In modern architecture concrete is increasingly used as a design feature as well as for its mechanical properties. Therefore, today's concrete architecture is characterized by various forms, textures and high surface quality. The exact determination of the surface quality requirements is crucial for being able to substantiate any deficiencies of the completed surface if necessary. According to the German, Austrian and Hungarian standards there are four concrete classes distinguished based on several aspects, such as porosity, discoloration, texture, etc. However, the standardized assessment methodologies for fair-faced concrete surfaces are mainly based on manual methods and several aspects can be evaluated only subjectively. The goal of the present study is to propose an objective method for the evaluation of the surface void ratio using photogrammetry and digital image processing techniques. The goal of the whole research is to develop an effective assessment method - taking all aspects into account - with which the overall evaluation and classification of the surfaces can be done automatically from one sampling. This method will lead to a quantitative, objective and therefore more reliable evaluation of the surface-quality of fair-faced concrete elements.

Consumers are thought to be rational in their choices. But sometimes their choices comprise intransitivi-ties. Current paper presents a mathematically supported experimental study of consumers' intransitivepreferences concerning product attributes. We used a personalized experimental design developed on thebasis of Q methodology to maintain subjectivity. In our experimental study we are investigating intran-sitivity occurring in participants' preferences during selection between simple, medium complex, andcomplex products. By the Q method we gain the same number of less important (middle level) attributedimensions for all participants. The participants' task is to make pairwise comparisons of preferencebetween specific realizations of each product group. Since conjoint analysis is based on the measu-rement and testing of consumer preferences, reassessment of the phenomenon may have impact onmarketing research methodology. This research is to test an experimental design which-with someadjustment-could be able to measure revealed preferences in a more precise way.

Fair-faced concrete elements have become even more popular in architecture because of their pure aesthetics and favourable material properties. The europian standards and guidelines are usually specifying four classes regarding to the surface quality. However, the strandard assessment methodologies are based only on manual methods and they are very subjective in some cases. In order to increase the efficiency and accuary of the evaluation a new methodology is proposed using digital image processing. In this paper the basis of the evaluation method made by using the Python 3.6 software is presented by focusing on the surface void ratio which is one of the most common surface defects of fair-faced concrete structures.

There is an ever increasing demand for intelligent and efficient urban vehicle systems that fulfill several requirements, e.g., low cost maintainability and high passenger comfort. Concerning these goals reliable methods are needed to model and to evaluate the imposed performances. In this paper a spectral analysis of the suspension system of a commercial city bus is presented. Based on experimental data taken on a city bus, the vibrations emerging on the wheels and the body are analyzed in the frequency domain. The goal of the analysis is to characterize the main eigenfrequencies of the suspension system and its damping in amplitude and also to evaluate both the road and the suspension system in terms of passenger comfort according to ISO standards.

Subject and purpose of the work:: This study explores the specifics of strengthening Central Asian regional cooperation and its potential opportunities according to Hungary's Eastern Opening Policy. Materials and methods:: A two-pronged approach was used to conduct this study, which included a comprehensive literature review of relevant academic publications on regional cooperation, as well as an examination of cooperation projects to identify specific characteristics. Results are explicated using descriptive methodology for the analysis. Results:: Central Asian regional integration differs from the traditional model, emphasising the importance of historical factors and the strengthening of Turkish ethnic identity as a foundation for unification efforts. Conclusions:: Foreign economic engagement in Central Asia requires a continuous and assertive presence, along with the development of mutual trust due to the region's unique historical, cultural and geopolitical context. These tendencies and intentions have been recognised by Hungarian foreign strategy - in line with the Eastern Opening Policy - with good sense and at a good pace.

