Potentials and challenges of augmented reality smart glasses in logistics and supply chain management: a systematic literature review

This study investigates the potentials and challenges of applying augmented reality (AR) smart glasses in logistics and supply chain management (SCM). A systematic literature review on AR smart glasses was conducted to provide a comprehensive synthesis of what has been published in the literature to capture the dynamics surrounding this technology and identify areas deserving of further academic attention. To summarise the latest developments in this field, eighty-two (82) publications were selected and thoroughly analysed. In terms of research findings, four main clusters of potential benefits were identified: visualisation, interaction, user convenience, and navigation. In contrast, the challenges posed by smart glasses in the logistics field were clustered around technical, organisational, and ergonomic considerations. The accumulation of knowledge and actionable insights in this study will benefit both academics and practitioners interested in this emerging wearable technology segment. As the first attempt to explore the importance of smart glasses in logistics and SCM activities, this study offers significant contributions to the literature by codifying extant knowledge on AR smart glasses and setting forth an agenda for future research.

Mechanical Studies of Subperiosteal Implants

When designing subperiosteal implants, mechanical testing of the implant and abutment is inevitable. Subperiosteal implants and their abutments are medical devices made to order, so each implant requires a separate design, since each patient has a different bone surface, for which the implant must be designed. For the mechanical testing of subperiosteal implants, a new test apparatus was constructed, on which mechanical simulations were carried out, the subperiosteal implants were tested together with their abutments. In addition to the finite element analysis simulation, the test apparatus can also be used to determine how much force is generated by the chewing force on the subperiosteal implant and its abutment as a result of the chewing mechanism.

Navigating AI-Driven Financial Forecasting: A Systematic Review of Current Status and Critical Research Gaps

This systematic literature review explores the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in financial market forecasting, with a focus on four asset classes: equities, cryptocurrencies, commodities, and foreign exchange markets. Guided by the PRISMA methodology, the study identifies the most widely used predictive models, particularly LSTM, GRU, XGBoost, and hybrid deep learning architectures, as well as key evaluation metrics, such as RMSE and MAPE. The findings confirm that AI-based approaches, especially neural networks, outperform traditional statistical methods in capturing non-linear and high-dimensional dynamics. However, the analysis also reveals several critical research gaps. Most notably, current models are rarely embedded into real or simulated trading strategies, limiting their practical applicability. Furthermore, the sensitivity of widely used metrics like MAPE to volatility remains underexplored, particularly in highly unstable environments such as crypto markets. Temporal robustness is also a concern, as many studies fail to validate their models across different market regimes. While data covering one to ten years is most common, few studies assess performance stability over time. By highlighting these limitations, this review not only synthesizes the current state of the art but also outlines essential directions for future research. Specifically, it calls for greater emphasis on model interpretability, strategy-level evaluation, and volatility-aware validation frameworks, thereby contributing to the advancement of AI’s real-world utility in financial forecasting.

Performance of Concrete Incorporating Waste Glass Cullet and Snail Shell Powder: Workability and Strength Characteristics

This study investigates the combined use of waste glass cullet (WGC) and snail shell powder (SSP) as a sustainable binary cementitious system to enhance the mechanical performance and durability of concrete, particularly for rigid pavement applications. Nine concrete mixes were formulated: a control mix, four mixes with 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% WGC as partial cement replacement, and four corresponding mixes with 1% SSP addition. Slump, compressive strength, and flexural strength were evaluated at various curing ages. Results showed that while WGC reduced workability due to its angular morphology (slump decreased from 30 mm to 20 mm at 20% WGC), the inclusion of SSP slightly mitigated this reduction (21 mm at 20% WGC + 1% SSP). At 28 days, compressive strength increased from 40.0 MPa (control) to 45.0 MPa with 20% WGC and further to 48.0 MPa with the addition of SSP. Flexural strength also improved from 7.0 MPa (control) to 7.8 MPa with both WGC and SSP. These improvements were statistically significant (p < 0.05) and supported by correlation analysis, which revealed a strong inverse relationship between WGC content and slump (r = −0.97) and strong positive correlations between early and later-age strength. Microstructural analyses (SEM/EDX) confirmed enhanced matrix densification and pozzolanic activity. The findings demonstrate that up to 20% WGC with 1% SSP not only enhances strength development but also provides a viable, low-cost, and eco-friendly alternative for producing durable, load-bearing, and sustainable concrete for rigid pavements and infrastructure applications. This approach supports circular economic principles by valorizing industrial and biogenic waste streams in civil construction.

