DIGGING UP RURAL COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM (CBT) IN DEVELOPING COUNTRY, INDONESIA’S FRAMEWORK FINDING

Publication Name: Geojournal of Tourism and Geosites

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 61

Issue: 3

Page Range: 1420-1429

Description:

To effectively support new rural CBTs and create development plans, it is necessary to have a broad understanding of rural CBT in developing countries. This study uses Indonesia as a case study to map and analyze patterns in earlier research in order to establish a conceptual framework. The study used a qualitative content analysis methodology to find important themes and trends in Indonesia's rural CBT development by examining journal papers indexed by Scopus that were referenced by other researchers. By charting these academic works, the researchers were able to get a wider view and identify potential problems in the sector. The analysis identified five interconnected dimensions - spatial aspects, local attractions, rural capacity, economic viability, and socio-cultural components - that form the foundation of rural CBT. These dimensions are critical in building a comprehensive framework that guides development planning, stakeholder collaboration, and long-term sustainability. Findings emphasize the importance of aligning rural CBT development with the principles of the circular economy, which promote environmental stewardship, community empowerment, and sustainable resource management. The study also highlights how preserving social capital, fostering inclusiveness, and enhancing local welfare are long-term goals achievable through strategic mapping, capacity building, and equitable profit distribution. The study also emphasizes how important social media and digital platforms are in influencing public perceptions and interest in rural tourism, which has aided in the quick ascent of rural CBT organizations throughout Indonesia. It becomes clear that community involvement and government assistance are essential to turning rural regions into sustainable travel destinations. Nonetheless, it is necessary to address enduring issues including environmental degradation, human resource problems, and infrastructure constraints. Ultimately, the study offers a rural CBT framework that can assist policymakers, tourism planners, and local stakeholders in making context-sensitive decisions. By integrating socio-spatial understanding, participatory planning, and capacity-focused strategies, stakeholders can create more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable tourism systems. This framework not only supports local livelihoods but also aligns with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), offering a replicable model for other developing countries seeking to implement rural CBT initiatives effectively.

Humane-oriented CSR on social media: The roles of other-praising emotions and social justice values

Publication Name: Journal of International Studies

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 18

Issue: 3

Page Range: 46-67

Description:

Despite their potential to enhance CSR communication effectiveness, research on customer responses to humane-oriented CSR appeals on social media remains limited. In particular, little attention has been paid to the role of otherpraising emotions-gratitude, elevation, admiration, and awe-in shaping the impact of online humane CSR initiatives. Thus, this paper aims to investigate how humane orientation in CSR posts predicts other-praising emotions and how these emotions mediate the relationship between CSR and customer behavioral intentions, including purchasing and social media engagement. Moreover, the moderating roles of social justice values and self-construal are examined. Data were collected via survey from Jordanian Facebook users and analyzed using moderation and mediation techniques. Results revealed that humane orientation positively affected other-praising emotions, which mediated the relationship between humane CSR and consumer behavior. Social justice values moderated emotional responses to CSR, while self-construal had no significant moderation effect on the emotion–behavior links. Addressing gaps in CSR communication literature, these findings emphasize the importance of humane CSR and moral emotions in driving successful CSR discourse on social media. They also provide practical insights to help firms select and communicate CSR practices that effectively achieve their business goals.

Impact of Big Four Audit Firms on Environmental Disclosure in China: Critical Role of Governance and Ownership Structure

Publication Name: Politicka Ekonomie

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 73

Issue: 5

Page Range: 810-838

Description:

