New Insights Optimize Landing Strategies to Reduce Lower Limb Injury Risk

Single-leg landing (SL) is often associated with a high injury risk, especially anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and lateral ankle sprain. This work investigates the relationship between ankle motion patterns (ankle initial contact angle [AICA] and ankle range of motion [AROM]) and the lower limb injury risk during SL, and proposes an optimized landing strategy that can reduce the injury risk. To more realistically revert and simulate the ACL injury mechanics, we developed a knee musculoskeletal model that reverts the ACL ligament to a nonlinear short-term viscoelastic mechanical mechanism (strain ratedependent) generated by the dense connective tissue as a function of strain. Sixty healthy male subjects were recruited to collect biomechanics data during SL. The correlation analysis was conducted to explore the relationship between AICA, AROM, and peak vertical ground reaction force (PVGRF), joint total energy dissipation (TED), peak ankle knee hip sagittal moment, peak ankle inversion angle (PAIA), and peak ACL force (PAF). AICA exhibits a negative correlation with PVGRF (r = -0.591) and PAF (r = -0.554), and a positive correlation with TED (r = 0.490) and PAIA (r = 0.502). AROM exhibits a positive correlation with TED (r = 0.687) and PAIA (r = 0.600). The results suggested that the appropriate increases in AICA (30° to 40°) and AROM (50° to 70°) may reduce the lower limb injury risk. This study has the potential to offer novel perspectives on the optimized application of landing strategies, thus giving the crucial theoretical basis for decreasing injury risk.

Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) salebrosa sp. nov. was collected in Malaysia, Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) bakerae sp. nov. was found in Sarawak (Malaysia), Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) microseta sp. nov. is described from Guyana and Rotundabaloghia (Circobaloghia) peritremata sp. nov. was reported from Borneo (Indonesia).

This study examines the impact of ordering elements on sexual harassment in educational environments and assesses legislative measures aimed at improving the safety of female students in schools and universities. The combination of the ordinal priority approach with fuzzy information and intuitionistic fuzzy MARCOS within a decision framework facilitates the identification of numerous critical components. Initially, we employ an ordinal priority method on fuzzy data to determine the weights of the attributes. Subsequently, we employ the intuitionistic fuzzy MARCOS methodology to assess the prioritised aspects. The formulation of triangular fuzzy numbers for analytical objectives enhances decision-making. This study employs Dombi aggregation operations to comprehensively assess the influence of these factors on school sexual harassment. This research presents a systematic, data-informed approach to assist legislators in developing successful strategies for mitigating sexual harassment and improving safety in educational settings.

The paper is concerned with analyzing and comparing two exact algorithms from the viewpoint of computational complexity. They are: composite justification and the D-algorithm. Both serve for calculating fault-detection tests of digital circuits. As a result, it is pointed out that the composite justification requires significantly less computational step than the D-algorithm. From this fact it has been conjectured that possibly no other algorithm is available in this field with fewer computational steps. If the claim holds, then it follows directly that the test-generation problem is of exponential time, and so are all the other NP-complete problems in the field of computation theory. © 2011 IEEE.

How Could the Government Support the Spread of Alternative Energy Projects?

The study examines the changes in the simple investment payback period of three alternative energy projects like a solar PV (photovoltaic), a wood chip-fired boiler and a heat pump system in the face of changing energy prices, interest rates, investment cost and inflation. The purpose of this paper is not to compare the three projects, but to show how the returns of alternative energy projects have changed as a result of the effects apparent in Hungary. Considering the fact, that it is based on real-life projects and an energy-conscious calculation, the article focuses on practical feasibility in order to ensure adaptability. The central focus of this study is to demonstrate how the return can change dramatically over a 3–4-year time horizon from the perspective of investors, thus highlighting the economic rationality of postponement decisions. The government can lower risk by supporting renewable energy projects with financial incentives, running suitable financial systems, and providing resources for them, according to this study. Predetermined feed-in tariffs, green pricing for "green electricity," capital subsidies, grants, or refunds, low-interest loans, or carbon credits are a few examples of financial incentives. Enhancing investor confidence and legally protecting stakeholders' interests and returns are critical expectations. In conclusion, by guaranteeing investors long-term profits, the government plays a critical role in the growth of alternative energy initiatives.

