Intelligent predictive neural network analysis of stefan blowing impacts on chemical reactive flow of Boger nanofluid with thermophoresis and brownian motion

This study scrutinizes the effect of thermal radiation and Stefan blowing on the chemical reactive flow of Boger nanofluid across a stretched sheet with Darcy Forchheimer medium and heat generation using an intelligent computational framework based on Artifice neural network—Bayesian regularization. Furthermore, Brownian motion and thermophoresis properties have been examined. The suggested model of how Stefan blowing affects the chemical reactive flow of a Boger nanofluid with thermophoresis effects and Brownian motion has useful applications in a number of industrial and engineering operations. In chemical reactors, nano-coating technologies, and polymer processing, this model is essential for improving heat and mass transport processes. While the Boger nanofluid model accurately depicts non-Newtonian behaviour pertinent to biofluids and complex lubricants, Stefan blowing consideration offers insights on evaporation or suction effects. For the purpose of maximizing nanoparticle dispersion in cooling systems, fuel cells, and medicinal devices like targeted drug delivery systems where exact control over particle motion and chemical reactivity is crucial, Brownian motion and thermophoresis are also critical. The velocity profile improves as the Stefan blowing parameter values rise, but the thermal and concentration profiles decrease.

Morphological examination of young adults related to obesity

This study presents a cross-board comparison of the morphological characteristic of students of the Hungarian Language teacher training faculty in Subotica, Serbia based on their nutritional status estimate of their nourishment state. The sample was composed by 146 young adults from all four study years of the faculty, ranging from age 19 to 23. The following anthropometric measurements were carried out: body weight, height, skin fold thickness (skin folds measured at the scapula, triceps, biceps, ilium, hip, thigh and abdomen) and circumferences (waist, hip). The authors calculated and analyzed the data, including: the BMI (body mass index) with the formula, skin fold thickness and with 4-Site Skin fold Equation and waist hip ratio. Descriptive statistic was used to describe the morphological characteristics. Independent T-test and ANOVA analysis was performed to compare the students according to sex and age. The main results of the present study are: (1) no significant difference is found between the age groups in the case of either height or body weight, not for the young men or the young women in the study; (2) the differences between height and weight in the case of the male and female as characteristic for this age group can be observed; (3) the female students are more often found to be overweight or obese than the male students; (4) the majority of participant students can be classified into the normal nutritional status’ category, which holds true for both the young men and women of the study; (5) the fat percentages calculated based on skin fold values show that in terms of weight, the majority of the female students fall under the ‘acceptable’ category, while the majority of the young men are classed as ‘thin’; (6) in the case of abdominal overweight 20.0 % of men and 19.48 % of women belong to the category ‘obese’. This information about the students of the teacher training program is vital, as these young men and women will play an important role as future teachers and thereby, as role models helping to prevent childhood obesity and guiding children throughout their education towards a healthy life style.

This paper presents the implementation of a novel extended PMSM model in the Simscape acausal modeling subsystem of the widely used Mathworks MATLAB-Simulink numerical simulation environment. The extended PMSM model is based on a quadratic flux-current function that describes the machine's rotor position-dependent and polarity-dependent properties and facilitates the development of signal injection-based sensorless polarity detection algorithms. The implemented PMSM model was validated using simulations and measurements. The presented simulation results include modulated sinusoidal injection and non-modulated square-wave injection which are commonly used carrier signals in sensorless algorithms, and the simulation results were compared to corresponding measurements. A comparison of the acausal modeling approach in Simscape to the causal approach of Simulink is also presented. The implemented PMSM model is open source. The source code and the related data are available on GitHub.

The effects of extraction conditions on the antioxidant activities, total polyphenol and monomer anthocyanin contents of six edible fruits growing wild in Hungary

Although wild fruits are significantly underutilized in most countries, they could be good sources of valuable bioactive compounds with antioxidant properties. Therefore the present study focused on the study of a conventional extraction technique (maceration with shaking; MACS) to extract natural antioxidants and anthocyanin colorants from six edible wild-growing fruits (European crab apple, bilberry, yellow-, red-, and purple-skinned greengage, and quince). One-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) methodology was chosen to investigate the influences of three different parameters (solvent type, extraction time and solvent acidity) on the total polyphenol contents (TPCs), total monomeric anthocyanin (TMA) contents, and antioxidant capacities, specifically ferric reducing power (FRAP) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical-scavenging activity (DPPH). After optimization, the recorded TPCs and antioxidant activities proved to be significantly higher for all analyzed fruits when compared to differing extraction conditions. For European crab apple and purple-skinned greengage, the best extraction conditions were a ratio of 80:20 (v/v) EtOH–H2O, 1% (v/v) of HCOOH, and an extraction time of 90 min. In the case of red-skinned greengage, the extraction parameters were the same as the above except for the acid concentration (0.5%; v/v) used. For quince, the optimized conditions required a 50:50 (v/v) EtOH–H2O mixture, an extraction time of 90 min, and 0.5% (v/v) HCOOH concentration. The best conditions for the extraction of bilberry and yellow-skinned greengage were an EtOH–H2O combination of 50:50 (v/v), extraction time of 60 min, and HCOOH concentration of 0.5% (v/v). The highest TPC and antioxidant activity were observed in quince (281–510 mg GAE/100g and 109–395 mg AAE/100g) whereas the lowest were measured in European crab apple (55.9–70.0 mg GAE/100g and 20.1–43.2 mg AAE/100g). Bilberry exhibited the highest TMA content (346 mg CGE/100g). Overall, our results showed that these wild fruits could be a good source of natural antioxidants for the local residents.

