Social media applications through the lens of DeLone and McLean’s information system success model: does perceived privacy matter?

Publication Name: Humanities and Social Sciences Communications

Publication Date: 2025-12-01

Volume: 12

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Social media applications (SMAs) significantly impact higher education by affecting students, professors, and institutions through various features that may improve learning, communication, and collaboration. However, many studies have focused on the initial use of SMAs, rarely considering their post-adoption and continued usage. Additionally, there are growing concerns about the privacy behaviour of SMA users, which remains inadequately examined. Therefore, this study explores the impact of perceived privacy on the relationship between tripartite quality constructs, user satisfaction, and continual usage using DeLone and McLean’s information system success (ISS) model. This study surveyed 384 SMA users among university lecturers through a convenience sampling approach, and SmartPLS 4, nonparametric software, was used to analyse the data. These findings elucidate the elements affecting SMA usage, suggesting that service and information quality influence continual usage. The tripartite quality constructs correlate with users’ satisfaction, which robustly correlates with continual usage. In addition, perceived privacy influences the links between service quality, system quality, and continual usage. This study finds that perceived privacy is crucial to DeLone and McLean’s ISS model. Hence, information privacy must be ensured to create more secure, functional, and engaging applications. Suppliers and developers should focus on improving app quality, security, and protection, which are precursors to user satisfaction and continual usage. This study examines the moderating role of perceived privacy in DeLone and McLean’s model. Its strong predictive model demonstrates the theoretical robustness of the ISS model for studying the continual usage of SMAs.

Assessing the Impact of IT, Trade Globalisation, and Economic Complexity on Carbon Emissions in BRICS Economies

Publication Name: Economies

Publication Date: 2025-06-01

Volume: 13

Issue: 6

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The escalating threat of climate change has placed carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at the forefront of global environmental policy. The relationship between carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and information technology (IT) is crucial in shaping international climate change strategies. This study investigates the impact of information technology, trade globalisation (TG), and economic complexity (EC) on CO2 emissions in BRICS countries using panel data from 1996 to 2018. The analysis applies the CUP-FM estimator to assess long-run relationships and the Dumitrescu–Hurlin panel causality test to evaluate directionality. The results show that information technology significantly reduces CO2 emissions. This effect is primarily driven by the promotion of the service sector, reduced material use, and improved energy efficiency. In contrast, trade globalisation has an inconsistent impact. While it can lower emissions through technology diffusion and efficiency gains, it can also increase them due to Scale Effects and the relocation of polluting industries. This study also identifies a U-shaped relationship between economic complexity and CO2 emissions, indicating that emissions initially rise with complexity but decline as innovation and clean production practices improve. These findings suggest that developing digital infrastructure and green technologies and trade Globalisation can promote sustainable development in BRICS economies. Therefore, policymakers should prioritise strengthening the IT environment, fostering international trade partnerships, and integrating clean technologies to balance economic growth with environmental protection.

The Triple Threat to Our Environment: Economic, Non-Economic, and Demographic Factors Driving Ecological Footprint in Nuclear-Power Countries

Publication Name: Economies

Publication Date: 2025-04-01

Volume: 13

Issue: 4

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

This study examines how economic growth, travel, global connection, and changes in population impact the environmental footprint in seven countries, including Russia, the US, China, France, the UK, Pakistan, and India, from 1995 to 2023. The results show a significant link between Granger’s environmental impact and some economic, non-economic, and population factors in these countries. According to the study, environmental impacts result primarily from economic expansion and tourism revenue generation. The essential activities in economic development frequently result in significant ecological deficits through natural resource depletion, land alterations, and environmental releases. Business enlargement and tourism income commonly bring about deforestation while causing both pollution and habitat damage, thus showing why sustainable practices must exist to protect nature during economic development. We also have to consider factors other than economics, such as total income from natural resources and using nuclear power early. Additionally, how many people live in a particular area and the number of children born contribute to these footprints. Also, this study shows how economic, non-economic and demographic issues can indicate what harm the environment might face later. This is especially important in countries that use nuclear energy extensively. The report suggests different ways to solve this problem. These include advocating for sustainable tourism practices, directing research efforts towards nuclear energy, supporting renewable energy initiatives, promoting family planning and education, and raising public awareness. The aim is to reduce the environmental harm caused by nuclear energy and promote a more sustainable future.

