The role of purpose in life as reflected in the indicators of body composition, fitness and quality of life in women working in the social sector

Introduction: Professionals working in the social sector typically do significant overwork in rather unfavourable working conditions. Although the purpose in life is proved to determine the areas of career, health awareness, and the quality of life, the latter has not yet been confirmed among social workers. Objective: The purpose of this research is to demonstrate body composition and fitness status as well as the quality of life of female employees (n = 127) at a social institution, furthermore the decisive role purpose of life plays in these indicators. Method: Data were collected through questionnaires, tests, body composition analyses, and fitness status tests, and were assessed by t-test, analysis of variance and regression analysis. Results: Body composition of the participants indicates a generally overweight status, while fitness status, quality of life, and purpose of life are within the acceptable range, however, all with notable range values. Those with a higher-level purpose of life demonstrate better fitness indicators and higher quality of life. In terms of body composition, fitness, and quality of life, only a minor difference was found between those who do intellectual and physical type of work. Those who took sick leave demonstrated a lower level of fitness and quality of life compared to those who did not take any sick leave. Body composition and fitness status have proven to deteriorate with age. Conclusion: Previous research findings can be confirmed by stating that neither the body composition and fitness indicators, nor the quality-of-life level of social workers are optimal. The determining role of purpose in life has been proven in substantial aspects in this study. One of the focus areas of enhancing purpose in life is the workplace, where major positive impacts can be achieved in terms of the physical and mental health, well-being, and work performance.

Mapping quality linkages based on tacit knowledge

A structured conceptualization method, concept mapping, is applied to visualize the conceptual domain of explicit and tacit quality linkages in a complex, causally ambiguous production system of a premium automotive OEM. Experts, intimately familiar with all facets of the conceptual domain, defined sources of quality problems and rated their impact on product quality. These inputs, formative measures for a latent construct, were used to create concept maps and clusters for the sources of quality problems. Differences and disagreements between subgroups were highlighted by pattern matching. The concept map and the preferred cluster solution, based on user-defined measures, served as inputs in the development of a causal loop diagram and an action plan for better resource allocation to specific improvement activities. The approach, using formative rather than the more commonly used reflective indicators, uses key informants and explanation building processes of high internal validity. In the spirit of the “proximal similarity model,” the presented methodology is also highly transferable to similar settings of other automotive OEMs and beyond.

As the field of AM progresses, new possibilities for elastomers in creating complex, detailed components have emerged. Techniques like VAT photopolymerization (VAT) and extrusion-based 3D printing have expanded the versatility of these materials in industries ranging from healthcare to automotive. The chapter explores the evolution of AM technologies, from the early developments in rapid prototyping to modern methods like fused deposition modeling (FDM), digital light processing (DLP), and direct ink writing (DIW). These advancements have unlocked new potentials for elastomers, enabling customized, precise part fabrication with reduced waste. Challenges such as high viscosity in photopolymer resins, adhesion issues, and material compatibility are discussed, alongside the strategies to overcome them, including the incorporation of fillers, cross-linking methods, and rheological control. Furthermore, the chapter highlights ongoing research in optimizing elastomer formulations for improved mechanical properties and the development of advanced elastomeric materials for specialized applications in additive manufacturing.

The rise of micromobility has brought increased use of low-speed transport devices such as electric scooters, Segways, and e-bikes. Despite their global popularity, the legal status of electric scooters remains unclear. A key regulatory question is whether e-scooters should be classified as vehicles. While some European countries consider them vehicles, others place them under existing categories like mopeds or bicycles, or even classify them as pedestrian devices. This classification affects all subsequent regulatory considerations. This study focuses on the registration of electric scooters, a topic with limited information despite its potential to address legal issues like theft and liability. The analysis examines regulatory frameworks in select European countries, compares them with practices in certain U.S. states, and highlights successful approaches in Asia, notably Singapore. The findings emphasize the role of vehicle databases in legal problem-solving and evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems. It may also be an incentive for the legislator to consider whether appropriate solutions can be found for the registration of other means of transport (e.g., bicycles, mopeds) and whether the adoption of these options could be appropriate for electric scooters.