Occurrences of Nanocyperion species in West Hungary - Role of moist plough-lands in conservation

In the last decades in Hungary biotopes of Nanocyperion species have been reduced significantly according to the melioration and the declining of pasturing. Owing to the habitat loss more species such as the examined Lindernia procumbens, Eleocharis ovata, Centunculus minimus, Limosella aquatica, Juncus sphaerocarpus and Elatine triandra became endangered all over the country. During the researches site requirements of these species were analysed as well as their connection with the cultivated species and the soil cultivation carried out on the plough-lands. According to our experiences in West Hungary actual occurrences of Lindernia procumbens, Centunculus minimus, Juncus sphaerocarpus and Elatine triandra are related strongly to the plough-lands. Eleocharis ovata and Limosella aquatica occur on plough-lands less frequently, exist mainly on other pioneer moist habitats. It can be established in case of all the 6 examined species that their habitat spectrum has extended by the increasing in the territory of ploughs forming spacious convenient biotopes for these species. © Eugen Ulmer KG.

In the inner areas of large cities, many residential buildings built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries remain standing. The maintenance and renovation of these buildings have emerged as critical priorities over recent decades. E.g., in Budapest during the socialist era, the majority of these buildings were not renovated, and maintenance was largely neglected. In the subsequent 10–15 years following the end of socialism, financial resources for renovations were scarce due to the extensive transfer of properties from state to private ownership. It is only in the last decade or so that renovations have begun to be systematically addressed. Consequently, a significant portion of the building stock is still pending renovation. Given the current economic conditions, sustainable maintenance and necessary conversion are of paramount importance. Unfortunately, few standardized condition assessment methods are implemented in industrial practice, and the literature on this topic is limited. To address these challenges, we have developed an algorithm and model for condition assessment and decision support, which we refer to as the Complex Building’s Decision Support System based on Fuzzy Signatures (CBDF system). Our model employs a fuzzy signature-based approach to account for uncertainties, errors, and potentially missing data that may arise during the assessment process. The primary aim of this model is to equip professionals involved in building condition assessment with a tool that enables them to make consistent and objective decisions while minimizing errors. This paper provides a brief overview of the CBDF system and presents test results from the assessment of a selected structural component of a building, demonstrating the system’s functionality.

Transforming Public Services Management: a P-Graph Methodology Case Study and Scenario Analysis

This study advances university enrolment optimization in Public Services Management towards sustainability, utilizing case studies, scenario analyses, and P-Graph methodology. The study evaluates administrative workloads across three intensity levels—low, average, and highly overloaded—and enhance our methodology by incorporating data that influences the process's inception and conclusion in all scenarios. Our research is further expanded with qualitative alongside quantitative methods for a thorough perspective. Our findings indicate substantial overtime and high turnover rates among administrators due to enrolment demands. The P-Graph methodology exposes significant inefficiencies and difficulties in meeting standard hour targets. It also reveals the optimal process flow and resource allocation, promoting its wider application in public service sectors for sustainable management practices. In collaboration with administrators to meticulously record task times and case revisits, the research offers an in-depth evaluation of administrative efficiency and resource utilization. The study concludes that managing an average enrolment of 4,200 students is inefficient for administrative employees, leading to high overtime rates that harm staff well-being. Our holistic approach, augmented with initial and final process impact data plus qualitative insights, highlights the P-Graph methodology's potential in transforming Public Services Management. This method not only enhances process efficiency and resource allocation but also aligns with sustainability objectives, marking a significant stride in sustainable public service practices.

An assessment of ambient air quality in Gyor, Hungary

This paper presents an assessment of air quality of the city Gyor, located 120 km west to the capital of Hungary. Two urban air monitoring stations are operated by the local Environmental Protection Laboratory in the city. The concentration data of major air pollutants (CO, NOx, SO2, C6H6, O3, PM10, PM2.5), PM10-bound heavy metals (Pb, Cd, As and Ni) and some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) including benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), benzo(a)anthracene, sum of three benzofluoranthene (b, k and j) isomers, indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene and dibenzo(a,h)anthracene are available for the assessment based on the latest published monitoring data of the Hungarian Air Quality Monitoring Network. The levels of pollutants were compared with the Hungarian and EU limit or target values defined for health protection and the WHO air quality guidelines (AQGs) or estimated reference levels (RLs). Moreover, the air quality index values for the pollutants were calculated. The results indicated that the main pollutants were BaP, PM10 and PM2.5 in the Gyor atmosphere. The annual mean concentration of PM10 and PM2.5 aerosols reached the WHO AQGs (20 and 10 μg/m3), while that of the BaP it was about 5.5 times higher than the WHO RL value of 0.12 ng/m3. However, a good or excellent air quality was identified for all examined air pollutants based on the concentration data evaluated by the Hungarian and EU limit or target values.
