What drives small retailers to adopt an integrated marketing communications approach?

Publication Name: Proceedings Icsssm 07 2007 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management

Publication Date: 2007-12-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

This study has sought to explain the determinants of what leads certain retailers and not others to adopt an integrated marketing communications (IMC) approach. A sample of 512 retailers in Australian capital cities were used to explore this question. Logit regression analysis has been used to identify the key determinants. The conclusion is that the size of the retail promotion budget and whether or not the retailer is part of a chain organisation are the two critical factors in explaining the adoption of an IMC approach. Both of these factors were positive and highly significant. Other factors had a very minor role to play in explaining the adoption of IMC. The paper concludes by suggesting two key managerial implications for both the large and small retailers in relation to optimising their promotion budget. © 2007 IEEE.

Joint experiments on small tokamaks: Edge plasma studies on CASTOR

Publication Name: Nuclear Fusion

Publication Date: 2007-12-01

Volume: 47

Issue: 5

Page Range: 378-386

Description:

The 1st Joint (Host Laboratory) Experiment on 'joint research using small tokamaks' was carried out using the IPP Prague experimental facility 'CASTOR tokamak'. The main experimental programme was aimed at characterizing the edge plasma in a tokamak by using different advanced diagnostic techniques. It is widely recognized that characterization of phenomena occurring at the plasma edge is essential for understanding the plasma confinement in a tokamak. The edge plasma in small and large scale experiments has many similar features, and the results obtained through detailed measurements in a small flexible device such as CASTOR are in many aspects still relevant to those in large tokamaks. Therefore, it is expected that the results of this joint experiment will have general validity. The radial and poloidal structure of electrostatic turbulence was characterized. The effects of edge biasing were analysed. Radiation fluctuations and profile measurements were performed using fast bolometry. Plasma position measurements were performed using novel Hall sensors. © 2007 IAEA, Vienna.

Definitions and measurement of power factor

Publication Name: 8th International Symposium of Hungarian Researchers on Computational Intelligence and Informatics Cinti 2007

Publication Date: 2007-12-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 623-632

Description:

The methodology of measurement of cos was developed long time ago, but it is usable only for sinusoidal voltages and currents. Nowadays the customer loads use power supplies built with semiconductors, switching power supplies, power controlling systems, etc. These loads cause non-sinusoidal current in power lines, energy quality and EMC problems. The method of Power Factor measurement is described in this article, which is a good KPI in these cases.

Do we have to take into account the human mistakes during traffic simulation?

Publication Name: Ines 2007 11th International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems Proceedings

Publication Date: 2007-12-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 45-49

Description:

This paper deals with an actual question of traffic modeling: the human mistakes are implicable and is it needed to involve them into a traffic model or not? The first part of the paper gives a short survey of the role of traffic simulation. The second part of the paper contains our approach and represents the first step of our method aimed at the development of a driver model applicable in the widely used simulation systems to describe practical traffic situations. ©2007 IEEE.

Near Field Communication technology: Contactless applications in mobile environment

No authors available

Publication Name: 8th International Symposium of Hungarian Researchers on Computational Intelligence and Informatics, CINTI 2007

Publication Date: 2007-12-01

Volume:

Issue:

Page Range: 175-188

Description:

StoLPaN, a pan-European consortium of companies, universities and user groups co-funded by the European Commission (EU), Information Society Technologies (IST) Programme aims to define open commercial and technical frameworks for the remote management of NFC-enabled (NFC: Near Field Communication) services on mobile devices. These frameworks will facilitate the deployment of NFC-enabled mobile applications across a wide range of vertical markets, regardless of the phone type and the nature of the services required. This paper introduces the application opportunities of the NFC technology, the business aspects of the NFC based service development and the technical infrastructure implementing the core of the NFC-enabled services.

Determination of DC micro-motor characteristics by electrical measurements

Publication Name: Recent Advances in Mechatronics

Publication Date: 2007-12-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 278-282

Description:

It is generally difficult to carry out and measure breaking moments precisely in the mNm range. Instead of traditional methods using brake and additional mechanical elements to determine torque vs. angular velocity characteristics of micro-motors this paper suggest a new procedure based on purely electrical measurements. Theoretical background of the measuring procedure is discussed detailed. The suggested method is shown in the case of a RF300E DC micro-motor. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Grooming-enhanced multicast in multilayer networks with bacterial evolutionary algorithm

No authors available

Publication Name: 8th International Symposium of Hungarian Researchers on Computational Intelligence and Informatics, CINTI 2007

Publication Date: 2007-12-01

Volume:

Issue:

Page Range: 211-225

Description:

In this paper we introduce new, bacterial evolutionary algorithm (BEA) based methods for routing unicast and multicast demands in grooming capable multi-layer optical wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks. The methods introduced are compared with both well known heuristic methods, accumulative shortest path heuristic (ASP) and minimum path heuristic (MPH), and as well as with ILP. We prove the strength of our approach by comprehensive simulations in our versatile simulator.
