Soil moisture distribution mapping in topsoil and its effect on maize yield

Soil moisture content directly influences yield. Mapping within field soil moisture content differences provides information for agricultural management practices. In this study we aimed to find a cost-effective method for mapping within field soil moisture content differences. Spatial coverage of the field sampling or TDR method is still not dense enough for site-specific soil management. Soil moisture content can be calculated by measuring the apparent soil electrical conductivity (ECa) using the Veris Soil EC-3100 on-the-go soil mapping tool. ECa is temperature dependent; therefore values collected in different circumstances were standardized to 25°C temperature (EC25). Constants for Archie's adjusted law were calculated separately, using soil temperature data. According to our results, volumetric moisture content can be mapped by applying ECa measurements in our particular field with high spatial accuracy. Even though within-field differences occure in the raw ECa map standardization to EC25 is recommended. Soil moisture map was also compared to yield map showing correlation (R2 = 0.5947) between the two datasets.

Nonequilibrium dynamics of superconductivity in the Hatsugai-Kohmoto model

We study the nonequilibrium dynamics of the superconducting order parameter in the Hatsugai-Kohmoto (HK) model. In the absence of superconductivity, its ground state is a non-Fermi liquid, whose properties are controlled by the HK interaction. Our protocol involves quantum quenching the HK interaction but leaving the interaction responsible for superconductivity unchanged. We map out the nonequilibrium dynamical phase diagram of the interacting model which contains three phases where, at long times, the order parameter amplitude vanishes, approaches a constant value, or persistently oscillates. We also investigate the Loschmidt echo in searching for dynamical quantum phase transition and find that its nonanalytic temporal behavior is close but does not match exactly the vanishing of the order parameter. The momentum space entanglement entropy between positive and negative momentum modes, relevant for Cooper pairing, is calculated. Counterintuitively, this momentum space entanglement does not change significantly during the quench dynamics and its value remains reasonably large even for a vanishing superconducting order parameter. Nevertheless, its derivative with respect to the HK interaction signals the dynamical phase transition associated to the late time vanishing of superconductivity.

Applicability of various wavelet families in fuzzy classification of access networks' telecommunication lines

The future of the smart society sets challenges for all types of existing telecommunication networks and links. For ensuring the optimal utilization of these networks precise performance predictions are necessary, especially in case of the symmetrical access networks with rather limited transmission capacity. It is also important to harness the already established infrastructure as long as it is technically possible, so that the use of the environmental resources would be minimal and the economical advantages would be maximal. In performance prediction of telecommunication links the high-dimensional input data, like the insertion loss spectrum, should be compessed. After reducing the dimension of the antecedent set, a fuzzy inference can be carried out for each of the lines. As the number of lines used for building the fuzzy sets is finite and the supports of the fuzzy set do not cover the whole space, a stabilized KH interpolation is used in the decision process. Wavelets constitute the basis of methods for compressing and analyzing data in many fields of science and technology. For the reduction of the input dimension, wavelets proved to be an effective tool. The applicability of various wavelet families with different sizes of filter coefficient sets are tested in the following considerations, with the result, that the wavelet type does not play an essential role as well as the length of the wavelets. Only the deepness of the wavelet transform influences essentially the goodness of the prediction: the remaining number of points should be 4 after the transformation.

Charpy Impact Test Result Comparison on Reinforcing Materials used in Continuous Filament 3D Printing

With the growing industrial demand for materials that can withstand dynamic loads, composite 3D printing, particularly utilizing continuous fiber reinforcements, presents a promising solution. This study investigates the toughness of three fiber-reinforced materials, namely carbon fiber, Kelvar, and fiberglass, by conducting Charpy impact tests. The results reveal that fiber-reinforced 3D materials significantly outperform standard 3D printed components, with fiberglass showing the highest toughness. These findings demonstrate that fiber-reinforced 3D printed materials offer a viable alternative for applications requiring high toughness and dynamic resistance.