Complex Framework for Condition Assessment of Residential Buildings

In the big cities of Europe large-scale construction of apartment buildings took place at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century. In the process, buildings were created based on unique plans, but very similar to each other, containing similar technological solutions and built from similar building materials. Over the past 100 years, some of the buildings have been continuously maintained, while the condition of other buildings has deteriorated significantly. The renovation of these buildings has now become necessary and in many cases, unavoidable. In the current economic and energy situation, it is important that maintenance or conversion is carried out in a sustainable manner to the necessary extent. The method and extent of the interventions can be provided in a uniform manner with help of a computer system. We have developed a condition assessment and decision support model and algorithm that can be used for this purpose. We call it Complex Building’s Decision Support System based on Fuzzy Signatures (CBDF system). We use fuzzy signature-based model to handle uncertainties, inaccuracies and possibly missing data that occur during the condition assessment. The presented decision model prepares the status assessment based on 4 main components (project info, knowledge base, preparatory work process, fuzzy system). After defining the objectives (e.g., general condition assessment, evaluation from the perspective of accident prevention, examination of the possibility of roof installation), the system requests the necessary data and generates the fuzzy signature required for the condition assessment of the given building. Based on the input data for the specific project and the knowledge base, the decision model searches for failures and anomalies in the building based on the preparatory work process, manages the existing uncertainties and inaccuracies, and determines the load bearing surplus of the examined load bearing structures. Using the existing information and conclusions, based on various fuzzy set-based descriptors and aggregation operators, the condition assessment is prepared, and then, if necessary, the intervention proposal as well. The final goal of the decision model is to put a tool in the hands of experts examining the condition of buildings, which can be used to prepare uniform and objective assessments (also suitable for ranking) and to reduce error in condition assessment.

Enhancement of Discrete Bacterial Memetic Evolutionary Algorithm for Solving the Travelling Repairman Problem

The Traveling Repairman Problem (TRP) is concerned with repairing a set of locations rather than visiting them. In this paper, we propose an enhanced version of the Discrete Bacterial Memetic Evolutionary Algorithm (DBMEA) to solve TRP. DBMEA is combining with a new method for generating the initial individual candidate solution which is called Circle Group Heuristic (CGH). CGH is constructed with the help of Genetic Algorithm (GA). The enhanced version of DBMEA with CGH has been tested for several benchmark reference data of TRP. The results show that the enhanced version has a faster and better solutions for most cases in comparison to state-of-the-art heuristics mentioned in the literature. Furthermore, for larger benchmark instances, it provided better solutions than the previously best-known results. These test results support the claim that the DBMEA with CGH is the most effective approach and recommend its use for the Traveling Repairman Problem, particularly for large instances.

Curvature-Constrained Motion Planning and Control for Traffic Cone Manipulation Robot

This paper presents an integrated system for traffic cone manipulation using a heavy-duty mobile robot equipped with GNSS-RTK localization, a custom remote supervision and mission control interface, and a curvature-constrained motion controller. Designed for use in semi-structured outdoor environments, the robot receives waypoint and speed commands via a tailored extension of Foxglove Studio, which enables intuitive map-based interaction and real-time trajectory editing. Owning to its high payload capacity, the platform prioritizes stability over maneuverability, thus, it cannot change orientation without longitudinal movement. To address this, we propose a smooth, curvature-based controller that enforces a minimum turning radius while following pose and heading goals. The system architecture is built on Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2), leveraging modular nodes for map visualization, path planning, motion execution, and action triggering. Our experiments demonstrate the system’s ability to navigate complex waypoint paths and pause precisely at mission-dictated locations, more specifically cone placement locations. Our results show that even under turning constraints, the robot reliably executes full cone manipulation routines with high spatial accuracy and operational safety. The system highlights the feasibility of pairing high-level operator interfaces with low-level kinematic-aware planning for constrained robotic platforms.

The present article aims at describing the lively relationship and the cooperation between Hungary and Egypt from 1974 to 1990. The two nations had similar political systems ruling them, and their development and expansion during this era has shown significant similarities. For explaining the important changes that occurred almost at the same time with the economic and military elite of these countries, not only secondary, but primary, archival sources were used as well. The legacy of the late relative of Mr Horváth Ede, one of the most important great Hungarian businessmen of that era provided interesting reminiscence of the theme written about. Using mostly qualitative (and some quantitative) methods, the goal of the article thus was to revive for the reader the commercial life between the two countries in the given era. This way, reaching the end of the 90s in both countries, the similarities and common interests of the two states can be presented. By providing these data, the authors want to show how similarly the late socialist events and transformations took place in the two countries.
