In addition to economic challenges, employers are also facing a growing generation gap. Generations that are significantly different in terms of values, mindsets and preferences need to be effectively managed in a workplace, which requires complex solutions. In this paper we present sub results of our primary research. In a quantitative procedure, we conducted a pre-tested standardized questionnaire online survey with random sample making method, resulting in 1146 evaluable questionnaires. Descriptive statistics to evaluate the results presented in this study. Descriptive statistics, bivariate and multivariate analyses were applied to process the quantitative results, to test the hypotheses put forward. The main focus of our research is to investigate the factors that influence employees' choice of jobs, and we analyzed the structure of their preference system. As a result of the research, we were able to identify distinct clusters according to the preference system of job selection. In the context of the resulting segments, we also analyzed which motivational tools could be most effective in encouraging higher performance. We believe that our research has useful implications for practice, by highlighting how to differentiate the pool of employees in terms of job choice and how to apply effective incentives to a specific segment.

Applying IoT Sensors and Big Data to Improve Precision Crop Production: A Review

The potential benefits of applying information and communication technology (ICT) in precision agriculture to enhance sustainable agricultural growth were discussed in this review article. The current technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as their applications, must be integrated into the agricultural sector to ensure long-term agricultural productivity. These technologies have the potential to improve global food security by reducing crop output gaps, decreasing food waste, and minimizing resource use inefficiencies. The importance of collecting and analyzing big data from multiple sources, particularly in situ and on-the-go sensors, is also highlighted as an important component of achieving predictive decision making capabilities in precision agriculture and forecasting yields using advanced yield prediction models developed through machine learning. Finally, we cover the replacement of wired-based, complicated systems in infield monitoring with wireless sensor networks (WSN), particularly in the agricultural sector, and emphasize the necessity of knowing the radio frequency (RF) contributing aspects that influence signal intensity, interference, system model, bandwidth, and transmission range when creating a successful Agricultural Internet of Thing Ag-IoT system. The relevance of communication protocols and interfaces for presenting agricultural data acquired from sensors in various formats is also emphasized in the paper, as is the function of 4G, 3G, and 5G technologies in IoT-based smart farming. Overall, these research sheds light on the significance of wireless sensor networks and big data in the future of precision crop production

Enhancing ultrafiltration performance for dairy wastewater treatment using a 3D printed turbulence promoter

Dairy factories annually generate an increasing amount of wastewater, which can cause eutrophication due to high concentrations of amino acids and lipids. To address this issue, membrane technology has emerged as a promising solution, but membrane fouling remains a significant challenge, since it can cause decreased flux, decrease membrane rejection performance, and increased energy demand. This study aimed to reduce membrane fouling by integrated a three-dimensional printed (3DP) turbulence promoter into an ultrafiltration dead-end cell and varying stirring speeds. Two mathematical models, Hermia and resistance-in-series, were used to analyze the fouling process. According to both models, the cake layer formation model indicated the most prevalent fouling mechanism. Specific energy demand, permeate flux, membrane rejection, and membrane reversible and irreversible resistances were measured, calculated, and compared. The results suggest that the combination of an integrated 3DP turbulence promoter and high stirring speeds can effectively reduce membrane fouling in a dairy wastewater treatment module.

Effect of Different Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria on Biological Soil Properties, Growth, Yield and Quality of Oregano (Origanum onites L.)

