Exploring the Spatial Distribution and Location Choice of Companies in a Hungarian Agglomeration

Publication Name: Studia Regionalne I Lokalne

Publication Date: 2024-01-01

Volume: 2024

Issue: 2

Page Range: 7-20

Description:

Globalisation has led to the dominance and geographical expansion of urban areas. Companies consider a com-plex set of criteria when deciding on their locations, including the agglomeration area and the presence of similar companies or related businesses. This study examines the spatial distribution and industrial clustering of companies within the agglomeration of Győr, Hungary’s sixth-largest city. The sample comprises 256 companies across 68 settlements, with data processed through map, quadrat and industry analysis. The analyses identified six settlements within the agglomeration where nearly half of the companies are located, five factors that seem to facilitate company location, and five main industrial sectors, four of which are closely related. The article concludes that the agglomeration area of Győr is characterised by a high degree of spatial concentration of companies, industrial clustering and the emergence of industry sub-centres.

Investigation of the spatial concentration of companies in the agglomeration settlements of Győr, 2022

Publication Name: Teruleti Statisztika

Publication Date: 2024-01-01

Volume: 64

Issue: 4

Page Range: 515-540

Description:

When making installation decisions, companies take into account a complex system of criteria, which includes the agglomeration area, as well as the presence of companies performing the same or similar activities. The purpose of this research is to examine the spatial distribution of companies established in the agglomeration settlements of Győr. In the course of the analysis, map tests were carried out and a quadratic analysis was prepared. The results of the research show that there is a high degree of spatial concentration of companies in the Győr agglomeration area, and territorial densification can also be seen based on settlement-level indicators.

Green Marketing in the Digital Age: A Systematic Literature Review

Publication Name: Sustainability Switzerland

Publication Date: 2023-08-01

Volume: 15

Issue: 16

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

This research aims to analyze and synthesize the research articles published over the past ten years, from 2012 to 2022, that deal with green marketing and digital marketing. The objective is to track the evolution of research in the field and to understand the trends on which the area has been researched during that period. The paper is based on a database of 54 research articles published in the specified period. This paper is not limited to specific journals; only the topics and the period are specified. The database analysis describes the topic and perspective of the article, the methodology used, and the themes, in addition to other factors of the given research. The main finding of this research is the identification of five main themes or categories within the research area: strategies, challenges, promotion, consumers, and digital media. These themes provide valuable insights for practitioners and scholars and ultimately benefit the broader community by providing information on decision-making and promoting sustainability in digital marketing and green marketing. This paper will help researchers better understand the research trends in the field and acquire some up-to-date knowledge about the research related to digital marketing and green marketing.

Housing price trends as a function of distance from Győr as a centre

Publication Name: Teruleti Statisztika

Publication Date: 2023-01-01

Volume: 63

Issue: 5

Page Range: 557-574

Description:

Examining the impact of spatial parameters is a central factor in research related to the analysis of housing prices, mostly involving data at the municipal level or higher. The present study builds on a less common approach, focusing on the analysis of the impact of a spatial parameter, distance from the centre, on property prices, furthermore, the empirical research uses aggregated municipal- level data based on the level of individual dwellings. On the one hand, the study aims to review and systematise the determinants of property prices, with a more detailed focus on previous studies of the impact of distance from the centre, and on the other hand, within the framework of empirical research, to examine the impact of distance from Győr as a centre on the supply price of detached houses.

A Sustainable Model of Corporate Embeddedness: Navigating through a Fuzzy Concept

Publication Name: Chemical Engineering Transactions

Publication Date: 2023-01-01

Volume: 107

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 163-168

Description:

Corporate embeddedness and sustainable corporate behaviour are closely linked. Consequently, recent literature has introduced the term sustainability embeddedness. However, the concept is still at an early stage, and both its conceptualisation and practical implications remain incomplete. From the literature review, it can be determined that the term sustainability embeddedness can be classified as one of the so-called fuzzy concepts because its use in different literatures is associated with different meanings. The main goal of the study is to review the previous interpretations and to contribute to the literature on the concept with a specific explanation, placing it in the set of previous definitions. A further aim of the research is to identify the best sustainable practices of corporate embeddedness using the quintuple helix model. The goal is to demonstrate how sustainability practices can enhance mutually beneficial relationships between companies and other actors within the local space. The study serves as a literature basis for later research, in which, as a continuation of the collection of practices, small and medium-sized family businesses in Győr, Hungary, will be examined. Along the theoretical model of the study, practical implications can be identified as they may serve as an incentive practice for regional small businesses, which helps to deepen their degree of embeddedness, thus exploiting additional local benefits for the local space.

TIME-SPACE ASYMMETRY VERSUS TIME-SPACE SYMMETRY

Publication Name: Theoretical and Empirical Researches in Urban Management

Publication Date: 2022-11-01

Volume: 17

Issue: 4

Page Range: 68-81

Description:

The interpretation and the analysis of physical spaces is generated from the symmetry axiom which is valid in geographical spaces but might not be valid in other forms of spaces, the so called non-geographical ones. In the case of such spaces which can be expressed by time, network and cost, the opposite of symmetry can be found: distance asymmetry which means that the distance from one object to another and back are not equal. This research is motivated by the fact that while distance symmetry has been widely studied distance asymmetry has been not investigated in suburban areas of Győr. The purpose of the study is to give a typology of the sources of distance asymmetry, especially with regard to time-spaces, to demonstrate some real life practices and finally, to present.

Services of economic development organisations in GyŐr

Publication Name: Deturope

Publication Date: 2017-01-01

Volume: 9

Issue: 3

Page Range: 85-100

Description:

Economic development of a municipality is highly depended on organizations and institutions, which services target local entrepreneurs and other economic actors. In the summer of 2015 we have collected and mapped the services of organizations with the function of economic development in the Hungarian city, Gyor. Through our research we could identify the services and the characteristics of linkages and cooperation of the economic development organizations (EDOs). Most important findings of the study are the followings: activity of the organizations has a wide range. Some of them are presented in more organizations at the same time. Level of diversification is quite low. Directions of cooperation are mainly based on personal or ad hoc relations. We conducted that EDOs know about each other, despite of this fact the number of linkages is low. In this paper we provide findings about Gyor, but the results can be used for other settlements' economic development, too.

The 'Model of Gyor': Triple Helix interactions and their impact on economic development

Publication Name: Proceedings of the European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecie

Publication Date: 2015-01-01

Volume: 2015-January

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 787-795

Description:

The authors will introduce Gyor as a significant member and centre both of this region and the Central European automotive industrial concentration. The study gives an overview of the emergence of the special Triple Helix Model in the analysed Hungarian town. Based on the results of the research programme 'Gyor Regional Vehicle Industrial District as a New Direction and Investment of Regional Development' (TÁMOP-4.2.2.A-11/1/KONV-2012-0010) completed in 2014, the authors will present the "Model of Gyor". The paper outlines the most significant theoretical and empirical results of the research which serves further development prospects, paths and examples to other Hungarian towns or to towns with similar industrial background around the world. The model represents the urban network structure as a 'living system' of Gyor that includes the university, the automotive industry and related innovative companies like Audi and the town (local government) as a coordinating factor.
