SOCIAL EXPENDITURE MULTIPLIER: ASSESSMENT OF ECONOMIC EFFECT AND OPTIMAL VALUES

The main aim of the study is to test the hypothesis that social expenditures are not only a source of social support and budgeting of the social sphere, but can be a significant lever of economic development, provided proper planning of their share and volume. In this regard, the authors have adapted the open-economy multiplier to assess the economic effect of social expenditures. Based on the correlation analysis of the relationship between the share of social expenditures (% of GDP) and the multiplier of social expenditures, conducted on the example of EU countries, two groups of countries are identified depending on the impact of social expenditure multiplier on GDP: the first one embraces those countries that are characterized by a growing economic return from social expenditures; the second one is where the return is declining. To determine the optimal levels of social expenditures, which can be expected to have a positive economic effect in the form of GDP growth, we have identified critical limits of the multiplier of social expenditures according to the principle: the maximum value is seen in the group of countries with positive impact; the minimal one is experienced in countries with inverse dependence of the share of social expenditures and their multiplier. As a result, the experience of financing social expenditures in the EU leads to the conclusion that the optimal share of social expenditures in GDP ranges from 28% to 30% – within these limits multiplier values exceed 1.0, i.e. there is a positive impact of social expenditures on GDP in the form of the growth of economic results over the resources consumed.

VARIANCE AND DEVIATIONS IN THE BUDGETS OF REGIONAL ENTERPRISES AS AN ELEMENT OF RISK MEASUREMENT IN THE PROBABILISTIC MODEL

The aim of this article is to develop models that can measure probabilistic budget volatility risk in a manner that is not dependent on the type of cost or financing unit. Budgets are essential tools in facilitating the management process of any organization, while budget control helps optimize resource allocation and enhance operational efficiency. Using the methodology of budget deviation analysis can significantly improve the management of organizational units. However, the authors identify a research gap in terms of both methodology and application when it comes to analyzing the risk of budget variances. To address this, the authors develop models based on the theory of extreme values. The models can determine the deviation level for a specific probability level and estimate the limit level of deviation for assumed probabilities. These models can be used to holistically evaluate the level of budget implementation in the enterprise, compare the quality of budget implementation overtime and across units, and identify materiality limits of budget variances. To validate the models, empirical data from the budget control system of a major European city university was used. Empirical distributions obtained from the data were used to determine budget variances that indicate the level of deviation for a given probability level.

Influencer-consumer fit and intention to co-create brand value: The serial mediation of influencer authenticity and attitude toward brand

Social media influencer marketing has emerged as an essential marketing strategy in the online interactive environment. This study investigates the impact of influencer-consumer fit (ICF) on behavioral intentions; intention to co-create brand value (ICC) and purchase intention (PI), with the serial mediation of influencer authenticity (IA) and attitude toward brand (ATB). A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to followers of social media influencers in Pakistan. The data were collected from 421 female followers of social media influencers through survey and partial least squares—structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. The findings reveal that ICF impacts IA, while the latter impacts ATB. ATB in turn impacts behavioral intentions. The direct effects suggest that ICF impacts consumers’ PI but not the ICC. However, with the serial mediation of IA and ATB, the relationship becomes significant. The findings of this study may assist managers in building brand strategies to achieve excellence in a highly dynamic and competitive market by leveraging the power of influencer marketing.

The role of forestry sciences in combating climate change and advancing sustainable development goals

Introduction: As ecological disasters loom, forests play a crucial role in mitigating climate change and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to systematically examine the contribution of forestry science research to the SDGs through a multidisciplinary perspective, highlighting its role in advancing global sustainability efforts. Methods: Utilizing the PRISMA protocol, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of 39,841 publications since 2015, focusing on the intersection of forestry sciences with the SDGs. Network and keyword co-occurrence analyses were performed to identify thematic clusters and interdisciplinary linkages among SDGs. Results: Our findings indicate a significant focus on SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), emphasizing the forestry sector’s contributions to biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and ecosystem services. The analyses revealed thematic clusters centered around ecological sustainability, sustainable energy, and social development, demonstrating the diverse ways in which forestry research supports the SDGs. Discussion: This study highlights the interdisciplinary nature of forestry sciences and identifies key areas of contribution while pointing to potential research gaps. Future research should explore advanced technologies such as AI-driven analytics and remote sensing, socioeconomic impacts of forest-based livelihoods, and innovative reforestation techniques. Strengthening urban forestry, enhancing interdisciplinary cooperation, and improving governance are recommended to ensure continued contributions of forestry sciences to global sustainability and the SDGs.

An Analysis of Consumer Decision-Making in Digital Mobile Payment Adoption: Exploring Influencing Factors

Despite every one of the upsides of mobile payment services (MPs), they are unutilized by a sizable client base. This paper analyzes the central drivers of utilizing MPs for purchasing purposes from the consumers' point of view in Uzbekistan. Given the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the study built up a seven-figure model to uncover the determinants of customers' goals to utilize MPs. 300 respondents in Uzbekistan were selected, and 276 substantial responses were incorporated into the analysis. The structural equation model results applied that customers' goal to utilize MPs for purchasing purposes is impacted by trust, system usefulness, social influence, risk, hedonic motivation, and attitude. The factor, facilitating conditions was not significant interestingly which the most distinct finding of that study is. Considering the findings and discussion, the paper concludes with the notion that mobile payment as a digital innovative financial technology is influenced by most of the factors that mobile operators should look at closely.

