Evaluation of training to improve auditory memory Capabilities on a mobile device based on a serious game application

Capabilities of the auditory memory system were tested in a serious game application developed for the Android mobile platform. Participants played the well-known game of finding pairs by flipping and remembering objects on cards arranged in a matrix structure. Visual objects were replaced by iconic auditory events (auditory icons, earcons). Total time and different error rates were recorded and the effect of training was also evaluated. Results indicate that training contributes to a better performance and human voice samples are the easiest to remember.

The design of inductors is not an easy and cheap task considering the dimensions, the nominal value of inductance, the quality factor and the impedance of the component. Before the beginning of manufacturing a new type of inductors, a lot of trial components have to produce, have to measure and have to try out. Finite element modeling is a well-tried process to examine engineering products before manufacturing them. To reduce the cost and the time of the design process, in the paper a finite element model has been built up to simulate inductors. In the paper the model is presented, which is able to simulate the important attributes of the component, for example the inductance, the impedance and the quality factor. The comparison of the experimental and the simulated attributes of the inductor will also be shown. By using the built up model the development possibilities of the inductor have been examined through the modification of the winding.

The effect magnitude was measured using the standard mean difference. The risk of bias inherent in each of the studies that were meticulously selected and included in the comprehensive analysis was rigorously evaluated and assessed using the well-established Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Assessment Tool, ensuring the robustness and reliability of the research findings. Results: Three scientific databases yielded a total of 1460 studies, of which 7 were included in the final analysis. The findings indicated that eccentric training (0.01 in Rank 1 and 0.06 in Rank 8) is the worst method for increasing VISA-P level in patients with patellar tendinopathy, while moderate resistance slow training (0.25) and Rank 1 and Rank 8 are the best options. Conclusions: While heavy slow resistance is more suited for attaining long-term improvements in knee function, progressive tendon-loading exercises combined with isometric training or moderate slow resistance training are more beneficial than eccentric training alone. Eccentric training gives a greater range of exercise venues and doesn't require any additional training equipment. The inability to directly compare the effects of heavy slow, eccentric, and isometric resistance training constitutes a significant drawback of this review. This limitation stems from the scarcity of research that compares the outcomes of these various therapeutic approaches. To address this constraint, future research endeavors should strive to conduct comparative studies of these strategies. By doing so, they can aim to bridge this evaluation gap and facilitate a more effective and comprehensive assessment of their respective efficacies.

In this study reliability based limit analysis is used to determine the ultimate capacity of laterally loaded piles. The aim of this study is to evaluate the lateral load capacity of free-head and fixed-head long pile when plastic limit analysis is considered. In addition to the plastic limit analysis to control the plastic behaviour of the structure, uncertain bound on the complementary strain energy of the residual forces is also applied. This bound has significant effect for the load parameter. The solution to reliability-based problems is based on a direct integration technique and the uncertainties are assumed to follow Gaussian distribution. The optimization procedure is governed by the reliability index calculation.

Recombinant Potyvirus lilimaculae in asymptomatic Galanthus nivalis: Ecological and evolutionary implications

Snowdrops are economically important early-spring flowering geophytes. They are protected both in Hungary and across the European Union, and their international trade is regulated under the Washington Convention. Despite their importance, viro-logical research on Galanthus species and cultivars remains limited. To date, only a single virus, Snowdrop virus Y, a tentative member of the genus Potyvirus within the family Potyviridae, has been identified in Galanthus. In this study, ten wild leaf samples and one cultivated, asymptomatic leaf samples were collected in accordance with the prescribed permit conditions. Both ELISA and RT-PCR tests were conducted, indicating infection by a Potyvirus. Direct sequencing of the PCR products revealed nucleotide heterogeneity in one sample, suggesting infection with multiple isolates of the same virus. In this case, the purified PCR product was ligated into pGEM®-T Easy vector. Individual clones were then sequenced to identify the distinct viral isolates present. A BLAST analysis of the sequences revealed that all three snowdrop isolates shared at least 96% identity in the complete coat protein region with the Potyvirus lilimaculae (lilí mottle virus, LMoV) isolate Handan (JF714974), previously identified in Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis from Hubei Province, China. To confirm pathogenicity, sap inoculation was performed on ELISA- and RT-PCR-negative snowdrops. One year later, these plants were re-tested via the same methods, which confirmed successful infection. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that all snowdrop isolates clustered within subgroup II and presented strong recombination signals. The detection of LMoV in asymptomatic wild plants has major implications for nature conservation, horticulture, virus reservoir identification, phytosanitary regulation, and our understanding of Potyviridae evolution.

