Psychometric Validation of the Modified, Short Version of the Problematic Pornography Consumption Scale in Serbian

Publication Name: Sexual Health and Compulsivity

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 32

Issue: 2

Page Range: 105-128

Description:

Pornography is used worldwide, and 3% of individuals may experience problematic pornography use (PPU, i.e. poorly controlled use resulting in significant distress and negative consequences). Therefore, instruments gauging PPU are needed in nation-specific languages. This study aimed to validate a modified version of the Problematic Pornography Consumption Scale-6 (PPCS-6) in the Serbian language among 1413 adults (52.9% males) aged from 18 to 54 (Mage = 24.96, SD = 4.46). Exploratory factor analysis on the sample’s random half yielded a single factor explaining 43% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis on the sample’s other half revealed an acceptable model fit. Internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) was acceptable. The scale exhibited configural and partial metric invariance across genders and convergent validity. Latent profile analysis identified that 8.1% of the participants were at risk of experiencing PPU. In comparison, this value was 9.6% based on a calculated cutoff score (≥ 19) with acceptable values (.69 and.96) of sensitivity and specificity. To conclude, the Serbian modified version of the PPCS-6 appears to be a valid and reliable scale for screening PPU.

Evaluation of Fim Performance under Merger and Acquisition Effect: An Integrated LOPCOW-PIV Approach

Publication Name: Decision Making Applications in Management and Engineering

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 8

Issue: 1

Page Range: 588-614

Description:

Merger and Acquisition (MA) is one of the critical strategic decisions for the firms that impact the existence and growth of the organizations. The present paper undertakes the context of MA and aims to compare performance of some of the recent acquirers using fundamental financial ratios and market indicators. The study period spans over four consecutive financial years (FY 2019-20 to FY 2022-23). To carry out a comprehensive evaluation of firm performance, the current work uses a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) framework of LOPCOW (Logarithmic Percentage Change-driven Objective Weighting) and PIV (Proximity Index Value) methods. To aggregate the year wise rankings of the firms, Borda Count and Rank Index Method (RIM) is used. It is observed that ROE (C1), Net Profit Margin (C4) and EPS (C9) obtained the highest weights over the study period. On aggregate, we find that Infosys (A4), HUL (A3) and ITC (A1) show top performance while Vodafone (A11), PVR Inox (A9) and IDFC First Bank (A13) remain in the bottom bracket. The comparative analysis with other MCDM models reveals that the ranking results are consistent while the outcome of the sensitivity analysis reflects the stability. The present work provides a new perspective to the investors, policy makers and analysts.

Generational perspectives on menstrual health management in Indonesia: contrasts between Millennials and Gen Z

Publication Name: Cogent Social Sciences

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 11

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Menstrual health management (MHM) reflects a complex interaction of educational, socio-cultural, economic, and environmental influences. While various aspects of MHM have been explored in previous studies, little attention has been given to how these factors differ across generations. This study examines generational variations in MHM among Indonesian women, focusing on Millennials (born 1981–1996) and Generation Z (born 1997–2012). Using a quantitative survey involving 334 participants, consisting of 171 Millennials and 163 Gen Z participants, the study investigates attitudes, practices, and behaviors related to MHM. Results show broad similarities between the two cohorts, alongside notable differences in three areas: monthly spending on menstrual products, adequacy of initial menstrual education, and use of environmentally friendly menstrual products. Millennials reported higher spending and greater engagement to sustainable products, likely due to stronger financial stability, whereas Gen Z participants demonstrated better early menstrual education and digital information access. The study highlights the need for inclusive and generation-responsive menstrual health programs that represent Indonesia’s diverse cultural and socio-economic contexts.