As the corporate world has recently been increasingly held accountable for its non-green behaviour, corporate environmental disclosures (CED) are crucial in informing the relevant stakeholders. Among the factors influencing CED, firm auditors play a pivotal role. Our research investigates the impact of Big Four audit firms on corporate environmental disclosure in China. With unique institutional factors and the most significant carbon emissions globally, China provides an exciting and compelling ground for studying this relationship. For this purpose, we use annual firm-level data of A-listed shares on the Shenzhen and Shanghai stock exchanges and employ the Poisson and negative binomial regression models for empirical analyses. Contrary to the common belief that Big Four audit firms lead to improved disclosure quality, we find that they negatively affect environmental disclosure in China. We also investigate the moderating role of corporate governance and ownership structure in this relationship. A high ratio of state ownership, male directors on the board and institutional investor holding worsen the disclosure quality. However, a high ratio of independent directors mitigates this issue. These findings open new avenues for further research and can guide future policy decisions regarding environmental disclosure in Chinese firms. The Big Four audit firms should be more stringent in their operations and supervise public firms regarding environmental disclosures.

Genetics of diabetes and its complications: a comprehensive review

Publication Name: Diabetology and Metabolic Syndrome

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 17

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Background Diabetes mellitus (DM) affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Genetic research plays a cru-cial role in managing diabetes by providing valuable insights into genetic predispositions, facilitating early diagno-sis, and enabling personalized treatment strategies. Identification of important genetic markers has paved the way for the creation of targeted therapies, enhancing treatment outcomes and promoting preventive care for both type 1 diabetes mellitus ( T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus ( T2DM). The aim of this study is to explore the role of different genes in the development of DM and its related complications. Methodology A comprehensive literature search was conducted from October 27 to November 14, 2024, to enlist articles related to genes involved in development of DM and its complications in search engines including PubMed, Medline, Google Scholar, and Scopus. We included original articles, case–control studies, cohort studies, review arti-cles, systematic review, and meta-analysis published between January 1, 2014, and November 14, 2024 in our study. Results In T1DM; research has historically concentrated on the role of HLA class II genes. However, recent studies have brought attention to the role of HLA class I genes in the disease’s development, suggesting a broader role of genetics than previously understood. CTLA4, IL2RA, and PTPN22, genes were also significantly linked to T1DM. In T2DM; TCF7L2 was found to be the most potent gene for its development among others genes such as LCAT, APOE, FTO. For gesta-tional diabetes mellitus (GDM), MTNR1B, CDKAL1, and IRS1 genes played an important role. Conclusion Genetics played an important role in the understanding of DM. Researchers have identified new genetic loci that can serve as diagnostic markers for DM and its associated compilations such as diabetic kidney disease (DKD), diabetic neuropathy (DN), diabetic retinopathy (DR) and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). TCF7L2 and HLA class II are the strongest risk factors for T2DM and T1DM, respectively. Understanding the genetics of DM and its complications is essential for improving early detection, enhancing treatment outcomes, and developing targeted therapies for DM patients.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC INTEGRATION OF MILITARY VETERANS IN UKRAINE: PUBLIC PERCEPTIONS AND POLICY CHALLENGES

Publication Name: Problems and Perspectives in Management

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 23

Issue: 4

Page Range: 232-246

Description:

Military veterans constitute a distinct social group whose socio-economic integration is becoming increasingly urgent due to the growing number of veterans, which today approaches one million individuals. The aim of this study is to assess the problems related to the socio-economic integration of military veterans and to explore potential solutions, taking into account public perceptions and the population’s readiness to support veterans. In 2024 a sociological survey targeted 516 veterans and 850 members of the general population in Ukraine. Data were processed using IBM SPSS Statistics (version 20). The findings indicate that, despite certain societal stereotypes, the relationship between these groups is predominantly positive. The mean population assessment of conflict in relations does not exceed 2.35 points (on a five-point scale), while veterans’ assessments do not exceed 2.75 points. Veterans’ relations with state authorities responsible for social guarantees are less favorable, with evaluations ranging from 2.46 to 3.24 points. The most prevalent form of support for veterans is the willingness to provide financial or material assistance (20.6% and 24.4% of respondents, respectively). There are promising conditions for encouraging support for veteran-led businesses: 7.8% of respondents indicated a preference for purchasing goods from such enterprises. Furthermore, 9.1% of respondents expressed support for the development of economic incentives for companies established by veterans or employing veterans. The results provide a basis for improving state programs for veteran integration, suggesting that traditional support measures may be significantly strengthened by policies aimed at increasing veterans’ active participation in economic life.

