Abstract: A female specimen of the thick-headed fly, Thecophora bimaculata (Preyssler, 1791), was collected in Hungary. This species is new to the Hungarian fly fauna, and this is the 54th representative of the family Conopidae Latreille, 1802 recorded from the country. A short, illustrated descriptionis presented about the newly collected species, accompanied by notes on the Thecophora of Hungary.

Green supply chain management and SMEs sustainable performance in developing country: role of green knowledge sharing, green innovation and big data-driven supply chain

The objective of this study was to examine the impact of green supply chain management (GSCM) on sustainable performance (SP) and the mediating role of green knowledge sharing (GKS), green innovation (GI), and big data-driven supply chain (BDDSC) in SMEs of Pakistan as a developing country. Primary data was gathered through adopted questionnaires from SME employees. Four hundred sixty-nine cases were considered for data analysis after data clearing in SPSS version 25. Furthermore, the proposed hypotheses were tested with the help of SmartPLS version 3 through structural equation modeling SEM. Findings revealed all seven direct hypotheses, including GSCM on SP, GKS, GI, and BDDSC and GKS, GI, and BDDSC on SP in SMEs of Pakistan. Moreover, the partial mediation effect of GKS, GI, and BDDSC was also confirmed between GSCM and SP. This study contributes to the context of SMEs in developing countries and recommends findings for future policies and implications at the firm and government levels for better results. Policymakers, SME owners, and managers must support innovation culture, engage their stakeholders, and invest in new products, processes, and business models relevant to addressing environmental and sustainability concerns. Moreover, Pakistan’s government policymakers recognize SMEs’ power to effectively integrate GSCM knowledge sharing, green innovation, GSCM practices, and big data technology into supply chain management.

The paper is concerned with analyzing and comparing two exact algorithms from the viewpoint of computational complexity. They are: composite justification and the D-algorithm. Both serve for calculating fault-detection tests of digital circuits. As a result, it is pointed out that the composite justification requires significantly less computational step than the D-algorithm. From this fact it has been conjectured that possibly no other algorithm is available in this field with fewer computational steps. If the claim holds, then it follows directly that the test-generation problem is of exponential time, and so are all the other NP-complete problems in the field of computation theory. © 2011 IEEE.

The Lane-Emden equations are essential tools for modeling heat and mass transfer, chemical reactions, and various scientific fields. This study focuses on solutions to Lane-Emden equations in chemical engineering. It examines the impact on concentration profiles in both catalyst and biocatalyst systems with cylindrical and spherical geometries. The research proposes a hybrid approach combining a collocation method with genetic algorithms to solve Lane-Emden equations in diffusion-reaction systems. It also investigates how different parameters, such as Thiele modulus (ρ), dimensionless activation energy (µ), and dimensionless heat of reaction (α) affect these solutions. The methodology is effective across both low and high values of ρ, µ, and α. Overall, the results demonstrate the potential to address limitations of previous methods and highlight the strength of the GA-based approach.

The analysis assesses the direct and mediated effects of relevance, coherence, and effectiveness on project success, offering empirical insights into the role of efficiency in optimizing resource utilization. Findings: The results indicate that relevance, coherence, and effectiveness significantly influence project success, while efficiency strengthens these relationships by ensuring better resource allocation and implementation. The study highlights the importance of community engagement, alignment with local needs, and cultural sensitivity in achieving sustainable project outcomes. Novelty/Improvement: This research presents an integrated evaluation framework that enhances understanding of the interplay between key project assessment criteria and efficiency in humanitarian work. The findings provide actionable insights for organizations operating in complex environments like Gaza, helping refine project planning and execution strategies to improve sustainability and impact.

