The current definition of the Complex Hesitant Fuzzy Set (CHFS), derived from the Ramot form of complex numbers, cannot process information as in Tamir’s complex fuzzy form. We have data with uncertainty and extra information that cannot be described by any other structure than Tamir’s complex fuzzy form. Hence, in this article, we initiated the idea of CHFS based on Tamir’s complex fuzzy form and established its operational laws. Since Decision-Making (DM) theory is central to nearly all disciplines, we have proposed a novel complex hesitant fuzzy Multi-Criterion Decision-Making (MCDM) model. This method can handle all sorts of real-life MCDM problems, where the data contains uncertainty, hesitancy, and extra fuzzy information. While developing this method, we also develop and apply Dombi aggregation operators in this manuscript. After that, we discussed a case study that concerns energy storage system selection for AI-controlled microgrids and discussed how the theory we have developed can be applied to real-world challenges. Last, we conferred on how this proposed theory is superior to other theories and why it should be adopted.

The Role of food aid and livelihood interventions in mediating the relationship between household's resilience and economic empowerment

The concept of resilience has been utilized to examine more complex ecological and socioeconomic systems such as agri-food systems in developing countries. Gaza has one of the high unemployment rates globally, therefore keeping people imprisoned in poverty and dependent on external support to existing. The strategy for poverty reduction in Gaza primarily consists of giving food aid or multi-purpose cash-based assistance and livelihood projects; nevertheless, this does not reduce unemployment or poverty in the long term. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have increased their efforts to provide more effective and comprehensive interventions to the affected populations, especially in the Gaza Strip. The research implemented a quantitative methodology distributed to over 300 household benefited from food aid and livelihood interventions through the NGOs in Gaza Strip. The questionnaire had been constructed based on the Likert Scale ranging from 1 (Strongly Agree) to 5 (Strongly Disagree). The data had been treated using SPSS statistical tool and AMOS for structural equation modeling and analysis to study the mediating effect of food aid and livelihood interventions on the relationship between household resilience and economic empowerment in the Gaza Strip. The research found that the resilience ability of many families in the Gaza Strip has increased because of the humanitarian assistance provided by NGOs, which lead to reducing poverty and household resilience plays a vital role in minimizing poverty and alleviating suffering through empowering and engaging them in the economy. The research also found that food aid tends to critically impact the relationship between household resilience and economic empowerment. NGOs play an essential role in engaging the poor in the economy through providing food security and encouraging new investments and efforts to improve help effectiveness via greater coordination among players involved in the implementation and better planning, targeting, and providing aid to people in Gaza Strip. The research findings also showed that livelihood interventions mediate the relationship between household resilience and economic empowerment in Gaza Strip. The structural model supports that the livelihood interventions modulated the association between household resilience and economic empowerment.

Unveiling temporal and frequency spillovers: Climate-risk indices and energy futures markets

This study investigates the time- and frequency-domain spillover dynamics between climate-risk indices, namely the Transition Risk Index (TRI), Physical Risk Index (PRI), Global Climate Policy Uncertainty (GCPU))and major energy futures markets, including ICE Europe Brent crude oil futures (continuation), the global crude benchmark (Brent), ICE Europe Low Sulphur Gasoil futures, a European middle-distillate benchmark (Gasoil), Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Abu Dhabi Murban crude oil futures (continuation), a Middle Eastern light-sweet benchmark (Murban), Shanghai Crude, New York Harbor Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel futures (NYMEX) continuation (ULSD), and West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures (NYMEX Light Sweet Crude Oil futures continuation) (WTI). Employing a flexible econometric framework based on TVP-VAR and quantile connectedness, the analysis uncovers non-linear, asymmetric, and time-varying spillovers, with markedly stronger linkages during extreme market conditions and in the short term. Energy commodities, particularly Gasoil and WTI, emerge as significant net transmitters of transition risks, amplifying volatility during periods of stress, while long-term spillovers remain relatively weak, reflecting gradual decarbonization trends. The unique contribution of this paper lies in extending the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT) by integrating climate risks as dynamic, state-dependent, and non-diversifiable factors, thereby demonstrating how energy asset sensitivities fluctuate across regimes and quantiles. This approach advances the asset pricing and climate finance literature beyond static models by embedding dynamic connectedness into risk transmission analysis. The findings highlight the systemic nature of climate risks and underscore the importance of adaptive financial regulation, forward-looking climate policy, and flexible risk management practices to mitigate volatility and support the global energy transition. These insights provide actionable guidance for policymakers, regulators, and investors navigating the evolving interplay between climate risks and energy markets.