Determination of Natural Frequencies with Acoustic Methods and their Relation to Residual Stress

Publication Name: Advances in Science and Technology

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 165 AST

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 199-204

Description:

There are number of different methods and procedures in vibration analysis, where the natural frequencies of the specimen or the system are one of the key parameters. It is known that these frequencies can change under load, for example in response to pre-stressing, but the effect of residual stresses is less known. By developing a suitable method, natural frequencies can be used to predetermine residual stress, therefore this method can be used for example predicting whether it will cause deformation during machining of a part, whether it requires increased attention or how to set the parameters well for vibratory stress relief. The results can be significant cost and time savings, as well as the improvements of the quality. Natural frequency is the frequency of free vibration of an undamped linear vibration system, or in other words at which a system left alone will vibrate after excited by an external force [1]. Metal castings or welded structures may have several natural frequencies which appear as frequency bands or ranges on the measurement images. Based on these, to determine the natural frequency of a component or system, we need to excite a frequency as close as possible to the natural frequency for the resonance to occur. When the resonance is reached, the amplitude of the system is at its maximum, and the natural frequencies of the workpiece can be measured. Traditionally, sensors, usually accelerometers are used to measure the natural frequency. The continuous development of information technology has made it possible to replace these sensors with an acoustic diagnostic system. During this research, we have developed an acoustic diagnostic system and procedure, which can generate the acoustic measurement images. We have evaluated the measurement images in many ways, and many different types of components and materials (mostly iron alloys) were analyzed. In addition, the changes of natural frequencies show a similar pattern in the case of parts before treating with vibratory stress relief as for load tests.

Does Mineral Resources Utilization and Governance Policy Induce Income Inequality: Contextual Findings from Historical Data of China

Publication Name: Politicka Ekonomie

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: 73

Issue: 5

Page Range: 891-925

Description:

In the current literature strand, most of the literature is devoted to the role played by mineral and governance policies in environmental quality. However, their criticality in income inequality is mainly overlooked by scholarly works. This research investigated the nexus of mineral and governance policies with income inequality while exploring the importance of per capita income, health expenditure, and poverty. Covering the extended period from 1984Q1 to 20223Q4 in the case of China, this research confirms the presence of long-run equilibrium association between variables. Due to the non-normal data distribution, this research uses quantile regression and a series of robust non-parametric and parametric approaches. The research concludes that mineral resources, health expenditure, governance efficiency, regulatory quality, and poverty headcounts significantly reduce income inequality. Wealth from mineral and health expenditures substantially improves the living standards of the general public. The governance policies are also beneficial in equal wealth distribution of the country. On the contrary, per capita income and government stability are the region’s leading factors of income inequality. Based on the predicted results, this research recommends improved minerals management, strengthening of governance institutions and policies, and enhancement in health expenditure to tackle the issue of income inequality.

Demagnetization Fault Detection and Fault-Tolerant Control for PMa-SynRM Drive Using EKF-Based Permanent Magnet Flux Linkage Estimator

Publication Name: 2025 19th International Conference on Electrical Machines Drives and Power Systems Elma 2025 Proceedings

Publication Date: 2025-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Demagnetization faults in permanent magnetassisted synchronous reluctance motors (PMa-SynRMs) can lead to deterioration in the control performance of the drives, if the implemented PM flux linkage parameter is different from the actual value. To increase the robustness against demagnetization faults, a novel fault-tolerant control method is developed for PMa-SynRM drives. In the proposed method, an extended Kalman filter is used for online estimation of the PM flux linkage, which is tuned adaptively in the control algorithm, including the maximum torque per ampere strategy. The effectiveness of the proposed demagnetization fault-tolerant control technique is demonstrated by numerical simulations.
