Effective and continuous glucose monitoring is critical in managing diabetes, which remains a global health challenge affecting millions. Traditional invasive glucose monitoring methods, although accurate, cause discomfort and are unsuitable for frequent measurements necessary for optimal diabetes management. To overcome these limitations, microwave-based sensors have emerged as promising alternatives, providing both invasive and non-invasive monitoring capabilities. This review critically evaluates recent advancements in microwave-based glucose sensors, emphasizing their design methodologies, sensitivity, accuracy, and clinical applicability. By leveraging unique dielectric properties of blood and tissues affected by glucose concentrations, microwave sensors enable precise and potentially pain-free glucose measurements. Despite significant progress, existing sensor technologies face challenges including limited sensitivity ranges, interference from biological tissues, and practical considerations for clinical adoption. This paper aims to guide researchers and healthcare providers by highlighting recent technological innovations, addressing current limitations, and suggesting directions for future research to advance glucose monitoring technologies towards widespread clinical use.

Traffic counts are essential for assessing road capacity to provide efficient, effective, and safe mobility. However, current methods for generating models for traffic count studies are often limited in their accuracy and applicability, which can lead to incorrect or imprecise estimates of traffic volume. This study focused on analyzing and predicting traffic conditions on Ikorodu Road in Lagos State. The analysis involved an examination of historical traffic data, specifically focusing on daily and hourly traffic volumes. The prediction involved the use of machine learning models, including decision trees, gradient boosting, and random forest classifiers. The results of this study revealed significant variations in traffic volume across different days of the week and times of the day, indicating peak and off-peak periods. The study also highlighted the need for a more comprehensive approach that includes additional factors, such as weather conditions, road work, and special events, which could significantly impact traffic volume.

The current definition of the Complex Hesitant Fuzzy Set (CHFS), derived from the Ramot form of complex numbers, cannot process information as in Tamir’s complex fuzzy form. We have data with uncertainty and extra information that cannot be described by any other structure than Tamir’s complex fuzzy form. Hence, in this article, we initiated the idea of CHFS based on Tamir’s complex fuzzy form and established its operational laws. Since Decision-Making (DM) theory is central to nearly all disciplines, we have proposed a novel complex hesitant fuzzy Multi-Criterion Decision-Making (MCDM) model. This method can handle all sorts of real-life MCDM problems, where the data contains uncertainty, hesitancy, and extra fuzzy information. While developing this method, we also develop and apply Dombi aggregation operators in this manuscript. After that, we discussed a case study that concerns energy storage system selection for AI-controlled microgrids and discussed how the theory we have developed can be applied to real-world challenges. Last, we conferred on how this proposed theory is superior to other theories and why it should be adopted.

Creating and using Key Network-Performance Indicators to support the design of change of enterprise infocommunication infrastructure

Nowadays, an increasing number of organisations have to make decisions about the change and optimization of their enterprise infocommunication infrastructure. The usual approach of performance (using QoS, SLA) is not user (enterprise) centred and complex enough to help ICT (Information and Communication Technology) experts to support management decisions. The paper proposes a strategic management inspired, user centred and complex method of creating KNPIs (Key Network-Performance Indicators) for the measurement. In the paper, a case study is introduced to illustrate the creation and the use of KNPIs: alternatives are generated for the change, and using KNPIs, the feasibility, capacity, quality and financial aspects - integrating also the business impact and the influence of user experience - of the change of the enterprise infocommunication infrastructure are examined and compared. In the case study, to the analysis and prediction of the necessary enterprise network capacities, network traffic simulation is used. Financial modelling is also applied in comparing the alternatives.

Are hungarian investors reluctant to realize their losses?

We examine whether Hungarian investors liquidate their winning investments too early and close their losing positions too late. We analyze 130 university students' trading activity for 2009 and 2010. We investigate the disposition effect by four distinct methodologies: by the realized and non-realized gains and losses; by comparing the length of the holding periods; by analyzing the whole length of open positions and by comparing the performance of the transactions. We discover that Hungarian investors exhibit a disposition effect that worsens their investment performance in general. According to our results, the investors time their sale and purchase orders inaccurately. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.

