Description:

The new generation of virtualization is containerization. In this paper we measured the most common container techniques to determinate the performance of these techniques regarding computing power and network performance with industry standard measurement applications. We used these measurement results to compare them with native performance without any container techniques and with the Linux standard virtualization KVM performance. For the first time, this paper also measures the performance of the Singularity container system, which is a new approach of HPC systems container usage.

The ectoparasitic burden and prevention of some huntable cloven hoofed animals

This review is an attempt to show the worldwide ectoparasitic burden in deer and antilopes with the aid of some case samples. Animals kept in zoos, lodges/ breeding farms and also in the wild, can considerable suffer and die under the burdens of parasites. The environment plays at this certainly an important role, too. Grooming and mutulism (a symbiotic relationship between two species of organism where both organism benefit from the association), vegetation and climate are only some of these factors. Not least, it should be also mentioned, that certain diseases, which can be transferred by parasites, can not only have intraspecific, but also extraspecific transmission possibilities.

Integrated Analysis and Assessment of the Hungarian Regions in Terms of Health Problems and Waste Management Challenges caused by Asbestos

Nowadays, more information is available regarding the health problems and waste management challenges caused by asbestos, and the research directions that focus on alternative agents, transport processes and mobilization routes of asbestos have gained ground. Only in recent years has the published research on the subject begun to deal more intensively with the development of evaluation methods that would ensure the consistent numerical qualification of individual territorial units. This paper examines the exposure of certain regions of Hungary along the lines of asbestos-related waste management and health aspects. After that, the individual relationships were identified and explored based on the specific patterns of the formed groups. The methodology of this paper is the calculation of an internationally applied integral index, the advantage of which is that it enables the comparison of numerical values with different dimensions. The focus of research is not the development of a new scientific methodology, but rather an exploration of the situation and regional comparability of asbestos exposure that is much more multidisciplinary, complex and multidimensional than the previous viewpoints. The value of the calculated integral index was 0.310±0.155 in 2005, while 0.339±0.170 in 2020. The rate of change in the value of the asbestos involvement and exposure integral index shows an increase of +28.5 % between 2005 and 2020. Based on the results, there are significant differences between the individual regions of Hungary along the values of the calculated multidimensional integral indices.

INVESTIGATION OF THE GLUED INSULATED RAIL JOINTS APPLIED TO CWR TRACKS

This article summarizes the research results related to our own conducted extensive laboratory tests of polymer composite and steel fishplated glued insulated rail joints (GIRJs), namely axial tensile tests as well as vertical static and dynamic tests. The investigation dealt with the examination of GIRJs assembled with steel and special glass-fiber reinforced plastic (polymer composite) fishplates, both of them for CWR railway tracks (i.e. so-called gapless tracks or, in other words, railway tracks with continuously welded rails). The exact rail joint types were MTH-P and MTH-AP, consistently. The MTH P types have been commonly applied for many years in the CWR tracks in Europe, mainly in Hungary. The MTH-AP rail joints consist of fishplates that are produced by the APATECH factory (Russia). They are made of a fiberglass-amplified polymer composite material at high pressure and controlled temperature. This solution can eliminate electrical fishplate lock and early fatigue failures just as it can ensure adequate electrical insulation. The advantage of such rail joints can be that they are probably able to ensure the substitution of the glued insulated rail joints with relatively expensive steel fishplates currently applied by railway companies, e.g. Hungarian State Railways (MÁV). The aim of the mentioned research summarized in this paper is to formulate recommendations on technical applicability and on the technological instructions that are useful in everyday railway operation practice on the basis of the measurements and tests carried out on rail joints in laboratory.

Environmental effects, population genetic parameters, breeding value, phenotypic and genetic trend for age at first calving of limousin cows

Some environmental effects, population genetic parameters, breeding value of Limousin breeding bulls, also phenotypic and genetic trends in the age at first calving (AFC) of cows between 1992 and 2013 were estimated. Data were served by the Limousin and Blonde d’Aquitaine Breeders Association, in Hungary. The study was extended to three herds and 1157 cows. GLM method was used for the study of different effects, the BLUP animal model for estimation of population genetic parameters and breeding values (BV), and one-way linear regression analysis for trend calculations. The overall mean value of the AFC was estimated to be 34.7±0.4 months. The contribution of the evaluated factors to the phenotype was as follows: herd 73.51%, birth year of cow 13.02%, sire 6.74%, birth season of cow 1.62%. The heritability of AFC proved to be low (h2 = 0.08±0.07 and h2 = 0.01±0.04). There were relatively small differences in the estimated BV of the studied sires for the AFC. Based on the phenotypic trend calculation, the AFC of cows decreased by an average of 0.33 months per year, however no significant change was found in the genetic trend during the study period.

Molecular dynamics simulation of carbon nanostructures: The D5h C70 fullerene

Molecular dynamics calculations can reveal the physical and chemical properties of various carbon nanostructures or can help to devise the possible formation pathways. In our days the most well known carbon nanostructures are the fullerenes and the nanotubes. They can be thought of as being formed from graphene sheets, i.e. single layers of carbon atoms arranged in a honeycomb lattice. Usually the nature does not follow the mathematical constructions. An ideal nanotube can be thought of as a hexagonal network of carbon atoms that has been rolled up to make a cylinder. There is not any theory of carbon nanotube formation which is based on this construction. Although the first time the C60 and C70 were constructed by laser irradiated graphite, the fullerene formation theories are based on various fragments of carbon chains, and networks of pentagonal and hexagonal rings. In the present article different initial patterns will be given for the formation of the C70 fullerene with D5h symmetry. The desired final structures are obtained in tight-binding molecular dynamics calculations. © 2013 Published by Elsevier B.V.

A Long Short-Term Memory-Based Deep Learning Digital Twin of a Li-Ion Cell for Battery SOC Estimation †

This study aims to implement the digital twin of a Li-ion battery by using real measurement data and to create a deep learning-based SOC (state of charge) estimation solution. In the case of the SOC estimator, a special type of deep learning, so-called long short-term memory (LSTM), was used to increase the capabilities of the estimator. The digital twin and the SOC estimator were created by using MATLAB and MATLAB/Simulink. As a result, the implemented system can accurately simulate the non-linearities of the Li-ion battery and provide a satisfactory estimation of the SOC of the battery.

Optimization of damping pad distribution on body-in-white car structure

Structure-born noise is one of the most important contributors to the interior noise in a vehicle cabin. This can be effectively reduced by placing damping pads with special material properties along the chassis and on the large, radiating panels. This paper proposes a new methodology for the optimization of placing these pads as a part of a full vehicle acoustic simulation in Actran Virtual SEA. With this new strategy, it was possible to reduce the among of damping pads on a real car structure by 33 % while keeping the same acoustic performance. This was validated by investigating the mean velocity of the floor panel in two load cases and compared to the original damping pad layout to the optimized one.
