Embedded System Simulation for Electrical Hardware Test Virtualization

In the automotive industry, the reduction of development costs has a key importance. Also, the duration of the development is a significant aspect. Electrical hardware development is an expensive, time-consuming process with a lot of development stages (e.g., prototypes, electrical tests, mechanical tests, lifecycle tests). Virtualization is an important factor in making electrical component development more sustainable; using this method, less prototype manufacturing is necessary since the simulations make it faster and more effective to find out a large portion of possible faults without building a hardware prototype. The main goal of the paper is to explore the capabilities of seven software solutions that can manage the virtualization of the electrical development toolchain. The simulation environment should manage the simulation of the electrical circuit, including the sensors and loads, the microcontroller, and the execution and debugging of the uploaded program code. The study provides guidance on choosing the proper simulator depending on the simulation focus.

Experimental and numerical investigation of the single-point incremental forming of aluminium alloy foils

Single-Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is a flexible process for manufacturing sheet metal parts that is well adapted and profitable for prototypes or small batch production. Compared to traditional sheet forming technologies, this relatively slow process can be used in different applications in the automotive and aircraft industries; architecture engineering; and medical aid manufacture. In this article, the indirectly obtained axial forming force on the SPIF of variable wall angle geometry is studied using different process parameters. The estimation of the forces on AlMn1Mg1 sheets with an initial thickness of 0.22 mm is performed by continuous monitoring of servomotor currents. The deformation states of the formed parts were analysed using the ARGUS optical strain measurement system of GOM, while the roughness measurements were carried out by a Mitutoyo system. Some initial finite element analysis simulations and a crack monitoring method together with an interaction plot of forming speed, incremental depth, tool diameter, and lubrication were also reported.

Utilization of Waste Marble Dust in Poly(Lactic Acid)-Based Biocomposites: Mechanical, Thermal and Wear Properties

The aim of this present work was to study the applicability of waste marble dust (MD) in poly(lactic acid) (PLA)-based composites. Samples containing up to 20 wt% waste MD were prepared via melt blending. The attention was focused on the investigation of mechanical, morphological, thermal properties and the wear resistance of the PLA/MD composites. Regarding the mechanical properties, both the tensile and the flexural modulus improved remarkably, however, a slight loss was observed in strength and deformability. The impact toughness showed an increasing tendency up to 10 wt% MD loading, which was followed by a marginal decrease at higher concentration. With respect to the sliding wear rate, the composite with the highest MD content showed the best wear resistance. According to the DSC measurements, the MD hampered the chain mobility of PLA, thereby reducing the crystalline ratio. Overall, composites with improved properties were developed, while the reuse of waste MD is expected to reduce the production costs as well.

Weed surveys and weed mapping in Europe: State of the art and future tasks

Long-term national European weed surveys, large scale classical phytosociological programs and camera-based documentation systems lead to results which can be documented in form of maps. Comparisons of these visual representations of relative weed positions can be used for the prediction of changing weed spectra and of plant biodiversity changes. Statistical methods connected with mapping software are used for the analysis of environmental factors and of farm managing practices influencing the occurrence of weeds. Maps produced by sensor-driven weed detection devices still differ considerably from maps produced via classical phytosociological approaches. Computer algorithms may allow the precise identification of some weeds in camera images. The present technical solutions are, however, still far from those achieved by experienced botanists. Many weed detection tools based on algorithms are not able to distinguish between closely related weeds yet. A few European countries have a long tradition of surveying weeds in major crops by traditional tools. Various software packages are employed for the analysis, documentation and visualisation of survey results. Large scale comprehensive maps including the infestation of crops over different countries are, however, often biased as not every national research group uses the same methods for the assessment of weed infestation. The ranking of the most common species seems, however, to allow comparable conclusions. The recognition of trends in spectrum changes can only be derived from long term studies as we see it. Our review reflects discussions within the Weed Mapping Working Group of the European Weed Research Society over the last ten years. We try to identify new research trends and to respond accordingly with new research projects. What we see today is a shift from traditional mapping approaches towards the use of digital devices as for example in precision farming projects. Another issue of increasing importance is the mapping of herbicide resistant biotypes.