In countries such as Hungary, the utilisation of solar energy for irrigation represents a pivotal consideration. As a consequence of climate change, the crop rotation period is characterised by an increased availability of sunny and bright days. A paucity of cloud cover and precipitation has distinguished recent Hungarian summers. The necessity for adaptation in agriculture, which produces raw materials for food, will also arise as a result of the increasingly extreme weather conditions caused by global climate change. The irrigation of crops is a vital process during increasingly frequent periods of drought. However, the cost of irrigation can be expected to rise significantly in response to elevated energy prices. The objective of this research is to ascertain the viability of utilising irrigation systems powered by renewable energy sources. Hungary is on the verge of a significant investment in its national irrigation infrastructure. Nevertheless, the investment may prove to be unprofitable as a result of the expense associated with the energy required for irrigation. In three research areas, the energy production of the solar farms associated with the pivot irrigation system has been monitored, and the hyper-local evapotranspiration data has been calculated. Regression analysis was employed to evaluate the results. The findings indicate that the dataset is significant. The field results and analysis can be useful for upfront investment in such projects. Precipitation, as a third variable, has a positive impact on the relationship between energy production and crop water demand.

Energy poverty dynamics and geostrategic shocks: Moderation of financial markets

Universal energy poverty is a key ingredient to social inequality, education barrier and poor health outcome. Therefore, it is crucial for policymakers to identify the factors that mitigates energy poverty. Present study examined the influence of geopolitical risk on energy poverty, focusing on financial market depth, access and efficiency in 42 economies, spanning 2000 to 2022, using instrument variable two stage least square (2SLS), three stage least square (3SLS) approach and double panel threshold regression. The estimation provides following observations. First, geopolitical risk significantly intensify energy poverty over time. Second, natural disasters is a more serious hindrance to energy access. Third, financial markets significantly moderates the favourable spillover effects of geopolitical risk on energy poverty, dampens negative effect of geopolitical risk, improving household energy access, and reducing vulnerability to external shocks. Alongside this, the research provide similar pattern in urban and rural concentration, indicating the severe effect of geopolitical and natural disaster risk in rural areas. Moreover, the research explored several other factors and prioritizes digitalization, economic growth and political liberty as the major attributes for mitigating energy poverty. Hence, this research, provides stronger support for the roles of financial markets and digitalization in mitigating the energy poverty in the long run. This paper further delves into the policy implications arising from the findings.

Differences, constraints and key elements of providing local sharing economy services in different-sized cities: A Hungarian case

The business models of sharing economy services can differ fromeach other in different-sized cities. This paper provides a deeper understanding of the implementation of locally operating services for car, bicycle and office sharing in the urban environment. Our goal is to reveal the differences between the capital city and an economically well-developed city in order to provide beneficial findings to the development of the presently operating services, or to the possible implementation of future services. Methodology of the paper applies the Business Model Canvas approach (BMC). We introduce a comparative analysis using data from the Hungarian database, which records details of all the publicly visible sharing economy services countrywide. The results show that BMC can reflect the main differences, constraints and key elements in the business models of sharing economy services. We can say that, in the case of a bike sharing service operated in the non-capital city, there is more segmentation than seen in the same service in the capital. There are significant price differences, especially in the case of long-term tickets. The number of inhabitants and private capital remain the biggest constraints in the case of car-sharing services, but there is also a possibility of implementation in the non-capital cities by applying small-scale services with a good value proposition and segmentation.
