The study provides an identification and analysis of potential enablers that facilitate transition towards net zero in the energy sector through Multi Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) framework. The identified enablers and causal relationships between them in terms of decarbonization initiatives are studied using the DEMATEL method and combining trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (TFNs). The research design involves an overarching review of thirteen potential enablers to net zero transition within the energy sector, in order of their impact and causality. Top-ranked enablers that would have the greatest impact in achieving the energy transition were carbon pricing mechanisms, waste-to-energy conversion, decentralized energy systems and circular procurement policies. The research indicates that the enablers show causal pathways that are interconnected and can take place as both causes and effects in the decarbonization framework. Application of DEMATEL method using TFNs increases the strength of causal relationship derivation. The study adds to the literature on enabling net zero transition in energy and highlights the importance of a conceptual approach involving a combination of policy, technology and principles of the circular economy. Such lessons can guide policy makers, industry players and academics in planning and speeding up the process to sustainable energy systems and world climate targets.

This study is motivated by the need to understand complex thermal and hydrodynamic behaviors of couple stress fluids, which commonly occur in lubrication systems, microfluidic devices, and polymeric material processing. Its significance lies in modeling non-isothermal couple stress fluid flow through an inclined Poiseuille channel bounded by two heated parallel plates, a configuration relevant to advanced heat and mass transfer applications. The aim is to determine the velocity profile, temperature distribution, volumetric flow rate, average velocity, and shear stress for the incompressible fluid. To achieve this, the highly nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations governing the system are solved using the Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method and the Homotopy Perturbation Method, which provide accurate approximate solutions without linearization. The major findings show excellent agreement between the two approaches, confirming their validity, while parametric studies reveal how physical factors such as couple stress effects, plate inclination, and thermal gradients influence the flow. The specific applications of this work include lubrication processes, thermal energy devices, and fluid transport systems requiring precise control of flow and heat transfer.

3D printed metal-insulator layered structure

Additively manufactured metal–insulator layered structures are facing a contradictory demand. Laser sources with different wavelength are required to melt the two materials. In the present study we attempt to additively manufacture metal–insulator composite using a fiber laser. Three different procedures are presented. Firstly, production of a core–shell soft magnetic composite by laser-powder bed fusion technology from a unique amorphous alloy. Lastly the preparation of Fe-Si and Fe-TiN layered structure is discussed. Further improvement of Fe-TiN can be achieved by oxidation heat-treatment. Microstructure, porosity and complex permeability spectra were studied.

The current examination explores the magnetohydrodynamic flow and transport behavior of a Casson-based blood-derived hexa-hybrid nanofluid via a vertically oriented, mildly stenotic artery using a fractional-order framework. The hexa-hybrid nanofluid is formulated by dispersing Au, Cu, ZnO, Ag, MgO and TiO2 nanoparticles into blood, and the flow is considered highly pulsatile. Mathematical modelling is developed from the conservation laws of mass, momentum, and energy, followed by nondimensionalization under the mild-stenosis approximation. To extend the classical model to its fractional form, the Caputo–Fabrizio fractional derivative is incorporated, enabling closed-form analytical expressions for velocity and temperature through combined Laplace and Hankel transforms. The graphical results highlight the influence of key physical factors on velocity, temperature, and entropy production. The inclusion of hexa-hybrid nanoparticles notably enhances the thermal characteristics of blood due to the substantial rise in effective thermal conductivity. The velocity increases with higher Casson parameter values, whereas temperature decreases as the fractional-order parameter intensifies. Furthermore, entropy generation is found to rise with increasing thermodynamic parameters, while the Bejan number correspondingly decreases, reflecting dominant irreversibility effects within the system.

Our earlier publications have been focused on detailed explanation of the effects of the applied AP-CITROX chemical decontamination technology on the corrosion state and surface morphology of heat exchanger tubes of steam generators (SG). These studies have revealed that the industrial application of the decontamination technology results in the inhomogeneous dissolution of stainless steel surface, leading to the formation of oxide layer with undesired chemical composition and structure which exhibits potentially greater mobility in the primary coolant. Laboratory examinations have provided an independent verification of the formation of the so called "hybrid" structure. The first part of our three-part series has presented some selected findings on the corrosion and surface chemical effects of the AP-CITROX technology as well as the fundamental issues of the technology development. Present paper deals with the efficiency (mass transport and decontamination characteristics) of the novel chemical decontamination technologies elaborated for the treatment of the inner surface of SGs and regenerative heat exchangers of the water purification system No. 1. The third part of our series is scheduled to highlight some results obtained by laboratorial analysis of the effects of the two novel technologies on the corrosion state as well as on the structure and composition of surface oxide layer. Determining the radioactivity of specified nuclides in the solutions used for decontamination, important conclusions on the efficiency of the main technological steps as well as on the distribution of radionuclides in the depth of treated surface can be drawn.