The Role of the Civil Sector in Contribution to Social Well-Being and in Shaping Active Citizenship

Nowadays social and economic issues can have unfavourable consequences; social problems both at the global and local level are outstanding and it is essential to find solutions because of the efficient functioning of the economy and the society. Also, state and for-profit actors can take part in solving these problems, but there are lots of services which can be provided only by civil organizations. The first part of the paper presents the concept of civil organizations and current issues of them in Hungary. After that, it describes the way of their contribution to the active citizenship and to social well-being based on theoretical and empirical background. We made a questionnaire research in 2013 among civil organizations at the regional level in Hungary; we would like to show the main results of it. This paper presents a review of the main participatory forms of the organizations through which they can contribute to the improvement of the services and to the expanding of the supply. An important message of the paper is that civil organizations cannot operate without active citizens, our study will also show the methods how civil organizations can contribute to the active citizenship and what kind of elements and barriers have this process. This paper can add to the literature of the civil organizations and can be useful both for policy makers, researchers and citizens.

The Most Promising Way of Weed Management in Onion (Allium cepa L.) Production—A Systematic Review

Onions (Allium cepa L.) are widely cultivated and consumed vegetable crops around the world. Weed interference is the main limitation to onion production. Onions grow slowly, are short-statured, and are non-branching, which makes them difficult to compete with weeds. The aim of this study was to summarise the literature published between 2020 and 2025 that evaluated the effectiveness of different weed control methods used in onion cultivation using a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines. Based on the results, pendimethalin and oxyfluorfen were the most used and most effective herbicides. Combining pre- and post-emergence treatments and spraying herbicide mixtures improved weed control efficiency compared with single treatments. Acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors can adversely affect onions and reduce yield, making them unsuitable for use in onion production. Integrated weed management practises, such as combining herbicides with manual weeding and using plant-based extracts, offer a sustainable approach that can reduce reliance on chemicals. Mechanical weed management is not widely adopted in onion production because its application poses numerous challenges. The future direction of weed management should focus on technological advances in mechanical weed control and the development of bioherbicides to reduce reliance on synthetic herbicides.

Supporting the Pedagogical Evaluation of Educational Institutions with the Help of the WTCAi System

One of the main aims of educational institutions, is to prepare children for further education and successful integration into the workforce. To achieve this, as much as possible, it is necessary to meet the requirements and expectations set by dynamically changing economic and social environments. Research has shown that learner-centered knowledge transfer and a constructive pedagogical approach have proven more effective in achieving all possible learning outcomes than cognitivist learning theory (teacher-centered education). Therefore, pedagogical monitoring and evaluation procedures are necessary and integral parts, of the educational process, with the goal not only being performance evaluation but also improving and supporting the learning process. Then again, a sad characteristic of the current system is that, on the one hand, it needs to support individual learning paths adequately and on the other hand, the validity of measuring tools suffers, due to the generation gap between teachers and children. Therefore, the development of pedagogical monitoring and evaluation processes, should be an integral part of the constant improvement of educational institutions. Consequently, the question arises: How can the pedagogical monitoring and evaluation system be developed, so that individual learning paths are supported and the validity of measurement tools is optimally ensured? In seeking the answer to this question, our research aims to develop a complex evaluation system, supported by artificial intelligence (WTCAi-When The Child Ask with AI), that suggests suitable actions for monitoring and evaluation, for subject teachers.

NREM parasomnia-related behaviors and adverse childhood experiences

Purpose: To assess the prevalence, types, sociodemographic factors, and reported dangerous activities of sleep-related behaviors likely representing NREM parasomnia episodes, as well as their association with adverse childhood experiences in Hungary. Methods: Cross-sectional survey of 1000 adults (aged ≥18 years) representing the Hungarian population, using a non-probability quota sampling with a random walk method and a structured face-to-face interview. A multi-criterion weighting procedure was applied to correct bias along the main sociodemographic variables to the data available. Binary logistic regression estimated the odds of NREM parasomnia-related behaviors associated with sociodemographic factors and adverse childhood experiences. Results: The prevalence of NREM parasomnia-related behaviors was 2.7 %, and self-reported sleep-eating was 0.1 % of the population (4.6 % of parasomnia-like activities). For middle-aged adults, the odds of sleep ambulation were significantly lower than for younger adults (OR 0.3; P = 0.03). A participant's family occurrence of reported parasomnia-like activity increased their odds of having it by more than 7 times (OR 7.1; P < 0.001). Nine participants out of those 27 people reporting NREM parasomnia-related behavior episodes, reported childhood adverse experiences, increasing the odds of parasomnia-related behavior by more than six times (OR 6.2; P < 0.001) compared to those not reporting it. Conclusion: This is the first population survey in Hungary on adult sleep-related behaviors likely representing NREM parasomnia episodes and the potential association with childhood traumatic events preceding them. The related dangerous behaviors call for safety measures and prevention. The significant association between adverse childhood events and NREM parasomnia-related behaviors needs further analysis.

Vehicle classification using neural networks with a single magnetic detector
