Influence of the Manipulation of the Polytopic Tensor Product Model Representation on the Control Performance of LMI Based Design

Publication Name: Proceedings 2015 IEEE International Conference on Systems Man and Cybernetics Smc 2015

Publication Date: 2016-01-12

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 2603-2608

Description:

The paper studies the effect of the manipulation of the polytopic TP model representation of a given quasi Linear Parameter Varying (qLPV) state-space model on the control performance results. The investigated model in the case study consists of the extended, Stribeck friction included three degrees of-freedom version of the aero elastic wing section of the Nonlinear Aero elastic Test Apparatus (NATA) model. The investigation is carried out through the Tensor Product (TP) model transformation based Control Design Framework, which bridges the manipulation of the polytopic representation and Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) based control design methods. Different TP model representations of the given qLPV model are derived: A TP model representation with a sum-normalized non-negative (SNNN) convex hull, a TP model representation with a close to-normal (CNO) convex hull and interpolated TP model representations. Upon these representations Linear Matrix Inequality based design methods are applied to attain the controller and observer system components. The resulting control systems are tested through numerical simulation and their performance are compared and evaluated. The paper presents results, where the interpolated representations lead to better control performance results, which indicates, that the manipulation of the polytopic TP model representation may lead to further potential optimization possibilities. Also, this shows, that in order to find the optimal solution the manipulation is a necessary and important step.

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The effect of geogrids on unbound granular fill by the mechanism of mechanical interlock has been established with particle confinement identified as being an important component influencing the performance of the resulting mechanically stabilised layer. Evaluation of the influence of geogrids on particles through the thickness of the mechanically stabilised layer has been carried out using a large multi-level shear box. The results obtained from the programme of testing carried out at the University of Gyor will be discussed by reviewing measured shear resistance at several levels in the granular fill to characterise the influence of the geogrid on particle confinement through the granular layer thickness.

Integrated robust control design for in-wheel-motor vehicles

No authors available

Publication Name: FISITA 2014 World Automotive Congress - Proceedings

Publication Date: 2014-01-01

Volume:

Issue:

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The paper proposes a multi-layer supervisory architecture for integrated control systems in road vehicles. The role of the supervisor is to coordinate active control components and provide priority among them. The supervisor has information about the current operational mode of the vehicle and it is able to make decisions about the necessary interventions into the vehicle components and guarantee the reconfigurable operation of the vehicle. The decisions of the supervisor are propagated to the lower layers through predefined interfaces encoded as suitable scheduling signals. The contribution of the paper is the application of the LPV methodology in a design case study in which an integrated control of four wheel independently-actuated electric vehicle with active steering system is developed.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE IN THE PRACTICES OF CONVENTIONAL AND ISLAMIC COMMERCIAL BANKS IN THE PAKISTANI BANKING SYSTEM

Publication Name: Vezetestudomany

Publication Date: 2024-03-14

Volume: 55

Issue: 3

Page Range: 44-57

Description:

The authors’ study explored the incorporation of the CSR concept followed by Western banks into the practice of Islamic-based dual banking. Their empirical research covered the listed commercial banks in Pakistan. They studied the CSR activities and their disclosure in reports of listed commercial banks in Pakistan during the period 2008–2018 and how they affected the financial performance of the banks. The results of the study revealed that the disclosure of CSR increased by an average of 15 percentage during the period under study: from 56.48% to 71.06%. The results of the study confirm that banks that consciously engage in CSR activities and communicate this appropriately achieve better financial performance. However, disclosure of CSR information has no significant impact on the market valuation of listed banks, as measured by Tobin’s Q ratio.

Publication Name: Proceedings of the Mini Conference on Vehicle System Dynamics, Identification and Anomalies

Publication Date: 2014-01-01

Volume: 2014-January

Issue:

Page Range: 71-81

Description:

The paper proposes the design of an integrated vehicle control system for in-wheel electric vehicle, which is able to track road geometry with a predefined reference velocity. In the design the lateral and longitudinal dynamics are combined using the in-wheel motors and the steering system. The design methodology of the hierarchical control is proposed. The required control signals are calculated by applying high-level controllers, which are designed using a robust control method. For the control design the model is augmented with weighting functions specified by the performance demands. The actuators generating the necessary control signals in order to achieve the requirements for which low-level tracking controllers are designed.

Volume: 105

Description:

Twenty years after the transition to the market-based housing sector the overall physical condition of pre-war urban-type residential houses remained below standard in Hungary. Among other factors, the fragmented ownership structure (at present, the capital-scarce former tenants constitute the stakeholders' community), and the given physical condition of the residential houses has resulted in difficulties in maintenance and repair. The options in the renovation process are limited by financial capabilities, however, the essential problem with maintenance originates from the unprofessional approach in decision-making. Although several decision-support tools exist that may help the stakeholders' communities, some properties of these tools make them unsuitable, or, as in the case of the facility management systems, their application may result in oversized expenses with needless functions. As a combination of the fuzzy signature structure and the principles of finite-state machines a new formal method is proposed for generate a tool for the supporting stakeholders' decisions in the building rehabilitation process, concerning necessity, cost efficiency and quality. With the support of information obtained from building diagnostic surveys, technical guides and contractors' billing databases an optimized renovation protocol is proposed.

Publication Name: Civil-Comp Proceedings

Publication Date: 2014-01-01

Volume: 105

Description:

The characteristics and the status of the existing stock of residential buildings are extremely important for the national economy of all countries including Hungary. Formerly some methods and approaches to formally tackle and evaluate individual buildings based on available records and expert reports were formulated. These methods are suitable for the evaluation and ranking of residential buildings and make it easier to complete the status assessment and decision support for further utilization. A mathematical analysis has been conducted to identify the sensitivity of the calculated final results in the case of the applied fuzzy signatures related to the changes of the membership values at the leaves (the end nodes of a graph). This paper briefly presents the methods, then it investigates the validity of these results taking into consideration the possible subjective discrepancy and certainty in the evaluations.

Publication Date: 2014-01-01

Volume: 105

Issue:

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Movement towards more sustainable waste management practice has been identified as a priority in the whole of the EU. The EU Waste Management Strategy's requirements emphasizes waste prevention; recycling and reuse; and improving final disposal and monitoring. Integrated waste management systems can be defined as the selection and application of suitable and available techniques, technologies and management programs to achieve waste management objectives and goals. As a result of the complexity and uncertainty occurring in sustainable waste management systems, the fuzzy cognitive map method is used with the combination of the bacterial evolutionary algorithm to support the planning and decision making process of integrated systems. Since the fuzzy cognitive map method is formed for a selected system by determining the concepts and their relationships, it is possible to quantitatively simulate the system considering its parameters. Several techniques were used in order to produce the input data of the simulation process. The goal of this paper is to present the process of data production.

Plastic limit analysis of lateral piles for uncertain conditions

No authors available

Publication Name: Civil-Comp Proceedings

Publication Date: 2014-01-01

Volume: 106

Issue:

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

In the study, presented in this paper, a general approach to the reliability based limit analysis of laterally loaded piles is presented. In engineering practice uncertainties play a very important role. The aim of this study is to evaluate the lateral load capacity of a long pile when plastic limit analysis is considered. In addition to the plastic limit analysis to control the plastic behaviour of the structure, a bound on the complementary strain energy of the residual forces is also applied. This bound has a significant effect for the load parameter. The solution to reliability-based problems is obtained by a computer program which is governed by the reliability index calculation.