A Fuzzy Framework for Assessing and Prioritizing Railway Infrastructure Retrofitting against Seismic Hazards – A Case Study

Publication Name: Acta Polytechnica Hungarica

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 22

Issue: 4

Page Range: 263-283

Description:

The railway system plays a crucial role in a nation's economy and society, extending beyond mere transportation. In earthquake-prone regions like Razavi Khorasan in Iran, railway infrastructure is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, which can severely disrupt train operations. Ensuring the safety of critical infrastructure, including stations, bridges, tunnels, and railway lines, is essential for maintaining operational integrity and public safety. This study evaluates and prioritizes seismic retrofitting measures for railway infrastructures in Razavi Khorasan. The fuzzy Delphi method is used to gather expert opinions, while the Fuzzy VIKOR method facilitates the prioritization process. Key assessment criteria include seismic intensity potential, vulnerability potential of the zone in terms of distance from the fault, the degree of criticality of the infrastructure in terms of the possibility of continuing transportation operations and the current state of the infrastructure in terms of the state of retrofitting against seismic hazards. The findings reveal critical railway segments that require immediate retrofitting interventions and highlight overall vulnerabilities within the system. This paper underscores the effective application of fuzzy logic methodologies in complex decision making scenarios, offering actionable recommendations to enhance the seismic retrofitting of railway infrastructures.

The development of vehicle simulation models is becoming increasingly important, especially for the virtual validation of new automotive features. New methods are emerging that need to be tested and validated to ensure their proper functioning. The use of artificial intelligence methods can accelerate product development processes, so it is essential for companies to examine the applicability of these solutions. This article compares the results of a traditional rule-based transmission model and an artificial intelligence-based transmission model against real vehicle measurements. Creating a transmission model using the new artificial intelligence-based method requires less time and effort than developing a rule-based model. However, experimental data is required to train the model. This paper addresses the challenges of artificial intelligence-based transmission modeling and highlights the new advantages of artificial intelligence-based solutions.

Creating a business model in the context of changes in the macro environment

Publication Name: Journal of International Studies

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 18

Issue: 1

Page Range: 284-296

Description:

In recent decades, the development of product-profit corporate business models has emerged as a significant topic of interest for corporate managers and academics. This paper examines the creation of product-profit corporate business models in a specific industry during a crisis period. The study sample comprised over 260 companies over 2021 and 2022. The research employed correlation analysis, one-criteria ANOVA, and Dimensional Analysis to test four hypotheses. The research results showed that the components of the corporate environment (microenvironment, meso-environment, and macro-environment) are interconnected. The significance of the meso-environment in generating business models was confirmed, highlighting its impact on competitiveness and profitability. The findings indicated a shift in the conceptualization of business models based on corporate margin creation. Economic, political-legal, and technical-technological factors were found to play increasingly important roles. The study also disproved the hypothesis regarding the time dimension in corporate or business strategy innovation. Corporate practice has reduced the time intervals for innovation from years to the current timeframe of months. This suggests a disconnect between corporate practice and scientific research in business model projection. Overall, this article addresses the scientific knowledge deficit surrounding specific business models for individual industries. It provides insights into effective business model projection and implementation strategies sought by business managers.

Criteria-Based Selection of Cycling Infrastructure: Comparative Analysis of European Guidelines †

Publication Name: Engineering Proceedings

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 113

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Determining suitable cycling infrastructure is essential for transport planners in European countries seeking to improve safety, promote sustainability, and encourage active travel. This paper compares national cycling infrastructure guidelines from Ukraine, Hungary, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Slovakia. The analysis focuses on key aspects such as infrastructure se-lection criteria (traffic volume, speed), threshold values, design flexibility, contextual integration, and safety performance. Although motor traffic volume and speed are regarded as essential parameters in all countries, implementation and thresholds differ significantly. The Dutch CROW manual enforces the strictest separation guidelines, while Ukraine allows mixed traffic even in higher-speed environments. The UK’s LTN 1/20 emphasizes contextual design and quality, while Hungary and Slovakia rely on matrix-based methods. The findings highlight the need for standardization and alignment with global safety norms.
