Robotic applications have prominently emerged in automating a wide range of high-precision tasks in industry, logistics, health and military applications. More recently, applications focused on socio-cultural contexts, such as caretaking and personal assistance, have begun to gain traction. In parallel, earlier focus on mechanical and mathematical/control solutions has visibly shifted toward aspects of intelligent and collaborative functions. These changes have brought various aspects of the fields of cognitive infocommunications (CogInfoCom) and Internet of Digital Reality (IoD) to the forefront, both in terms of design methodologies and application areas. While CogInfoCom places emphasis on new kinds of cognitive capabilities / entities that are neither purely human, nor purely artificial, IoD highlights the integration of such capabilities and entities in networked settings created to support specific semantic contexts. Importantly, the scope of such capabilities and/or entities is not limited only to intelligent agents and collaborating humans but also to less capable agents (e.g., cyber-physical and industrial control devices). In a socio-cultural context, the interaction between a robot and other agents (particularly a human) can be viewed as the communication of cognitive entities through some form of Cognitive Infocommunication channels. This paper proposes a new way to view the communication between intelligent robots and cognitive entities.

Semester 2 of the academic year 2019/2020 has brought along a special situation and a variety of new solutions in education throughout the world. The emerging pandemic situation changed the system considerably by impeding both lecturers and students from working and meeting personally. Transition to online, distance education has also presented new challenges to educators, parents, teachers, university lecturers and students, as well as a new path of development. During our research, the experiences and difficulties gained by the members of Apaczai Csere Janos Faculty at Szechenyi István University in the past semester were examined with the help of an online questionnaire. Preliminary results show that the semester of distance learning, despite its difficulties, brought several positive results that enhanced teachers' creativity, pedagogical competencies as well as methodological culture of how the different tools and programs were used.

The nexus of IoT and aquaculture: A bibliometric analysis

The Internet of Things (IoT) in aquaculture presents significant opportunities for improving the sector's productivity, sustainability, and resilience. This study aims to achieve two primary goals: to deliver an extensive overview of IoT applications in aquaculture and to pinpoint emerging trends and research gaps, thereby directing future academic endeavors in the aquaculture field. Through bibliometric analysis, which involved keyword co-occurrence and article co-citation network analyses, we investigated 428 publications from 2012 to 2024 retrieved from Scopus. The review indicates a significant rise in investigative efforts, especially in recent years, highlighting the sector's increasing focus on the role of IoT in tackling the distinct challenges aquaculture faces, including water quality monitoring, disease prevention, and resource efficiency. Prominent themes recognized encompass advanced aquaculture systems, water quality and health monitoring, and sophisticated forecasting tools. This investigation enhances the existing knowledge base by emphasizing key themes, significant studies, and essential technological advancements in IoT-enabled aquaculture, providing one of the initial bibliometric assessments in this swiftly developing field. Future research should focus on enhancing interoperability among IoT devices, improving data security and privacy, integrating artificial intelligence for predictive analytics, and expanding IoT applications to support small-scale and resource-constrained aquaculture operations.

How to Create Organizational Resilience and Adaptability Through Embedded Plasticity-Rigidity Cycles

This paper explores how organizational network structures influence cascading failure propagation and how embedded plasticity–rigidity cycles can create resilience and adaptability. Using real industrial examples from IT-telecom manufacturing, the study demonstrates how small disturbances in highly connected, overly lean (anorexic) supply chains can escalate into large-scale cascading failures, leading to “bulimia states” characterized by simultaneous excesses and shortages. The research introduces the concept of embedded plasticity – the deliberate integration of adaptable nodes and teams at multiple organizational levels – to dissipate disruptions and maintain performance stability. By analyzing typical network motifs such as bi-fans and bi-parallels, the authors identify the structural sources of ambiguity and competition that amplify systemic fragility. The framework includes the design of dual plastic-rigid team structures that align internal dynamics with external fluctuation patterns. These embedded plasticity cycles enable swift adaptation without compromising process quality or productivity. Appropriate levels of plasticity, strategically distributed across organizational sub-networks, are key to ensuring the robustness, flexibility, and continuous learning of complex, interconnected care systems.

