Evaluation of E-teaching Implementation in Iraqi Universities

The education process, which includes teachers and students, as well as the teaching environment in general, has drawn the attention of the education process due to desirable characteristics such as the educational function, which is distinguished by evolution in its performance methods, scalability, coherence, cost savings, and efficiency. Over the last several decades, e-teaching has varied from the traditional education style, where teachers encounter many difficulties while implementing the traditional education style. Researchers have arrived at conclusions regarding the variables that influence teachers’ acceptance of e-teaching by asking respondents to fill out questionnaires, conduct interviews, collect relevant information, and analyze the data obtained. In addition, colleges and universities have been searching for innovative ways to make education readily available to learners and make teaching easier for teachers. Despite the great importance of e-teaching in Iraq to support higher education and human development in contemporary ways, the implementation of e-teaching resists multiple challenges in Iraq. The proposed work can summarize these challenges as the few lecturers and trainers who provide training courses in preparing electronic lectures, information and communications technology infrastructure, electronic lectures and educational materials, tutors, and technical expertise. This paper aimed to identify factors determining the effect of activating e-teaching in Iraq. The research will elaborate on the concept of e-teaching in Iraq and discuss its importance and impacts with significant emphasis on Iraq. The current work concludes that e-teaching in Iraq has made meaningful progress in three universities.

To make machines emotionally more intelligent, it is necessary to choose the right measuring devices that are able to collect physiological biosignals, which can be used to recognize the emotional state of the user. These devices should not restrict the users in their everyday life, therefore commercial, non-invasive Internet of Things (IoT) devices must be used. Thanks to the interoperability of IoT devices, it is possible to send the obtained data to a server, where it can be used in the predict method of a trained machine learning algorithm. Based on the recognized emotion, it is possible to create different instructions for smart home elements.

Sustainable Eating Habits: Examining Beliefs, Attitudes, and Perceptions of Plant-Based Diets among Hungarians

An important current trend is the healthy and sustainable lifestyle and consumption of fruits and vegetables. However, the healthiness of plant-based diets is not well understood by the general population or food professionals, and only a small proportion of the Hungarian population (1.1 %) follows a vegetarian diet because of sociocultural reasons (attachment to meat). This paper explores the main knowledge, beliefs, and misconceptions about plant-based diets (PBDs) among Hungarians. Behavioral change towards a more plant-based diet is slow and influenced by attitudes. In an online survey (n=397), four different factors related to beliefs about PBDs could be distinguished: (1) health and environmental issues, (2) lack of nutrients, (3) forbidden foods 1, and (4) forbidden foods. People are aware of the different types of plant-based diets (vegetarian, vegan) and the positive and negative psychological effects. The associations of plant-based diets are: healthy, environmentally friendly, and expensive. However, only a small part of the Hungarian population follows a plant-based diet, while the diverse and daily consumption of fruits and vegetables is essential for health and sustainability reasons. This study has the potential to provide a comprehensive review of the current state of knowledge regarding plant-based diets, which is essential for tailoring educational initiatives, formulating effective interventions, and ultimately advocating for healthier and more sustainable dietary preferences.

Developments in healthcare usually directly target innovations in intervention techniques and medical devices for diagnosis, analysis and treatment. On the other hand, digital development in administration, handling and accessing (sensitive) patient data or real-time availability of information also contribute to improvement of management. The CoVid situation highlighted emerging technologies that covers both, and blurs the border between, management (i.e., cost reduction) and actual treatment. The newly introduced 5G New Radio wireless technology and the expansion of virtual, augmented and mixed reality applications not only assist medical personnel during treatment, but can increase safety, availability and sustainability of services, and at the same time, can reduce costs. This paper briefly introduces benefits of these technologies focusing on state-of-the-art use cases.

On the Impact of Packet Reordering in MPT-GRE Multipath Networks

Several factors, such as network delays, congestion, differing path lengths, and varied processing durations at intermediary nodes, can cause out-of-order arrival of the packets, negatively affecting network performance, decreasing throughput, and increasing latency. When packets arrive out of order, the receiver may need to wait for missing packets before assembling a complete message, resulting in additional delays. Furthermore, some applications, like music and video streaming, require continuous and ordered data flow. Any out-of-order arrival of packets can result in jitter and decreased quality. To mitigate the impact of this issue in MPT-GRE multipath networks, MPT contains a packet reordering mechanism. In this paper, we designed a network topology that generated delays and limited the transmission speed on one of the paths. We investigated how the out-of-order arrival of packets influences the throughput aggregation capability of the MPT library with and without enabling the packet reordering feature of MPT. Our network throughput measurements show that by enabling MPT's packet reordering mechanism, MPT can efficiently aggregate the throughput of both symmetric and asymmetric channels.

Gene Expression of Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor γ in Mangalica and Large White Pigs

The expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ gene (PPARγ) – a major regulator of adipogenesis and intramuscular fat deposition in pigs – was analysed in different tissues of Blonde Mangalica (M) and Hungarian Large White (LW) by means of quantitative reverse transcription PCR. In total, 20 experimental animals were raised and fed under identical conditions, and transported to the abattoir at similar body weight (124.7±10.3 kg; p>0.05). In both breeds highest PPARγ expression was observed in backfat (p<0.001), whereas lower levels were measured in muscle samples. The PPARγ mRNA levels in loin (m. longissimus dorsi) and semimembranosus muscle samples did not differ (p>0.05). Elevated PPARγ expression was observed in M backfat compared to LW (p<0.05). Loin and semimembranosus muscle samples of M showed higher PPARγ mRNA levels than LW (P<0.001), as well. Loin muscle marbling scores significantly correlated with β-actin normalized PPARγ expression (r=0.63; p<0.001) indicating the involvement of PPARγ in the regulation of intramuscular fat development. In conclusion, the differential expression of PPARγ in backfat and muscle samples can contribute to the remarkable differences in the constitution and intramuscular fat accumulation of fat-type M and lean-type commercial LW. Muscle PPARγ mRNA levels may be used as an indicator of marbling characteristics in pigs.

Social Sustainability Analysis in Szigetköz: A Study of Four Case Locations

This paper is based on research that examined civil and community life in 34 settlements of Szigetköz in 2021 and 2022. A total of 337 NGOs and countless informal groups operate in the region. The examination is based on questionnaire research (43 fillings), interviews (25 pieces), observations (9 times) and document analysis, and one of the results is four case studies about four settlements (Dunasziget, Kimle, Mecsér and Győrladamér). The goal of this paper is to summarize the knowledge related to social sustainability and analyze its operation in these settlements. The principal finding of the research is that the four settlements coped with the challenges posed by their geographical location, economic situation and infrastructural capabilities in four ways. These roads show creative solutions using local resources, which are the key to the social sustainability of settlements.

Validation of finite element connection modeling by comparison of experimental and virtual power injection methods

There are several ways to obtain the matrix of damping loss factors and coupling loss factors for Statistical Energy Analysis. The most recent approach is Virtual SEA, where the Power Injection Method is performed virtually on a finite element model. In order to validate this approach, the most common connection types are investigated in this paper through an L-junction of two coupled steel plates. Virtual SEA and experimental Power Injection Method results are compared in a bent, line welded, superglued and spotwelded variants. The respective finite element connection representation is also validated during the comparison. It was found that with the correct simulation setup, Virtual SEA provides good agreement with the experimental results. In case of the spotwelded variants, further investigations were necessary regarding the parameters of the connection. The influence of these parameters was evaluated and the greatest source of deviations in the results is found.
