presented. The method can handle Neumann and mixed boundary conditions as well without using a desingularization technique. Instead, the approach combines the regularized method of fundamental solutions with traditional finite difference techniques based on some inner collocation points located in the vicinity of the boundary collocation points. Nevertheless, the resulting method remains meshless. The method avoids the problem of singularity and can be embedded in a natural multi-level context. The method is illustrated via a numerical example.

Maximizing battery life and usable capacity with battery management system in electric vehicles

Decoupling – shifts in ecological footprint intensity of nations in the last decade

The ecological price of economic growth is a heavily debated issue, where ideologies often neglect factual information. In this paper, through the relationship of the ecological footprint and GDP, we examine the tendencies of eco-efficiency in the first decade of the 21st century. We conclude that the average ecological footprint intensity of countries have improved significantly in the given period. In 2009, 50 percent less area was needed to produce a unit of GDP. Many countries could reach the so-called strong decoupling − these countries could increase GDP while decreasing the ecological footprint in absolute terms. We also repeated the analysis of a scientific article published in 2004. We managed to update data and identify ecologically positive tendencies. In ten years, the average of the world's ecological footprint intensity has significantly improved, it halved all in all. We found that 90 percent of the countries started to move to the direction of sustainable development. Among the studied 131 countries, 40 experienced strong decoupling (absolute decrease of resource use), in 77 countries weak decoupling occurred (relative decrease of resource use), and there were only 14 countries, where no decoupling could be observed (relative increase of resource use).

Minimal Volume Simplex (MVS) Polytopic Model Generation and Manipulation Methodology for TP Model Transformation

The vertices of a polytopic LPV/qLPV model determine the feasibility of any linear matrix inequality (LMI) based control design as well as the achievable control performance, since the polytope typically includes not only the actual system dynamics. This paper proposes a powerful method to determine suitable polytopic qLPV Tensor-Product model forms that allows for fine tuning through constraints on the locations of the vertices. The paper shows that these tuning methods are capable of effectively influencing the closed-loop control performance results from LMI-based multi-objective optimisation. The advantages of the proposed methods are their tractability, low computational complexity, as well as their determinism. The key idea behind the proposed methods is to determine vertices in each decoupled parameter-dimensions of the TP model in such a way that they form a minimal volume enclosing simplex fulfilling further fine tuning conditions on its shape. This is achieved based on the extension of the Minimal Volume Simplex Analysis (MVSA) method, where the volume of the enclosing simplex polytope is minimized by applying Sequential Quadratic Programming with majorization minimization strategy extended with a set of additional constraints influencing the location of certain vertices according to physically established considerations. Besides the comprehensive presentation of the proposed design methodology an expressive numerical example is provided to demonstrate its effectiveness and usability.

The willingness and preparedness of local governments in Ap Vojvodina/Serbia to grip and use development funds of the European Union

EU funds that are available in Serbia are modest both in volume and number, since Serbia received preaccession status only in 2014. Before that, it was only a potential pre-accession country on the external border of the European Union. From the five components of IPA (2007-2013) Serbia could have utilised only the first two components in the pre-accession process: building of EU institutions (EXCHANGE IIV, Regional Socio-Economic Development Programme) and enhancing cross-border cooperation As a conclusion we can say that although substantial sums were invested from the above mentioned resources into the economy of Vojvodina for its development, the main indicator - the GDP - has been increasing only slightly, while these projects have no effects on decreasing unemployment. In the overall economic situation, unemployment is primarily decreased by emigration, in which Vojvodina Hungarians take part at a rate above the average compared to their headcount, thus decreasing the economic power of the community through emigration.

Green supply chain awareness in the hungarian automotive industry

The integration of the disciplines of both the green operation and the complex supply chain (including purchasing, production and logistics) came into focus in the 1990s. In the literature review the focus of the researchers of this cross-sectional field was the automotive industry. It seems obvious that these closely-knit systems with high OEM dominance will offer more concrete results: it is difficult to resist when a given OEM starts to involve its first-, second- and third tier suppliers into its environmental schemes and processes. The Hungarian automotive sector can be characterized as somewhat one-sided: it consists of by few large international OEM’s (Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Suzuki, Raba), but by a large number of small-medium enterprises as 3rd (or even 4th!) tier suppliers. The aim of the paper was to find out whether companies acting as a member of more advanced chains show also better results in their “green” supply-chain-behavior. As a study description, in our empirical research, we have created a toolkit, and examined whether companies, which are using more sophisticated inter-organizational cooperation-tools, are more environmentally cautious, and if yes to what extent. As a result, discussion it can be stated that companies with a higher developed traditional Supply Chain have also a more developed green supply chain management system.

Hidden content of passenger data in public transport

Nowadays, data sets are spreading continually, generated by different devices and systems. In most cases, these data are stored, and the service providers don't use the information they contain, what even more they delete these data to save space. However, these data are processable with the modern devices and methods, and we can use them for obtaining information. This paper presents a possible application of the digital raw materials, taking the public transport passengers boarding and alighting information as a base. Based on these, we are able to deduce the characteristics of the stop point's environment since the different land usage yields dissimilar stop usage with well-defined peak hours. With the help of distance measurement and classification techniques it is possible to define how similar are the stop points to predefined patterns and we can create stop point groups which define separated zones. The paper shows a usage method of distance measurement methods and classification in public transportation and presents the background of this kind of land-use zone distribution technic.
