A discrete bacterial memetic evolutionary algorithm for the traveling salesman problem

Publication Name: 2016 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation CEC 2016

Publication Date: 2016-11-14

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 3261-3267

Description:

This paper presents a Discrete Bacterial Memetic Evolutionary Algorithm (DBMEA) for the Traveling Salesman Problem. This algorithm combines the very efficient bacterial evolutionary algorithm with 2-opt and 3-opt local searches. Our approach was tested on TSPLIB and other VLSI benchmark problems. In this paper our computational results (minimal tour lengths, run times) are compared with other efficient TSP solver algorithms (Lin-Kernighan, Concorde). We will show that in significant number of the published benchmark problems the optimal tour was not found by the Concorde algorithm and the Lin-Kernighan heuristic because this approaches use an approximation substituting distances of points by the closest integer values. We suggest the substitution of the benchmark result set by the real optima calculated by the new DBMEA algorithm and the use of DBMEA heuristic as more precise for the solution of TSP and other NP-hard optimization problems.

On the sensitivity of type-2 fuzzy signatures and the generalizations of the extension principle

Publication Name: 2016 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems Fuzz IEEE 2016

Publication Date: 2016-11-07

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 1301-1307

Description:

When the exact mathematical model is not known or too difficult to handle, fuzzy signatures are useful tools in modeling and analysis of complex systems. In these cases the input values naturally have uncertainties, due to lack of knowledge or human activities. These built-in uncertainties influence the final decision about the system. In this paper we deal with the issue when the input parameters are not crisp values, but nonnegative fuzzy numbers, so we discuss the sensitivity of type-2 fuzzy signatures which are equipped with the weighted general mean as aggregation operator. The uncertainty of the result depends on the applied extension of real function to fuzzy numbers, so we discuss the case of Zadeh's extension principle, t-norm based extension and joint possibility distribution based extension of real functions, too.

Volume: 81

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Our aim with this paper is to develop a new performance measurement and control system for small batch production in the automotive industry. For this reason, we present our previous research results for warehouse performance measurement and adopt its methodology to production control. The proposed method is based on artificial intelligence (neural networks).

Spectral analysis of suspension system of a commercial city bus

Publication Name: Sisy 2016 IEEE 14th International Symposium on Intelligent Systems and Informatics Proceedings

Publication Date: 2016-10-19

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 67-72

Description:

There is an ever increasing demand for intelligent and efficient urban vehicle systems that fulfill several requirements, e.g., low cost maintainability and high passenger comfort. Concerning these goals reliable methods are needed to model and to evaluate the imposed performances. In this paper a spectral analysis of the suspension system of a commercial city bus is presented. Based on experimental data taken on a city bus, the vibrations emerging on the wheels and the body are analyzed in the frequency domain. The goal of the analysis is to characterize the main eigenfrequencies of the suspension system and its damping in amplitude and also to evaluate both the road and the suspension system in terms of passenger comfort according to ISO standards.

A great potential for using mesh networks in indoor navigation

Publication Name: Sisy 2016 IEEE 14th International Symposium on Intelligent Systems and Informatics Proceedings

Publication Date: 2016-10-19

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 187-192

Description:

Navigation has always been important to people. Thus, it is hard to succeed in navigation without Global Positioning System. Although, Global Positioning System can be efficiently used in outdoor environments the indoor navigation is still in its infancy. Nevertheless, the indoor navigation is one of many open challenges in the 21st century that affects to the major technological advances. However, several indoor positioning solutions have been built over the last decade, but they are still neither accurate enough nor inexpensive for consumer use. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel suggestion that should have a great potential for applying mesh technology in the indoor navigation systems in order to improve the accuracy and the computational capabilities of devices.

An in-depth analysis of cycling and pedestrian accidents in Hungary

Publication Name: Mesa 2016 12th IEEE ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications Conference Proceedings

Publication Date: 2016-10-07

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The National Committee for Accident Prevention (OBB) of the National Police Headquarters of Hungary (ORFK) has ordered an analytical research on accidents involving cyclists and pedestrians in 2013-14. The Department of Automotive and Railway Engineering at Széchenyi István University Gyor has carried out an evaluative and analytical study on this issue and has made proposals based on the results of the study. Within the framework of this project, it has also set out actions aiming to increase road safety. The following study gives an insight into this analysis.

Investigating the appliance of aluminum as a winding material with high efficiency electric motor

Publication Name: Mesa 2016 12th IEEE ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications Conference Proceedings

Publication Date: 2016-10-07

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Nowadays the driveline development of public and individual transport is very significant. More and more hybrid and full electric urban vehicle can be found on city roads. The application of electric drive increases in public transport as well. This tendency is shown in Europe, but it also can be observed in America and Asia. The figures show that the electric application tends to increase in the following years and decades. Copper is solely usable as the winding material at the motors of full electric or hybrid driven vehicles. Based on predictions, the copper resources are running down, which means that the price of copper will greatly increase in a very short time, or these resources can be totally exhausted in an extreme situation. In this article, I investigate the applications of other metals but mainly of aluminium, which could provide solutions to the replacement of copper.

Complex analysis of vehicle and environment dynamics

Publication Name: Mesa 2016 12th IEEE ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications Conference Proceedings

Publication Date: 2016-10-07

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

This paper introduces mathematical modelling, the development of diagnostic methods and the design of producing a prototype. Its aim is to establish a new, accredited research laboratory for the testing and quality assurance of hybrid and electric driven vehicles. The task is very complex and it puts special emphasis on environmental and safety issues. It highlights the fact that its application under laboratory conditions establishes a new situation for measurement. It points out that the complex research which develops diagnostic techniques and procedures related to real operation and urban environment, moreover, applies optimal planning methods still has novelty.

Lithium beam diagnostic system on the COMPASS tokamak

Publication Name: Fusion Engineering and Design

Publication Date: 2016-10-01

Volume: 108

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 1-6

Description:

An improved lithium beam based beam emission spectroscopy system - installed on COMPASS tokamak - is described. The beam energy enhanced up to 120 keV for Atomic Beam Probe measurement. The size of the ion source is doubled, using a newly developed thermionic heater instead of the conventionally used heating (tungsten or molybdenum) filament. The neutralizer is also improved. It produces the same sodium vapor in a cell but minimize the loss condensing the vapor on a cold surface which is led back (in fluid state) into the sodium oven. This way we call it recirculating neutralizer. The observation system consists of a CCD camera and an avalanche photodiode array.