In order to cope with the complex features of ambiguity, randomness and uncertainty in multi-attribute decision-making problems, this paper introduces the DempsterShafer evidence theory in the framework of cloud modeling. First, a cloud model is used to calculate the affiliation of each evaluation metric, which was subsequently converted to a basic confidence assignment function. Second, the game theory idea is borrowed to combine the dynamic and static weights of the evidence in the game, to improve the traditional evidence theory and realize the effective integration of information. The idea of average fit is identified again, and a comprehensive evaluation conclusion is drawn by comparing the closeness of the evaluation object to the optimal and worst solutions. The new electric power system investment project is illustrated, and the applicability of the algorithm is verified.

Unveiling temporal and frequency spillovers: Climate-risk indices and energy futures markets

This study investigates the time- and frequency-domain spillover dynamics between climate-risk indices, namely the Transition Risk Index (TRI), Physical Risk Index (PRI), Global Climate Policy Uncertainty (GCPU))and major energy futures markets, including ICE Europe Brent crude oil futures (continuation), the global crude benchmark (Brent), ICE Europe Low Sulphur Gasoil futures, a European middle-distillate benchmark (Gasoil), Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Abu Dhabi Murban crude oil futures (continuation), a Middle Eastern light-sweet benchmark (Murban), Shanghai Crude, New York Harbor Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel futures (NYMEX) continuation (ULSD), and West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures (NYMEX Light Sweet Crude Oil futures continuation) (WTI). Employing a flexible econometric framework based on TVP-VAR and quantile connectedness, the analysis uncovers non-linear, asymmetric, and time-varying spillovers, with markedly stronger linkages during extreme market conditions and in the short term. Energy commodities, particularly Gasoil and WTI, emerge as significant net transmitters of transition risks, amplifying volatility during periods of stress, while long-term spillovers remain relatively weak, reflecting gradual decarbonization trends. The unique contribution of this paper lies in extending the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT) by integrating climate risks as dynamic, state-dependent, and non-diversifiable factors, thereby demonstrating how energy asset sensitivities fluctuate across regimes and quantiles. This approach advances the asset pricing and climate finance literature beyond static models by embedding dynamic connectedness into risk transmission analysis. The findings highlight the systemic nature of climate risks and underscore the importance of adaptive financial regulation, forward-looking climate policy, and flexible risk management practices to mitigate volatility and support the global energy transition. These insights provide actionable guidance for policymakers, regulators, and investors navigating the evolving interplay between climate risks and energy markets.

The concept of resilience has been utilized to examine more complex ecological and socioeconomic systems such as agri-food systems in developing countries. Gaza has one of the high unemployment rates globally, therefore keeping people imprisoned in poverty and dependent on external support to existing. The strategy for poverty reduction in Gaza primarily consists of giving food aid or multi-purpose cash-based assistance and livelihood projects; nevertheless, this does not reduce unemployment or poverty in the long term. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have increased their efforts to provide more effective and comprehensive interventions to the affected populations, especially in the Gaza Strip. The research implemented a quantitative methodology distributed to over 300 household benefited from food aid and livelihood interventions through the NGOs in Gaza Strip. The questionnaire had been constructed based on the Likert Scale ranging from 1 (Strongly Agree) to 5 (Strongly Disagree). The data had been treated using SPSS statistical tool and AMOS for structural equation modeling and analysis to study the mediating effect of food aid and livelihood interventions on the relationship between household resilience and economic empowerment in the Gaza Strip. The research found that the resilience ability of many families in the Gaza Strip has increased because of the humanitarian assistance provided by NGOs, which lead to reducing poverty and household resilience plays a vital role in minimizing poverty and alleviating suffering through empowering and engaging them in the economy. The research also found that food aid tends to critically impact the relationship between household resilience and economic empowerment. NGOs play an essential role in engaging the poor in the economy through providing food security and encouraging new investments and efforts to improve help effectiveness via greater coordination among players involved in the implementation and better planning, targeting, and providing aid to people in Gaza Strip. The research findings also showed that livelihood interventions mediate the relationship between household resilience and economic empowerment in Gaza Strip. The structural model supports that the livelihood interventions modulated the association between household resilience and economic empowerment.