Exploring the role of green organizational culture in enhancing sustainable logistics performance among manufacturing SMEs in a developing economy

Publication Name: Discover Sustainability

Publication Date: 2025-12-01

Volume: 6

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) report, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are responsible for approximately 64 percent of the total industrial environmental pollution worldwide. This is mainly a dangerous concern for developing countries. This study aims to determine the impact of green organizational culture on the sustainable logistics performance of SME manufacturing in Pakistan, with the mediating role of a big data-driven supply chain and green transformational leadership. Furthermore, employee age and work experience are control variables to measure sustainable logistics performance. The hypotheses were formulated using the resource-based view (RBV) and the theory of transformational leadership. To test the proposed hypothesis, primary data were gathered from 370 employees of SME manufacturing in Pakistan. A survey method was adopted, and the concerned firm’s HR department requested data collection. Data was collected and analyzed with the help of confirmatory analysis and structural equation modeling in SmartPLS version 3. The findings revealed the direct effect of green organizational culture (GOC), big data-driven supply chain (BDDSC), green transformational leadership (GTL), and work experience on sustainable logistics performance (SLP). However, the direct effect of employee age does not impact the sustainable logistics performance of SME manufacturing in Pakistan. Moreover, a partial mediation effect was confirmed, indicating a BDDSC and GTL between GOC and SLP in SME manufacturing in Pakistan. Furthermore, the study extends the current theoretical framework by integrating transformational leadership theory into the process of integration from the resource-based view (RBV) perspective. In this light, the current research is relevant to green transformational leadership, as the mediating link appeals to the leadership behaviour that determines the association between GOC and SLP. A theoretical resource-based view incorporating leadership theories provides a broader framework to explain organizational resources, leadership, and sustainable outcomes that are likely to occur in organizations.

Volume: 38

Issue: 6

Page Range: 30-54

Description:

Sustainability has become a strategic imperative for manufacturing SMEs amid increasing environmental regulations and stakeholder expectations. However, existing research offers limited insights into how digital financial innovations, particularly FinTech, contribute to sustainability performance in resource-constrained SMEs contexts. Addressing this gap, the present study investigates the impact of FinTech adoption (FA) on the sustainability performance (SP) of manufacturing SMEs, while exploring the mediating roles of organisational innovation (OI) and green finance (GF). Grounded in the resource-based view (RBV), the study develops a conceptual framework linking digital capabilities with sustainable outcomes. A quantitative research design was employed, and survey data were collected from 340 manufacturing SMEs in Pakistan. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test hypothesised relationships. The results demonstrate that FA significantly improves sustainable performance both directly and indirectly through OI and GF. Furthermore, FA also mediates the relationship between GF and SP, emphasising its role in operationalising sustainable financial flows. This study provides empirical evidence that FA, when strategically integrated with innovation and financial mechanisms, acts as a transformative enabler of sustainability in SMEs. It contributes to theory by extending the RBV to include digital and green financial resources as dynamic capabilities for achieving environmental goals.

Explaining the variation in sustainable development through the lens of key macroeconomic and environmental factors

