Recently autonomous navigation technologies have received huge attention in many fields, such as autonomous driving or mobile robotics. Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) [1] is a key problem in this field and the current paper targets the mapping part of it. Mapping means to construct accurate static or even dynamic representation of the observable environment. There are of course solutions for range sensor-based mapping, but the current paper proposes a new approach, which involves signatures. Signature is a mathematical data representation, which handles well uncertainty in complex systems.

Analyzing the Potential Impacts of the Speed Compliance Behavior of Autonomous Vehicles †

Many researchers argue that autonomous vehicles (AV) will create a safer and more efficient transport infrastructure. However, some studies have drawn attention to potential problems in relation to how AVs and human-driven vehicles will co-exist. We investigated the effect of speed compliance behavior of AVs on an urban two-lane road section with alternating speed limits of 50 and 30 km/h. A Vissim microsimulation model was used where we gradually increased the traffic volume and the market penetration rate (MPR) of AVs. We found that under low traffic flow conditions the increase in MPR will lead to a decrease in the average speed and worsening of the average travel time. Under medium and, specifically, under saturated conditions, a high share of AVs can bring stability to the system. They can also significantly improve the speed compliance rate.

The paper proposes the design of a neural-network-based control strategy of autonomous vehicles in intersections. The motivation of the neural network approach is to reduce the numerically-intensive computation of the optimization problem in which the motions of autonomous vehicles are formed. In the method the neural network is trained through a preliminary optimal off-line solution. Moreover, a robustness analysis and a reconfiguration strategy for the scenarios with vehicle position disturbances are proposed. The design and the analysis are illustrated through CarSim simulation examples.

Different Chromosome-based Evolutionary Approaches for the Permutation Flow Shop Problem

This paper proposes approaches for adapting chromosome-based evolutionary methods to the Permutation Flow Shop Problem. Two types of individual representation (i.e. encoding methods) are proposed, which are applied on three different chromosome based evolutionary techniques, namely the Genetic Algorithm, the Bacterial Evolutionary Algorithm and the Particle Swarm Optimization method. Both representations are applied on the two former methods, whereas one of them is used for the latter optimization technique. Each mentioned algorithm is involved without and with local search steps as one of its evolutionary operators. Since the evolutionary operators of each technique are established according to the applied representation, this paper deals with a total number of ten different chromosome-based evolutionary methods. The obtained techniques are evaluated via simulation runs carried out on the well-known Taillard's benchmark problem set. Based on the experimental results the approaches for adapting chromosome based evolutionary methods are compared to each other.

In evaluating the influence of greenhouse gases (GHGs) on climate change, the effectiveness of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) is intricately tied to their atmospheric turnover rates, which play a crucial role in their heat-trapping capacity. Understanding the dynamics of how these gases cycle through the atmosphere is essential for assessing their respective contributions to the greenhouse effect and, consequently, their impact on global warming and climate change. The prime objective of this research is to examine the role of climatic change, agriculture output, and fertilizer use on the agriculture soil's greenhouse gas emissions. In doing so, the present study has focused on the temperature of land, fertilizer consumption, crop and livestock production, and energy used in agriculture soils on the pollution level of agricultural soils. The study further delineates the intricate interdependencies between climate change factors and GHG emissions using novel econometric methodologies, specifically the PMG-ARDL, SC-ARDL, and Dumitrescu Hurlin Panel Causality frameworks. In doing so, we use a large panel dataset spanning 1990 to 2020. The estimations show that climate change, as measured by variations in terrestrial temperature, has a discernible and positive impact on GHG emissions over the short and long term. Energy consumption and livestock production positively correlate with GHG emissions, with the former having a more pronounced effect. The implications of fertilizer usage and overall crop yield become noticeably significant in the long term. It emphasizes the importance of using a diachronic perspective when assessing GHG emissions in the agricultural sector. It is also worth noting that agricultural land use appears to negatively impact GHG emissions, emphasizing the importance of implementing sustainable land management practices to mitigate adverse environmental consequences. The study also explores the causality between climate change, agricultural practices, and GHG emissions, revealing a bidirectional association between climatic change and soil emissions. Additionally, unidirectional causation is observed from fertilizer consumption and crop production to emissions, underscoring the importance of adopting sustainable agricultural practices to reduce emissions. The findings offer valuable insights for governments and researchers to create sustainability-related strategies for dealing with climate change issues, safeguarding natural resources, and ensuring a sustainable future for agriculture.

Background: Healthy eating is one of the main factors of maintaining health. Certain diets such as flexitarian, vegetarian and vegan can be associated with a healthy lifestyle. These diets have recently become more common. Aim: This review aims to summarize the characteristics of a flexitarian, vegetarian, and vegan diet by comparing these specific nutritional trends through the processed literature. Methods: Electronic searches were performed on the Google Scholar database, Medline, PubMed, and Science Direct. The manuscript summarizes publications on flexitarian, vegetarian, and vegan diets. Furthermore, it examines the relationships between different nutritional trends as well. Result: The summarized vegan (100% plant-based diet), vegetarian (plant-rich diet), and flexitarian (plant-based with high-quality meat consumption diet) have become the focus of results through this literature. Conclusion: Flexitarian, vegetarian and vegan diets contribute to a healthy lifestyle and sustainable agriculture by following nutritional recommendations. The common basis of diets is to appreciate natural values and maintain health.

In the framework of the paper a HOSVD-based approach is introduced for LPV model reduction and multidimensional data representation. By these approaches in case of model reduction the system matrix is expressed with the help of a so called core tensor and a system of specially determined polylinear orthonormal functions. Similar approach will be applied also in case of data representation. The paper gives a detailed description on how to determine the polylinear functions and the core tensor and how the model can be expressed and reduced with their help. Furthermore, the HOSVD-based domain proposed for data representation will be compared to the well known frequency domain - related to Fourier transformation - from the point of view of their common application possibilities and their effectiveness.

This study examines the impact of digitally curated museum exhibitions on visitor behavior, with a particular focus on university students from China and Hungary (n = 308). Using PLS-SEM analysis, the research finds that visitors’ experiences during digital curation visits significantly influence their behavior, and this influence is mediated by perceived value and satisfaction. It is recommended that museums consider the following constructive considerations to facilitate their future development: expanding the application of digital curation, utilizing cutting-edge technologies, implementing data-driven curatorial optimization, enhancing social experiences, integrating education and entertainment, and promoting cultural preservation and environmental stewardship. These insights will help guide museums toward more engaging and sustainable experiences.