This paper investigates the spatiotemporal distribution of employment expectations in industry (BS-IEME-BAL) between 1992 and 2025, using DG ECFIN Business and Consumer Surveys (BCS) data. The main aim is to identify areas with critical dynamics of the industrial labour market and to assess regional trends in labour fluctuations. The method used is based on Emerging Hot Spot Analysis (EHSA) in GIS, which allows the detection of regions where employment growth or decline has a persistent, oscillating, or emerging trend. The algorithm classifies areas according to the intensity and persistence of variations, allowing for anticipation of the impact of economic transformations on the industrial labour market. The study highlights critical regions where public policies can intervene to mitigate the negative effects or to support sustainable employment growth. Identifying hot spots in the industry contributes to the development of adaptive territorial strategies, based on spatial data, for the efficient management of structural changes in the labour market.

The study investigates the economic growth in Central and Eastern Europe in the last 25 years. The economy can be regarded as a substantial topic in any country, but it is even more interesting in developing countries. One of the basic ideas of the European Union is the convergence between member states, namely the reduction of development disparities, which can be achieved through faster economic growth in less-developed countries. Growth theory is one of the main topics in economics. Its significant importance is because the desire for development is one of the main driving forces of mankind. The aim of the study is to reveal the crucial differences and common features between the growth paths of the eleven Central and Eastern European member states of the European Union. After presenting growth theories, the growth performance of the examined Central and Eastern European member states is pinpointed. During the research, GDP per capita, population, migration, activity rate, employment rate, unemployment rate, foreign direct investment and foreign trade openness are considered.

The study presents a development proposal coordinated by the Hungarian Academy of Engineering (MMA) for intelligent navigation management on the Danube. We analyse the introduction of a security-enhancing central control system based on the IDM model. The publication reviews the main issues related to navigation safety in Hungary. Without claiming to be exhaustive, in the field of water transport control theory and practical applications, important players include HUN-REN SZTAKI, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Széchenyi István University, HungaroControl Zrt. and the Water Police. This development requires combining modern control theory and a high-capacity 5G network. The program proposes the implementation of intelligent control in the first phase in the Budapest area, between river km 1660 in the north and river km 1633 in the south. This is because accidents much larger than the "Hableány" boat tragedy that occurred in Budapest on the evening of May 29, 2019, at 9:05 p.m., may occur in this section in the future. Consider, for example, the appearance of convoys transporting 6000-8000 tons of dangerous goods on the Danube. These represent a very serious source of danger in the event of collisions with the Budapest bridge piers. The proposal also intends to support the RSOE river IT system (developed by NOVOFER Zrt.), which has been built and operating since the end of 2018.

In the present work nanowires are investigated, which were prepared with the help of encapsulated metal induced growth method on GaAs and InP substrate. As our former investigations how, we can receive nanowires with substrate-like composition in the case of InP. In the case of GaAs substrate the situation is entirely different, while the growth technology in both cases was the same. The difference between the nanoproducts in the cases of different substrates originate in the reactivity of the components, which is explained in the following considerations. Furthermore we have observed that the diameter of the nanowires depends on the electron energy of the irradiation. If the electron beam was 5 kV and 20 kV, the diameter lasting increases and decreases, respectively. This effect can be explained by the change of the nanowires structure influenced by the electron beam. © 2008 IEEE.

The paper introduces a novel method for constructing Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) Neural Networks (NN) with the aid of fuzzy systems, particularly by deploying fuzzy J-K flip-flops as neurons. The next state Q(t+1) of the J-K fuzzy flip-flops (F3) in terms of input J can be characterized by a more or less S-shaped function, for each F3 derived from the Yager, Dombi, and Fodor norms and co-norms. In this approach, J represents the neuron input. The other input K is wired to the complemental output (K=1-Q), thus an elementary fuzzy sequential unit with a single input and a single output is received. The algebraic F3 having linear J-Q(t+1) characteristics is added to the above three. The paper proposes the investigation of the possibility of constructing multilayer perceptrons from such real fuzzy hardware units. Each of the four candidates for F3-based neurons is examined for its training capability by evaluating and comparing the approximation capabilities for two different transcendental functions.