Modeling Hepatitis B and Alcohol Effects on Liver Cirrhosis Progression

Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection and heavy alcohol consumption are the two primary pathogenic causes of liver cirrhosis. In this paper, we proposed a deterministic mathematical model and a logistic equation to investigate the dynamics of liver cirrhosis progression as well as to explain the implications of variations in alcohol consumption on chronic hepatitis B patients, respectively. The intricate interactions between liver cirrhosis, recovery, and treatment dynamics are captured by the model. This study aims to show that alcohol consumption by Hepatitis B-infected individuals accelerates liver cirrhosis progression while treatment of acutely infected individuals reduces it. We proved that a unique solution of the proposed model exists, which is positive and bounded. Using the next-generation matrix approach, two basic reproductive numbers RA0 and RAmax are calculated to identify future recurrence. The equilibrium points are calculated, and both equilibria are proved locally and globally asymptotically stable when R0 is below and above one, respectively. It is shown that bifurcation exists at R0 = 1 and a detailed proof for forward bifurcation is given. Furthermore, we performed the sensitivity analysis of the model parameters on R0. For the confirmation of analytical work, we performed numerical simulations, and the results indicate that the treatment and the inhibitory effects reduce the risk of developing liver cirrhosis in individuals, while heavy alcohol consumption accelerates markedly the liver cirrhosis progression in patients with chronic hepatitis B.

The study attempts to investigate how financial literacy regarding sustainable energy investments influences the performance of ESG on economic, social, and governance factors in the Mexican context. Through a careful examination of available literature, policy guidelines, and empirical data, this research discovers that greater financial literacy in green and renewable energy sectors has a direct correlation with improved ESG performance, which results in sustainable economic development, social advancement, and governance culture in Mexico. The study concludes that strategic actions to increase financial literacy in renewable energy investments are required for Mexico's sustainable development trajectory and ESG leadership in the Latin American region.

Retrofit Synthesis of Industrial Heat Exchanger Networks with Different Types of Heat Exchangers

Heat Exchanger Network (HEN) synthesis is a powerful tool for the development of more efficient processes with high utilization of mass and energy resources. The implementation of compact heat exchangers with enhanced heat transfer into the industrial flowsheets can provide more efficient and economically feasible solutions. Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE) is one of established types of enhanced HEs. To estimate possible benefits of that kind of heat transfer enhancement, a mathematical model of PHE, which accounts for different plate types and corresponding corrugations geometry, is used. The integration of this model with the P-graph-based HEN synthesis approach allowed to create the method, which considers different types of heat exchangers. This approach enables to integrate not only conventional shell-and-tube heat exchangers, but also PHEs, which overall heat transfer coefficient is in average 2-3 times higher, during the optimization process of a new or existing HEN. The capabilities of the proposed method are presented via a case study for oil preheat train, where an existing network is retrofitted; first with shell-and-tube heat exchangers only, then with the consideration of both shell-and-tube and plate heat exchangers.

Preserving and passing on folk traditions and gastronomic culture to the next generation has always been an important task of elderly people in every single historic period. The main goal of this study is to provide a clear picture of travelers’ attitudes toward gastronomy and cultural values in a western Hungarian county. The presence of the Szigetköz Nature Park and some World Heritage sites (like Fertő-Hanság National Park and Abbey of Pannonhalma) requires responsible tourism planning that is environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable. When conducting quantitative research (survey based on questionnaires), special attention was paid to tourists’ knowledge of gastronomy values and architectural, cultural, and natural attractions. Four hypotheses were formulated in this study. The data collection took place between 1 September 2023 and 30, October 2023 (N = 666). The sample is not representative since the respondents were randomly selected. As opposed to previous studies, the most important novelty of this research is that tourists’ visits to different destinations were assessed while previous studies mainly focused on the interests of tourists.

Effectiveness of exercise interventions on androgen and sex hormone-binding globulin levels in women with polycystic ovary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Introduction: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common disorder typified by hyperandrogenism, ovarian dysfunction, and metabolic disorders. Elevated androgen and decreased Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) levels are some of the main features contributing to its clinical manifestations. Lifestyle interventions, especially exercise, are considered first-line management methods due to their positive effects on hormonal regulation. Due to a lack of comprehensively synthesized data on the effects of exercise on androgen and SHBG levels, in this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to evaluate the effects of structured exercise on Total Testosterone and Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA-S) as primary parameters, and SHBG levels as secondary parameters. Methods: Relevant databases (EMBASE, Scopus PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Trials) were searched for Randomized Clinical Trials (RCTs) and Controlled Clinical Trials (CCTs) on exercise in Rotterdam-diagnosed PCOS women. Study selection and data extraction were carried out by two separate reviewers. Risk of bias was assessed using Cochrane RoB 2. Meta-analyses, employing a random-effects model, calculated Mean Differences (MDs) for hormonal outcomes, with subgroup analyses for different exercise types [e.g., aerobic, high-intensity interval training (HIIT)]. Results: A total of 23 studies involving women with PCOS were included. For the overall effect of exercise vs. control, meta-analysis of 12 studies (n = 563 participants) showed no significant effect on Total Testosterone, DHEA-S (5 studies, n = 231 participants), or SHBG (10 studies, n = 422 participants). However, subgroup analysis revealed that aerobic exercise led to a statistically significant reduction in Total Testosterone levels (4 studies, n = 212 participants). HIIT did not show a significant effect on Total Testosterone or SHBG. Conclusion: Aerobic exercise significantly reduces total testosterone levels in women with PCOS, according to this meta-analysis, indicating that it may be used as a non-pharmacological method of managing hyperandrogenism.