Role of technology development, organizational development and individual development on knowledge sharing in developing country

The purpose of this research study is to identify the factors of knowledge sharing among library professionals of higher educational institutions of Pakistan. There are very few studies on the knowledge exchange between library professionals in Pakistan’s higher education institutions. In this study model which has all the elements used to examine the knowledge sharing, in the study researcher investigate the impact of technological, organizational and individual on library professionals’ knowledge sharing behavior. The study adopted a descriptive survey design as research design and quantitative as type of research type. Questionnaire was adapted and used to collect data from 240 librarians through Google form survey in the higher educational institutions. The population of study is higher educational institutions of Pakistan. Convenience sampling techniques was used for data collection. The data were analyzed through the measurement model and structural equation model (PLS-SEM). The results of the study technological development, organizational development and individual development are significant for knowledge sharing in higher educational intuitions in Pakistan. This study gave new insights through to policy makers for the future polices to higher authorities.

Nonlinear Static Analysis for Seismic Evaluation of Existing RC Hospital Building

Nonlinear Static Analysis otherwise known as pushover analysis will be used in this study to evaluate the seismic performance of an existing reinforced concrete (RC) hospital structure. This method aids in determining the structure’s ability to withstand lateral loads and calculating its local and global deformation requirements. The study begins with a thorough analysis of the geometry, materials, and structural elements of the structure, followed by a review of pertinent building regulations and codes. A finite element model in three dimensions of the hospital building is created, encapsulating the main features of the structure’s behavior under seismic loading. The lateral force method of analysis and static pushover analysis is then carried out and compared, and the findings are used to pinpoint crucial weak places, potential failure mechanisms, and regions needing additional research or fortification. Recommendations are given to improve the seismic performance of the current RC hospital building based on the pushover analysis’s findings. These adjustments can be made to the structural system via retrofitting techniques or to non-structural elements. For engineers, architects, and legislators concerned with the seismic assessment and renovation of hospital buildings and other crucial infrastructure, the findings from this study are valuable.

The role of organizational and individual-level factors for the inclusion of women managers in Japan

Purpose: This study aims to analyze and contrast the role of organizational and individual level factors in influencing the effective participation of women managers in decision-making in Japanese business organizations. Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative study based on 21 in-depth interviews with women and men in managerial positions in Japanese organizations is adopted. Findings: Results show that gender equality structures and practices are not effectively institutionalized within Japanese organizations. In particular, corporate social responsibility programs are perceived by women respondents to be formally adopted to gain legitimacy in the eyes of foreign investors. However, they lack effectiveness in giving the woman manager a “voice” in business decisions. Organizational practices such as leadership development and mentoring are generally not evident in the organizations analyzed. Conversely, the personal traits of the woman manager, such as determination, self-confidence and “being able to confront men colleagues” are the factors perceived to be crucial in influencing women’s participation in decisions. Social implications: The study suggests that to increase the weight of women managers in Japanese organizations’ decision-making, action is still needed within organizations to create a true diversity-culture. Additionally, action at the educational level has to remove women’s own self-segregation. Originality/value: The study offers novel evidence on the “glass ceiling” in Japanese businesses by investigating whether women’s access to management positions corresponds to effective decision power. The study also highlights the key enabling factors, therefore contributing to the analysis of how to create more effective gender “diversity” within Japanese businesses.

Numerical Investigation of the Effect of Longitudinal Fiberglass Dowels on Tunnel Face Support in Layered Soils

Tunnel face extrusion rigidity is an important factor for solving stress–strain problems in loose ground conditions. In previous studies, the effect of horizontal and vertical soil layering on tunnel excavation face stability in the presence of longitudinal fiberglass dowels has not been studied. Therefore, in this study, the effect of fiberglass dowels on the stability of the tunnel face in layered soil has been investigated. In this matter, the best dowel arrangement for minimizing the excavation face extrusion in the case of two-layer soil (horizontal or vertical) has been focused on. For this purpose, firstly, a 3D numerical model was validated based on field data provided previously, and then a 3D numerical tunnel was developed in FLAC3D, adopting the Mohr–Coulomb failure criterion. In continuation, the effect of tunnel diameter, initial pressure ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 MPa, and different placement angles of fiberglass dowels ranging from 0 to 9 degrees, with respect to the tunnel longitudinal axes on the tunnel face extrusion, have been investigated. In the case of horizontal layering, the results showed that the maximum extrusion rate is significantly increased where the elasticity modulus of the soil is reduced. In addition, comparing the maximum extrusion in vertical and horizontal layering, it was found that its value in the horizontal mode is much higher than in the vertical. Additionally, the extrusion of the tunnel face has changed significantly due to an alteration in the initial stress. Finally, it was discovered that tunnel face extrusion is not significantly affected by altering the angle of the fiberglass dowels.