In today's digital age, cyberbullying has emerged as a pervasive issue that affects individuals across various social media platforms and digital communication channels. This review explores the developmental trajectory of cyberbullying as an interdisciplinary academic field, employing a unique combination of co-word analysis and main path analysis (MPA) across a substantial body of 5183 documents. This integrated methodological approach allows for a nuanced examination of the evolution of themes and influential works within the realm of cyberbullying research. The findings highlight a complex landscape where initial focus areas, such as the behavioral and psychological triggers of cyberbullying, progressively expand towards exploring effective preventive measures and intervention strategies. Key themes identified include the impact of digital literacy, the dual role of social media as both a vector and a tool against cyberbullying, and the potential of technological advancements in detecting and mitigating cyberbullying. This comprehensive mapping and analysis deepens our understanding of cyberbullying and highlights the dynamic nature of this field, suggesting new directions for future research and practical applications to effectively address cyberbullying across various social and technological contexts. This study represents a pioneering effort in synthesizing a broad spectrum of research to offer detailed insights into the changing dynamics of cyberbullying, marking a significant contribution to both academic knowledge and practical approaches to handling cyberbullying.

Robotic and other intelligent systems have recently gained prominence, integrating a growing number of new functionalities. Since the beginning, the flexible semantic self-recognition of intelligent devices has been a challenge. The traditional solution is to provide a centralized source of semantic descriptions (in parameter servers or external sources). This paper introduces a graph-like binary format for machine-to-machine information exchange to efficiently index and process graph-based data at each endpoint. The exchanged graphs, which are represented as multidimensional tensors, are based on the formal theory of hypergraphs, allowing for the description of associations between not just two, but multiple modalities. We show in addition that hierarchical information is also compatible with this hypergraph-based formalism. Thus, structured information can be shared between intelligent entities, using the proposed format, to share information for reasoning, planning (e.g., motion planning in robotics), as well as environment representation. A further motivation includes the description of vision data by providing semantic information that can be rewritten in interpretable form for the target visualization engine.

This study analyses Chinese investments in Hungary from the perspective of three initiatives (Belt and Road Initiative, International Cooperation in Industrial Capacity and Equipment, and Made in China 2025) which are in line with China's "Go global" strategy and among other things aimed at promoting the spread of Chinese companies and products abroad. The findings show a vivid cooperation between China and Hungary in automotive, ICT, renewable energy, chemical, transportation/logistics and banking sector through the three abovementioned initiatives.

Characterization of fatty acid, antioxidant, and polyphenol content of grape seed oil from different Vitis vinifera L. varieties

In this study, we examined the yield and oil quality of eight different grape varieties. For the experiments, the grape seeds were obtained from the Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey in the northwestern region of Hungary. The aim of the studies was to determine the oil yield obtained by extraction and to examine the differences between the fatty acid composition, antioxidant capacity, and total polyphenol content of the oils of different grape varieties. Based on the results, the oil content of the grape seeds varied between 99.91 g/kg and 126.74 g/kg. The grape seed oils analysed contained significant amounts of stearic acid (3.42-9.93%), palmitic acid (7.81-10.66%), oleic acid (14.29-19.92%), and linoleic acid (66.85-72.47%). Besides, the grape seed oils tested contained several other fatty acids in small amounts. There were significant differences in the total antioxidant and total polyphenol content of the oils. Total polyphenol content ranged from 0.24 to 1.13 mg GAE/g, while the total antioxidant content changed between 0.12 and 0.78 μg TEAC/g. The results show that the studied varieties are suitable for the production of table grape seed oil based on their oil yield, and the oils have favourable, health-protecting properties in terms of their quality.

Hungary's inflationary exposures to global price movements

This paper investigates Hungary's inflationary exposures to global price movements using a simple cost-push input-output price model and a database of inflation-to-output price elasticities (Global Inflation-to-Output Price Elasticity Database, GIOPED) developed on the basis of the OECD's Inter-Country Input-Output Tables. Inflation elasticities are decomposed into local, simple, and complex global value chain effects by applying Wang's decomposition scheme (Wang et al. 2017) to price movements and inflation. Our empirical analysis based on GIOPED elasticities shows that Hungary is highly exposed to global value chain price transmissions originating in Germany, Austria, and Russia; and in particular to changes in energy prices. The crude oil and natural gas price boom and the resulting energy crises caused a significant increase in consumer price levels in Hungary; however, this explains only a fraction of current inflation rates.