Intensive agriculture uses continuous chemical fertilizers to increase crop yields, but excessive use of fertilizers leads to environmental pollution, permanent changes in physicochemical conditions in soil ecology, deterioration of soil biological health, leaching of nutrients, surface and groundwater pollution and eutrophication. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are becoming increasingly important for ensuring crop safety, increasing nutrient uptake and output, lowering fertilizer costs, preventing environmental contamination and promoting sustainable agriculture and agricultural resources. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate the effects of fifteen bacteria strains that were isolated from various acidic rhizospheric soils as biofertilizers on soil biological properties. Growth, yield and quality traits were analyzed, and various PGPR were identified using 16S ribosomal RNA of Turkish oregano. Fifteen bacterial inoculations with 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) deaminase, N2-fixing, P-solubilizing and/or IAA-producing genes were used in the experiment, which was carried out in a randomized block design with five replicates (each with three pots) and a control without inoculation. Increased biological activity in soil inoculated with bacteria with multiple traits was confirmed by high C and N content in microbial biomass, urease, dehydrogenase and acid and alkaline phosphatase activities. Essential oil content, oil yield, thymol and carvacrol contents increased by 0.5–40.1%, 5.9–71.9%, 0.07–16.7% and 0.3–9.2%, respectively, as a result of bacterial inoculation. Oil content ranged from 2.02% to 2.83%; carvacrol (66.1–72.2%) was the main constituent, followed by thymol (14.5–16.9%) and linalool (1.38–3.68%). Two large PGPR groups were formed based on genetic distance analysis. Responses were variable and depended on the inoculant strain and the parameters being evaluated. The results indicate PGPR has clear potential for improving the yield of cultivated aromatic and essential oil plants, such as oregano.

The aptness of import-led growth hypothesis for sustainable development in South Asia: Do energy utilization and natural resources matter?

In recent years, the escalating trade activities (imports and exports) have spurred a growing body of research on their linkages with economic progress and sustainability. However, the impacts of imports and export diversification on sustainable economic growth have been rarely explored. This paper aims to fill this gap by exploring the role of import product diversification in the sustainable economic performance of South Asian countries. More precisely, this paper introduces the export-led growth hypothesis and explores the role of import product diversification, natural resources, and human capital for sustainable economic growth. Empirically, this paper uses data from 1995 to 2020 with 9 South Asian economies and runs advanced panel cointegration techniques along with long-run estimation techniques robust to endogeneity, cross-sectional dependence, autocorrelation, and other panel data problems. The outcomes display a significant correlation between import product diversification, natural resources, and sustainable development. The findings can provide insights to formulate efficient import diversification strategies for sustainable growth, especially in developing countries.

Euro area economic growth between 2010 and 2019 in the light of secular stagnation theory

Achieving economic growth remains an important issue for economic policy today. Growth in developed economies has slowed considerably in recent decades. In our study, we examine economic growth in the euro area between 2010 and 2019 in the light of secular stagnation theory. The concept of secular stagnation was developed by Hansen after the Great Depression of 1929-33. According to this theory, the causes of secular stagnation are low population growth and weak technological development. The concept was brought back into the economic discourse after 2010 by Summers. Following the 2008 crisis, euro area economies should have adjusted to a higher growth rate. Instead, growth remained below 2% for all but one year, below potential output for most of the decade. Investment rates have barely risen despite euro interest rates falling to near zero. The euro areas population barely grew despite a net migration surplus, putting a brake on employment growth. The available data suggest that neither employment growth nor productivity growth have boosted economic growth. The low level of economic growth and the evolution of the underlying factors are consistent with the theoretical assumptions described by Hansen and his followers.

A case study on the capacity of a signalized circular intersection

Analyzing the capacity of a signalized circular intersection is an essential aspect of traffic flow management. With the increased number of vehicles at the intersection, it is preferable to examine ways to increase capacity without altering the existing geometric features. A signalized circular intersection on the national highway in Gyor, Hungary, between 47° 40′ 43.7988″ N and 17° 39′ 37.6668″ E is chosen and analyzed for capacity enhancement. The survey is conducted using 360-degree cameras. The PTV Vissim software is then used to construct a model based on the current and projected vehicle counts, as well as the current and proposed options. The result shows that it is possible to increase the capacity of signalized circular intersections without altering the geometric features.

The role of driver's eye height in the design of crest curves of roads

The driver's eye height from the ground, as what drivers can see on the road, is essential for their safety and for avoiding road hazards. Using the statistical analysis of vehicles sample, the statistical parameters of the measured set of values were determined. A one-sample t-test was done to check whether the measured sample differs from the driver's eye height value specified in the Hungarian design guidelines. A new range of driver's eye height has been found, which is considered an update to the current value and might be applied in the upcoming road design. Parallel with the eye-height analysis, sight distances at vertical crest curves were modeled by AutoCAD Civil 3D. The minimum radiuses of the crest curves were defined for human eye height and for sensors of autonomous vehicles.