The legal framework for social conditionality within the European Union entered into force on 1 January 2025. Under these provisions, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) will undergo significant changes and could have important consequences if farmers and other beneficiaries are to receive direct payments or annual payments if certain standards are breached. In light of this, we have undertaken an analysis of the current state of employment practices within the agricultural sector, with the aim of providing a snapshot of the extent to which employers may need to adapt their workplace practices in the near future in order to avoid jeopardizing their eligibility for financial support.

Background: The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2023 estimates health loss from migraine, tension-type headache, and medication-overuse headache. This study presents updated results on headache-attributed burden from 1990 to 2023, along with clinical and public health implications. Methods: Data on the prevalence, incidence, or remission of migraine, tension-type headache, and medication-overuse headache were extracted from published population-based studies. We used hierarchical Bayesian meta-regression modelling to estimate global, regional, and country-level prevalence of headache disorders. For the first time in GBD 2023, age-specific and sex-specific estimates of time in symptomatic state were applied by meta-analysing individual participant data from 41 653 individuals from the general populations of 18 countries from all parts of the world. Disability weights were applied to calculate years lived with disability (YLDs). Since medication-overuse headache is a sequela of a mistreated primary headache (due to medication overuse), its burden was reattributed to migraine or tension-type headache, informed by a meta-analysis of three longitudinal studies. Findings: In 2023, 2·9 billion individuals (95% uncertainty interval 2·6–3·1) were affected by headache disorders, with a global age-standardised prevalence of 34·6% (31·6–37·5) and a YLD rate of 541·9 (373·4–739·9) per 100 000 population, with 487·5 (323·0–678·8) per 100 000 population attributed to migraine. The prevalence rates of these headache disorders have remained stable over the past three decades. YLD rates due to headache disorders were more than twice as high in females (739·9 [511·2–1011·5] per 100 000) as in males (346·1 [240·4–481·8] per 100 000). Medication-overuse headache contributed 58·9% of the YLD estimates for tension-type headache in males and 56·1% in females, as well as 22·6% of the YLD estimates for migraines in males and 14·1% in females. Interpretation: Headache disorders, in particular migraine, continue to be a major global health challenge, emphasising the need for effective management and prevention strategies. Much headache-attributed burden could be averted or eliminated by avoiding overuse of medication (including over-the-counter medication), underscoring the importance of public education. Shear debonding at concrete repair interfaces: An integrated experimental and numerical study

Durable repair of concrete structures relies critically on the shear bond between new and existing concrete, yet reliable prediction of this bond remains challenging due to highly localized interfacial damage mechanisms. Conventional numerical interaction strategies, such as tie constraints, are unable to capture progressive debonding, often leading to unconservative estimates of load transfer and structural capacity. This study presents a three-dimensional Finite Element approach that explicitly represents the repair interface through thin sacrificial layers governed by Concrete Damaged Plasticity and element deletion. The approach is validated against a dedicated shear push-out experimental campaign in which the cement content of the repair layer was systematically varied from 300 to 550 kg/m³ while all other parameters are held constant. The numerical model accurately reproduces the experimentally observed zipper-type interfacial debonding and captures both the onset and propagation of localized shear damage, with satisfactory quantitative agreement. Building on this validation, continuous calibration curves are derived with high statistical correlation (R2 ≈ 0.95) and low predictive error (NRMSE < 9%), directly relating repair cement content to shear bond strength and interface compressive strength. Specifically, the framework captures the nonlinear increase in shear bond strength from 0.21 to 1.85 MPa. The proposed method provides a physically grounded and design-oriented bridge between mix proportioning and structural simulation, enabling consistent definition of interface parameters without iterative numerical tuning.