Effect of fermented liquid feeds on production parameters and gut microbiota composition of weaned piglets and growing pigs

In their review, the authors present the results of research evaluating the effect of fermented liquid feed on the performance and digestive health of weaned piglets and fattening pigs. Based on the available literature, it is advisable to carry out controlled fermentation instead of spontaneous fermentation, because by inoculating the feed / raw materials with specific lactic acid bacteria, the fermentation process goes in the right direction, lower pH values can be achieved within the same timeframe, which all help to control the acid-sensitive pathogenic microbes. The fermentation of only certain raw materials, as opposed to a complete diet, has the advantage of better controllability, and the incorporation of these fermented end products into final diets provides farms with increased flexibility. During fermentation, the particle size of the feed / raw materials and the levels of antinutritive substances are reduced, thereby increasing their digestibility. Feeding studies have shown that improvement in nutrient utilization is primarily due to better bioavailability of nutrients, as opposed to increased feed intake. Several works have demon-strated that fermented liquid feeds significantly reduce the pH of gastric juice, Salmonella spp. levels and the chance of developing diarrhoea caused by coliforms in piglets. Fermented feeds support gut health, thus also playing an immunomod-ulatory role. Taking all this into account, the authors believe that fermented liquid feeds in nutrition of pigs may be an effective alternative after the antibiotic reduction provisions come into force in the European Union in 2022.

The correspondences between formwork geometry and concrete composition in the case of fair-faced concrete elements

Modern architecture is unimaginable without fair-faced concrete. However, there is no generally accepted method for design the suitable concrete composition to get the required surface quality. This paper presents the effect of saturation degree on fair-faced concrete surfaces and raises additional research areas with regard to the formwork geometry and packing density of aggregate. This study is the first part of a wider research that aims to work out a method for determination of the adequate saturation degree of cement paste depending on the geometrical proportions of the formwork to reach the highest surface quality.

Ethical leadership and organizational resilience: exploring the interconnected dynamics

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into the mechanisms through which ethical leadership impacts organizational resilience and fill the gap in the existing literature that has largely studied the two variables in isolation. Design/methodology/approach This study uses a systematic literature review, using peer-reviewed articles focused on ethical leadership and organizational resilience published between 2018 and 2024. This study uses databases like Scopus, Google Scholar and Web of Science and keywords including “ethical leadership,” “organizational resilience” and their intersections. Findings The findings of this study are based on the review of 14 selected papers. The review found that ethical leadership significantly enhances organizational resilience by nurturing organizational culture (organizational learning culture, ethical culture, ethical reporting, system thinking and ethical climate), promoting organizational flexibility (ability to adapt and ability to innovate) and positively impacting human capital (employee ethical conduct, trust, readiness to change, citizenship behavior, creativity and commitment). Key findings indicate that ethical leaders influence the organizational culture, supporting resilience strategies. Research limitations/implications This study’s limitations include a limited literature search, restricted to certain databases and peer-reviewed articles in English. The focus on studies conducted between 2018 and 2024 and the methodological diversity of the studies further limited the ability to draw overall conclusions. Originality/value This study’s originality lies in the lack of studies explicitly linking ethical leadership and organizational resilience. Most studies implicitly suggest that ethical leadership promotes organizational resilience through isolated mediating factors. This study contributes to advancing theoretical mechanisms through which ethical leaders impact resilience and suggests practical applications in organizations that want to achieve sustainability in turbulent times.

Cybervetting practices are witnessing an exponential increase in its application across industries, however, the scholarly literature on the concept is limited. The present qualitative study seeks to synthesize the definition and concept of cybervetting in the talent acquisition landscape. There is limited holistic understanding about the cybervetting process model and its various stages followed by organizations. Further, the study seeks to identify from recruiters the kind of information extracted from the Internet and social media platforms and the consequent positive and negative cues inferred to assess the suitability of job seekers. To address these issues, a longitudinal qualitative study was undertaken, involving two waves of data collection from recruiters (HR professionals) to understand these dynamics.

Optimizing Parameter Sets for Laser-Textured Piston Rings Using Design of Experiments and Multibody Dynamics Calculations

Friction and wear reduction in internal combustion engines are crucial for improving efficiency and durability. This study investigates the effect of microtextured surfaces on friction power loss in an engine’s piston ring-cylinder system. A numerical analysis was conducted on piston rings equipped with dimple-shaped microtextures using AVL Excite Piston & Rings, modelling a hard chromium-coated piston ring and a cast iron cylinder. The goal was to determine the optimal surface texture parameters that minimize friction power loss under typical urban driving conditions with SAE 0W-30 oil. A two-step Design of Experiments (DoE) approach was employed, where the first step involved mapping the effects of texture parameters, i.e., dimple depth (A = 0.5, 1, 1.5 µm), dimple distance (B = 120, 160, 240 µm), and dimple diameter (C = 50, 60, 70 µm), to identify influential factors. The second step aimed at locating a parameter configuration with minimal friction power loss. The results demonstrated that the optimized texture parameters can significantly reduce friction power loss. The lowest friction power loss of 8.96 W was achieved with a dimple depth of 2 µm, distance of 80 µm, and diameter of 60 µm, which contributed to an 8.3% improvement over the reference surface. The model built to describe the investigated texturing approach exhibited a strong correlation with an R2 value of 0.93, and the deviation between predicted and measured values was below 1%. Future work will involve tribometer tests to experimentally validate the optimized parameters and confirm the simulation results.