Mechanical Properties of Clay-Reinforced Polyamide 6 Nanocomposite Liner Materials of Type IV Hydrogen Storage Vessels

This study focuses on polyamide 6/organo-modified montmorillonite (PA6/OMMT) nanocomposites as potential liner materials, given the growing interest in enhancing the performance of type IV composite overwrapped hydrogen storage pressure vessels. The mechanical properties of PA6/OMMT composites with varying filler concentrations were investigated across a temperature range relevant to hydrogen storage conditions (−40 °C to +85 °C). Liner collapse, a critical issue caused by rapid gas discharge, was analyzed using an Ishikawa diagram to identify external and internal factors. Mechanical testing revealed that higher OMMT content generally increased stiffness, especially at elevated temperatures. The Young’s modulus and first yield strength exhibited non-linear temperature dependencies, with 1 wt. per cent OMMT content enhancing yield strength at all tested temperatures. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) indicated that OMMT improves the storage modulus, suggesting effective filler dispersion, but it also reduces the toughness and heat resistance, as evidenced by lower glass transition temperatures. This study underscores the importance of optimizing OMMT content to balance mechanical performance and thermal stability for the practical application of PA6/OMMT nanocomposites in hydrogen storage pressure vessels.

Effect of cell disruption methods on the extraction of bioactive metabolites from microalgal biomass

Microalgae synthesize a variety of potentially high-value compounds. Due to their robust cell wall, cell disruption is necessary to improve extraction of these compounds. While cell disruption methods have been optimized for lipid and protein extraction, there are limited studies for other bioactive compounds. The present study investigated the effect of freeze-drying combined with sonication or ball-milling on the extraction of antioxidant and plant biostimulating compounds from Chlorella sp., Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus acutus. Both cell disruption methods resulted in higher extract yields from the biomass compared to freeze-dried biomass using 50% methanol as a solvent. Antioxidant activity of Chlorella extracts was generally higher than freeze-dried extracts based on the diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and β-carotene linoleic acid assays. However, the effectiveness of each treatment varied between microalgae strains. Sonication resulted in the highest antioxidant activity in Chlorella sp. extracts. Ball-milling gave the best results for C. vulgaris extracts in the DPPH assay. Both cell disruption methods decreased antioxidant activity in S. acutus extracts. Plant biostimulating activity was tested using the mung bean rooting assay. Damaging the membrane by freeze-drying was sufficient to release the active compounds using water extracts. In contrast, both cell disruption methods negatively affected the biological activity of the extracts. These results indicate that bioactive compounds in microalgae are sensitive to post-harvest processes and their biological activity can be negatively affected by cell disruption methods. Care must be taken to not only optimize yield but to also preserve the biological activity of the target compounds.

Dynamics of fuzzy-rough cognitive networks

Fuzzy-rough cognitive networks (FRCNs) are interpretable recurrent neural networks, primarily designed for solving classification problems. Their structure is simple and transparent, while the performance is comparable to the well-known black-box classifiers. Although there are many applications on fuzzy cognitive maps and recently for FRCNS, only a very limited number of studies discuss the theoretical issues of these models. In this paper, we examine the behaviour of FRCNs viewing them as discrete dynamical systems. It will be shown that their mathematical properties highly depend on the size of the network, i.e., there are structural differences between the long-term behaviour of FRCN models of different size, which may influence the performance of these modelling tools.

Digital transformation (DT) has become vital for companies trying to remain competitive in the recent ever-changing technological environment. DT is the integration of digital technologies into all disciplines of business from regular activities to strategic decision making. Risk management planning requires projects to assess possible risks that may negatively or positively affect a DT project. The purpose of the study is to introduce a hybridized decision support system (DSS) by combining the distance measure, ranking comparison (RANCOM) model and additive ratio assessment (ARAS) approach in the context of a picture fuzzy set (PFS). In this framework, the decision experts’ significance values are computed using a picture fuzzy score function-based formula. With the combination of objective weight using distance measure and subjective weight through the RANCOM model, a combined weight-determining approach is developed to determine the significance values of considered DT risks under picture fuzzy environment, while a hybrid ARAS model is developed to evaluate and rank DT projects from the risks perspective. To exhibit the feasibility of the introduced framework, a case study of a DT projects assessment problem is discussed in the context of picture fuzzy sets. A sensitivity study is also discussed over different values of the strategy coefficient, which confirms the strength of the proposed model. Further, a comparison with the existing picture fuzzy information-based methods is presented to prove the robustness of the developed decision-making framework.
