The aim of motorway networks is to ensure smooth, high volume road traffic. The problem of anomalies in the system has been a longstanding concern for researchers, and with the widespread use of motorway networks a series of studies have been published on the subject. Speed limitation is one of the most important tools of mitigating disturbances. This study is looking for a solution to the problem known as the "shock wave effect". The research is based on a simulation method in a PTV VISSIM environment. The software can be used to examine certain traffic conditions, and then apply dynamic speed limitation based on these conditions. The Built Environment Information Platform (BENIP) is based on the idea that the built environment, the traffic, and the flow of information between them are closely related. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that a point-based notification of speed limits can be used for vehicles – a technology that is available in most cases at the infrastructure level on motorways – thus, improving road capacity and traffic safety.

Description:

Bass notes of pianos exhibit high degree of inharmonicity that means that frequencies of overtones depart from integer multiples of the fundamental frequency. Small amount of inharmonicity is tolerable for musicians and listeners, but higher ones cause unpleasant metallic tone. Reducing inharmonicity the first step is to investigate all influencing factors. This paper deals with effects of bending stiffness and nonuniform winding of wounded strings. As there is no reliable information in literature on bending stiffness data, a measuring procedure has been elaborated that is based on analysis of frequencies of overtones and the mathematical model of a vibrating string. Gained bending stiffness data opens the door to further quantitative investigations to reduce inharmonicity and improve sound generation methods of digital pianos.

The transformative potential of blockchain technology in the renewable energy sector is increasingly gaining recognition for its capacity to enhance energy efficiency, enable decentralized trading, and ensure transaction transparency. However, despite its growing importance, there exists a significant knowledge gap in the holistic understanding of its integration and impact within this sector. Addressing this gap, the current study employs a pioneering approach, marking it as the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis in this field. We have systematically examined 390 journal articles from the Web of Science database, covering the period from 2017 through the end of February 2024, to map the current landscape and thematic trajectories of blockchain technology in renewable energy. The findings highlight several critical thematic areas, including blockchain's integration with smart grids, its role in electric vehicle integration, and its application in sustainable urban energy systems. These themes not only illustrate the diverse applications of blockchain but also its substantial potential to revolutionize energy systems. This study not only fills a crucial gap in existing literature but also sets a precedent for future interdisciplinary research in this domain, bridging theoretical insights with practical applications to fully harness the potential of blockchain in the renewable energy sector.

This paper describes entity-flow phase analysis (EFA) which is a method for fast performance analysis of organisational process systems. EFA, similarly to traffic-flow analysis for communication systems (TFA), uses the combined approach of simulation and numerical methods. In simulation projects initiated to support the design of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) system and Business Process (BP) system in an organisation the parallel analysis of different systems may be efficient. EFA is a promising evaluation method to be applied for systems with determined BP and ICT subsystems in an organisational environment.

The paper offers evolving Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models for a nonlinear benchmark represented by the pendulum-crane system and focused on the dynamics of pendulum angular position behavior. The rule bases and parameters of T-S fuzzy models are continuously evolved by an online identification algorithm in terms of computing the potentials of new data points. Accepting the pendulum angle as model output, two T-S fuzzy models are derived, viz. with a single input and with three inputs. The experimental results are obtained for a pendulum-crane laboratory equipment system and they show the performance of the proposed evolving T-S fuzzy models. © 2012 IEEE.

J-K flip-flops are the most general elementary units in sequential digital circuits. By extending Boolean operations to their respective fuzzy counterparts various fuzzy flipflops (F3) can be defined. Because of the axiomatic properties of fuzzy operations are considerably weaker then the properties satisfied by Boolean lattices, the minterm and maxterm type definitions of the same F3 are as a rule not equivalent. In former work we found a unique exception where simulation investigations lead to identical results for all parameter combinations examined. The base of this unique F3 is a pair of non-associative fuzzy connectives. In this paper the exact proof is given for the identity of the two definitions, i.e., for the uniqueness of the definition of this special non-associative F3.

The issue of food waste is a significant global challenge that is closely linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are of critical importance in addressing this issue, spearheading initiatives aimed at curbing overproduction and waste. This study introduces the principal non-governmental organisations (NGOs) engaged in food waste reduction and assesses the extent of public awareness of their activities in Hungary. The research is based on secondary data and an online survey of 231 respondents. It explores initiatives such as shopping communities, the Hungarian Food Bank Association, the No Leftovers program, and the Munch app. The findings indicate that food rescue organisations are not widely recognised, which constrains their potential impact. However, younger generations demonstrate greater engagement with digital food-saving solutions. The lack of public awareness underscores the necessity for enhanced marketing and educational initiatives. Furthermore, the study identifies a generational and socioeconomic divide, with younger, higher-income individuals demonstrating a greater commitment to sustainable practices. The study offers insights into how NGOs can enhance their impact through the strategic use of technology and targeted communication.

Western societies are facing the same problems worldwide regarding the provision of public transport services in rural, sparsely populated and peripheral areas. One of the main reasons is that due to the increasing number of cars (which can satisfy the mobility needs much better), the number of passengers of public transport services are steadily decreasing (ITF, 2015). However, we do not forget that supplying these areas with public transportation have in fact always been problematic: the dispersed settlement network is a given fact as well as the low population density that never generated high demand (Ambrosino, Nelson & Romanazzo, 2003). Passengers of public transport in rural areas are not classified by the majority of international literature as voluntary travellers on public transport vehicles, but who belong to those groups which stand in need of travelling by them. Regarding this issue, the major starting-point is the ability to have access to car which can be modified by other factors (financial situation, sex, age, physical condition, type of household, foreign language skills etc.). Those people who have limited or no access to car are thus constrained by the schedule of public transport vehicles and depend on its reliability or even no access to any transport mode belongs to the group of transport deprived. The purpose of this article is twofold: to introduce those groups who are suffering from the decline of public transport in rural areas and to highlight the necessity of these researches in Central and Eastern Europe.

This paper focuses on the design and comparative analysis of speed-dependent lateral control systems for autonomous vehicles, focusing on optimizing vehicular dynamics and passenger comfort to ensure stability and safety. Adapting control systems to varying speeds becomes crucial for maintaining stability and maneuverability as autonomous technologies progress. This study evaluates their effectiveness in real-time navigation scenarios within a simulated environment by applying gain-scheduled linear quadratic regulators and model predictive control. The results show that while traditional controllers, such as Pure Pursuit, perform adequately under constant speed conditions, adaptive model-based algorithms significantly enhance the performance, especially in dynamic driving situations involving speed variations.