Viral coat proteins decrease the gene silencing activity of cognate and heterologous viral suppressors

Plant viruses have evolved different viral suppressors of RNA silencing (VSRs) to counteract RNA silencing which is a small RNA-mediated sequence-specific RNA degradation mechanism. Previous studies have already shown that the coat protein (CP) of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) reduced RNA silencing suppression (RSS) activity of the VSR of CMV, the 2b protein. To demonstrate the universality of this CP-VSR interference, our study included three different viruses: CMV and peanut stunt virus (PSV) from the Bromoviridae, and plum pox virus (PPV) from the Potyviridae family. The RSS activity of the three VSRs (CMV 2b, PSV 2b, and PPV HC-Pro) was compared using Agrobacterium-mediated transient expression in Nicotiana benthamiana and the effect of CMV CP, PSV CP and PPV CP was validated on the RSS activity of their cognate and heterologous VSRs as well. Furthermore, the VSRs were also evaluated in PTGS suppressor-deficient CMV mutant (CMV NVE/10–12/AAA) virus-infected plants. The joint presence of CPs and VSRs resulted in decreased RSS activity in each combination, regardless of the origin of the two proteins, suggesting a universal role of the viral CPs in fine tuning of RSS. Interestingly the PSV CP elicited the strongest negative effect on the RSS activity of all three VSRs.

Numerical plastic analysis of non-prismatic reinforced concrete beams strengthened by carbon fiber reinforced polymers

The non-prismatic reinforced concrete (RC) beam considered a unique case in structural engineering as it has variable depth all over beam section and it doesn’t have sufficient information in structural codes, this can put structural engineers in a challenge to predict how this beam will react under specific types of loads or with different geometrical variables and strengthening existence. In this research, concrete plastic damage constitutive model developed and used to explore the shear strength of non-prismatic RC beam structure. Furthermore, in order to improve the shear strength of existent RC beams, Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) strips are attached to the surface of the critical sections. For this aim, initially numerical model was calibrated according to the data obtained from laboratory tests then a series of numerical simulations with different variables are carried out to investigate the shear behavior and these variables were: haunch angle α value and CFRP strips existence (composite status). The numerical results show that changing beams geometry (haunch angle α value) can have an influence over shear strength, in addition, using CFRP strips has an obvious effect on the failure behavior of the non-prismatic RC beam structure. Finite element simulations are executed by using ABAQUS.

In the field of logistics packaging, companies have to take decisions on determining the optimal packaging solutions and expenses. The decisions often involve a choice between one-way (disposable) and reusable (returnable) packaging solutions. Even nowadays, in most cases the decisions are made based on traditions and mainly consider the material and investment costs. Although cost is an important factor, it might not be sufficient for finding the optimal solution. Traditional (two-valued) logic is not suitable for modelling this problem, so here the application of a fuzzy approach, because of the metrical aspects, a fuzzy signature approach is considered. In this paper three different fuzzy signatures connected by fuzzy rules modelling the packaging decision are suggested, based on logistics expert opinions, in order to support the decision making process of choosing the right packaging system. Two real life examples are also given, one in the field of customer packaging and one in industrial packaging.

Quasi-Optimization of the Time Dependent Traveling Salesman Problem by Intuitionistic Fuzzy Model and Memetic Algorithm

The Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is an NP-hard graph search problem. Despite having numerous modifications of the original abstract problem, Time Dependent Traveling Salesman Problem (TD TSP) was one of the most realistic extensions under real traffic conditions. In TD TSP the edges between nodes are assigned higher costs (weights), if they were traveled during the rush hour periods, or crossed the traffic jam regions, such as the city center(s). In this paper we introduce an even more real-life motivated approach, the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Time Dependent Traveling Salesman Problem (IFTD TSP), which is a further extension of the TSP, and also of the classic TD TSP, with the additional notion of using intuitionistic fuzzy sets for the definition of uncertain costs, time, and space of the rush hour—traffic jam region affecting graph sections. In IFTD TSP we use fuzzy memberships and non-memberships sets for estimating the vague costs between nodes in order to quantify the behavior of traffic jam regions, and the rush hour periods. Since intuitionistic fuzzy sets are generalizations of classic fuzzy sets, our approach may be considered an extension and substitution of the original abstract TD TSP problem, even, of the (classic) Fuzzy TD TSP. Lastly, DBMEA (Discrete Bacterial Memetic Evolutionary Algorithm) was applied on the IFTD TSP model, the results of the simulation runs based on some extensions of the benchmarks generated from the original TD TSP data set showed quite good and promising preliminary results.