The seafood sector is essential for global food security and economic development; however, it encounters substantial challenges, including labor shortages, sustainability issues, and the necessity for enhanced efficiency. Advanced technologies such as robotics, drones, and autonomous systems are increasingly being integrated into multiple stages of the seafood value chain, encompassing harvesting and distribution, to address these challenges. These technologies provide solutions through the enhancement of operational efficiency, improvement of product quality, and promotion of sustainability. This chapter examines the automation of processing and packaging through robotics, the enhancement of aquaculture and fishery monitoring via drones, and the optimization of logistics and environmental management by autonomous systems. The chapter also highlights challenges associated with the adoption of these technologies, such as elevated costs, regulatory concerns, and the necessity for technical expertise. Several real-world use cases are presented to demonstrate the practical application and benefits of each technology. The chapter concludes with recommendations for future research, emphasizing the scalability of these technologies for smaller enterprises, their integration throughout the value chain, and their environmental and social implications. Addressing these areas enables the seafood sector to leverage technology more effectively for a sustainable and efficient future.

Developing Longitudinal Vehicle Dynamics Model of Electric Bicycles for Virtual Validation of Active Safety Systems †

The increasing adoption of electric bicycles (e-bikes) has led to a growing need for advanced active safety systems, such as anti-lock braking systems (ABSs), to enhance rider safety. In recent years, both hydraulic and electromechanical ABSs were researched. To support the development and validation of these systems, this paper presents a longitudinal vehicle dynamics model of an electric bicycle. The model captures key physical interactions, including drivetrain, transmission, braking, and tire–road contact, to accurately simulate longitudinal motion. By leveraging this model, future studies can perform virtual validation of active safety components in a controlled and repeatable environment, reducing the dependency on costly and time-intensive physical testing. The proposed model lays the foundation for a model-based design approach, enabling early-stage performance assessment and optimization of safety-critical functions in electric bicycles.

Hijacked medical journals rank first via search engine optimization and threaten academic integrity

The rise of questionable journals poses a significant threat to academic integrity, resulting in substantial waste of institutional and university resources. This commentary analysis focuses on six hijacked medical journals, a specific type of questionable publication. We utilized Semrush, an online Search Engine Optimization auditing platform, to analyse our data, which revealed that hijacked journals disseminate their content through search engines. Specifically, searches for certain medical keywords return hijacked medical journals’ content among the top 20 results. Evidence from both previous research and the current study suggests that hijacked journals leverage various channels for content dissemination, including artificial intelligence chatbots, citation databases, spam emails, and search engines. Raising awareness about this issue is crucial to mitigating the immediate harm caused by these journals. Furthermore, long-term solutions will necessitate advancements in technological development to combat this evolving problem effectively.

Test calculation for logic and delay faults in digital circuits

The paper presents a test calculation principle which serves for producing tests for logic and delay faults in digital circuits. Switch-level logic faults in CMOS circuits are also considered. The delay faults manifest themselves in the incorrect timing behavior of some logic elements within the network. Both single and multiple faults are included. The proposed method handles multi-valued logic, where the number of logic values is unlimited. The level of circuit modeling is also allowed to vary in a wide range: switch level, gate level, functional level, register-transfer level are equally allowed. Both combinational and sequential circuits are considered. The principle is comparatively simple, and it yields an opportunity to be realized by an efficient computer program. © 2006 IEEE.

Attitudes of z generation to job searching through social media

Social media is a relatively new player in the online labour market, with an increasingly important role among the younger generation. The aim of this research was to assess the job search habits and opinions of young people, particularly university students. The survey was conducted on the students in Austria and Hungary via e-mail and social media in March 2020. In analysing the results, we look at what today's younger generation is focusing on when looking for a job, and how companies adapt to the new situation that has been brought about by the widespread use of social media. The purpose of this study is to examine the trends in online job search among “Generation Z”. As the survey shows, Generation Z prefers online job search over older methods just as they spend a huge portion of their free time on social media platforms. The data shows that while traditional types of recruitment such as newspaper advertising are on the decline, the function of social media is no longer simply immersed in entertainment and chat, but also spread actively on recruitment and human resources management.