Publication Name: Discover Sustainability

Publication Date: 2026-12-01

Volume: 7

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

This paper investigates the role ofenvironmental and macroeconomic stabilityin achieving sustainable developmentin Pakistan from 1990 to 2022.The objective of this study is to investigate the contagion effects of both ecological and macroeconomic variables on Pakistan's sustainable development, employing the structural VAR methodology. The research addresses an important gap in the literature to jointly analyze macroeconomic stability and environmental sustainability within a unified framework for a developing economy like Pakistan. The need for this study arises from Pakistan’s dual challenges of persistent macroeconomic instability and rising environmental stress, which together threaten progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Positive energy shocks are strongerth annegative shocks arising from CO2, external debt, and inflationin explicating variation inPakistan’s sustainable development. The study finds that renewable energy consumption has the most significant long-term impact on sustainable development, accounting for 33.83% of the forecast error variance. Overall, 55.50% of sustainable development is predicted by environmental factors,14.66% by macroeconomic variables, and 29.84% by its shock. Such results lead to accepting the hypothesis that ecological and macroeconomic stability significantly affect the sustainable development of Pakistan. In the long run, renewable energy consumption has a positive impact on sustainable development, promoting energy security, supporting economic growth, and maintaining environmental stability. The results of diagnostic tests suggest that the structural VAR approach is specified correctly. This study recommends that all economic policies be designed to highlight the need for comprehensive reforms that align economic stability with environmental resilience to achieve sustainable development. In the context of Pakistan, positive shocks arising from renewable energy consumption demonstrate a stronger influence on variations in sustainable development compared to negative shocks arising from CO₂ emissions, external debt, and inflation. This highlights the central role of energy transitions in achieving sustainability.

The nexus between environmental diplomacy, policy stringency and renewable energy in advancing sustainability management across G20 countries

Publication Name: Discover Environment

Publication Date: 2026-12-01

Volume: 4

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The growing pace of environmental crisis around the world has aggravated the necessity of more vigorous environmental diplomacy and stringency in policy to develop renewable energy and promote sustainable growth in leading economies. This research study examines the relationship between financial globalization (FG), environmental diplomacy (ED), economic growth (GDP), environmental policy stringency (EPS), urbanization (URB), and renewable energy (RE) and ecological sustainability in G20 countries between 1995 and 2023. Based on the CS-ARDL, FMOLS, and DOLS tests, we use the Load Capacity Factor (LCF) as a holistic sustainability measure and analyze the short- as well as longer-term dynamics. Prolonged outcomes reveal that FG, ED, GDP, and URB adversely affect LCF, which suggests an increase in ecological stress. Nonetheless, RE enhances LCF and EPS moderates the negative consequences of globalization. The positive effect of ED is small in the short-run, whereas EPS will have a high contribution to ecological benefits. The ED-GDP relation indicates a long-term worsening of the environment, which underscores the inefficiencies of diplomatic enforcement. These results confirm the modulating effect of stringent environmental policies and the necessity to develop policy frameworks that would harmonize economic integration and sustainability. Urbanization is a threat to the environment unless controlled with sustainable planning, and renewable energy continues to be a major contributor to ecological health in the long run. The study provides practical recommendations to policymakers to incorporate strict regulation, green investment and environmental diplomacy in the strategies of sustainable development.

Computational thinking and self-leadership as predictor of innovative work behavior among employees in green product firms : An explanatory sequential mixed method

Publication Name: Acta Psychologica

Publication Date: 2026-07-01

Volume: 267

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

This study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-method design to investigate the factors influencing innovative work behavior in green product firms in Pakistan. Guided by social cognitive theory, data from 278 employees were analyzed using structural equation modeling in AMOS, followed by qualitative interviews to further explain and contextualize the quantitative findings. The findings showed that computational thinking (β = 0.62, p < 0.001) and self‑leadership (β = 0.56, p < 0.001) have a significant positive association with creative self-efficacy. Additionally, creative self-efficacy has a significant direct positive influence on innovative work behavior (β = 0.76, p < 0.001). The mediation analysis confirmed that creative self-efficacy significantly mediated the relationship between computational thinking and innovative work behavior (indirect β = 0.29) and between self‑leadership and innovative work behavior (indirect β = 0.26). Notably, knowledge sharing significantly moderated the relationship between creative self-efficacy and innovative work behavior (β = 0.32, p < 0.001) strengthening the effect of creative self-belief on innovative. Eighteen (n = 18) interviews were conducted to gain insight into how these mechanisms worked. During the thematic analysis, results revealed that knowledge sharing weakens negative effect of hierarchical constraints, enabling employees to act on their creative self-efficacy. Computational thinking is associated with a language of credibility for innovative ideas, while self‑leadership is associated with a necessary internal motivation against bureaucratic fatigue. These findings are relevant for green product firms operating in high power distance, resource-constrained contexts such as Pakistan.
