Characteristics of community supported agriculture in the western transdanubia region

Both industrialization of agriculture and globalization of food trade have begun in the 20th century. Consumer habits have also undergone major changes in line with altered processes in the structure of food trade initiating merits as well as drawbacks. For instance, currently small-scale agriculture or local product supporting consumption is increasingly forced to play a marginal role all over the world. Small farmers are underrepresented in most traded venue, while production is shifting towards bigger market participants. Locally, this means that the volume of production, labour requirements and diversity of products will be reduced, consequently local characteristics will slowly disappear. As an essential requirement for such production the traditional knowledge will not be able to be passed down to forthcoming generations. As a result of a survey, a problem and an objective tree of community supported agriculture was created. These problem/target trees were constructed after an analysis of CSA through a scrutiny of several farmer's organization and individual consumers in the Western Transdanubia region of Hungary. Followed by the evaluation of data the most influential factor, the basic problem was determined, as a consequence of which the long-term, strategic objective in terms of the market power of CSA organizations has been set forth.

Investigating the Factors Influencing the Strength of Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) Sections

The utilization of cold-formed steel (CFS) sections in construction has become widespread due to their favorable attributes, including their lightweight properties, high strength, recyclability, and ease of assembly. To ensure their continued safe and efficient utilization, this review provides a comprehensive investigation into the factors influencing the strength of CFS members. This analysis encompasses design codes, prediction methodologies, material properties, and various structural configurations. This review uncovers discrepancies among existing design codes, particularly noting conservative predictions in AISI and AS/NZS standards for composite and built-up sections. Additionally, the effectiveness of prediction methods such as the direct strength method and effective width method varies based on specific structural configurations and loading conditions. Furthermore, this review delves into recent advancements aimed at enhancing fire resistance, connection design, and the composite behavior of CFS structures. The influence of factors such as eccentricity, sheathing materials, and bolt spacing on structural performance is also examined. This study underscores the crucial role of accurate prediction methods and robust design standards in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of CFS constructions. Through a comparative analysis, it is revealed that AISI and AS/NZS standards exhibit conservatism in predicting nominal buckling loads compared to experimental data. Conversely, a non-linear finite element analysis demonstrates a strong correlation with laboratory tests, offering a more accurate prediction of nominal buckling capacity. Overall, this review offers comprehensive insights aimed at optimizing CFS structural design practices. By identifying key areas for future research and development, this work contributes to the ongoing advancement of safe and efficient CFS construction applications.

The effect of soil physicochemical characteristics on zinc analysis methods

Zn is an essential micronutrient involved in a wide variety of physiological processes. Soils are tested for zinc in many countries with several extractants. Each country has its validated methods, best-suited for its soils. The current study was designed to compare different zinc content measuring methods with seventy-one samples from Hungary. The data were first compared for the whole dataset and then in certain categories such as CaCO3-content, pH, texture and clay content. The zinc content was determined by the water extraction, KCl-EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), Mehlich 3, CoHex (cobalt hexamine trichloride), and XRF (X-ray fluorescence) methods. Based on the analyses of all the data, we can conclude that all the methods are different. However, further analyses during the comparison of the methods based on the influencing factors, such as the pH, lime content, texture class, and clay content proved that, in some of the cases, there are similarities among the methods and, this way, we can get more knowledge on the measurements and the results provided. Farmers can gain extra knowledge from the comparison of the influencing factors to know where intervention is needed to use extra Zn for the proper fertilisation of their plants.

Phylogenetic analyses of Ixodes rugicollis with notes on its morphology in comparison with Ixodes cornutus

Background: The subgenus Pholeoixodes contains Ixodes species typically associated with birds that nest in cavities or with carnivorous mammals that are burrow-dwelling. Among ticks infesting the latter, Ixodes rugicollis is regarded as the rarest species in the western Palearctic. Despite the unique morphology of this species, its identification (especially of subadult stages) is difficult, and molecular-phylogenetic data to offer other diagnostic methods and a better understanding of its taxonomy are not available. Methods: In this study, a female and a male of I. rugicollis were collected in Romania. The female was compared morphologically to another female of this species collected in France and to the lectotype of Ixodes cornutus (from Tajikistan), which has similar morphology and host association. Following DNA extraction, two mitochondrial (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I: cox1 and the 16S rRNA gene) and two nuclear genetic markers (18S and 28S rRNA genes) of I. rugicollis were amplified and analyzed in a phylogenetic context. Results: Females of I. rugicollis and I. cornutus differed in the shape of their palps, scutum and areae porosae and the size of peritremes, but they were similar in palpal setal length, dental formula and arrangement of anal setae. Measurements of two I. rugicollis females examined were not less different from each other than from I. cornutus. Phylogenetically, I. rugicollis clustered with other members of its subgenus. The topology of all trees showed the position of bat-associated tick species of the subgenus Eschatocephalus among Pholeoixodes species. Conclusions: For the first time to our knowledge, this study provides high-resolution digital pictures of male and female I. rugicollis as well as corresponding molecular data. Morphological comparison of this species with I. cornutus could not resolve uncertainties in the validity of the latter species, which can only be accomplished after collecting new specimens of I. cornutus and consequent molecular comparisons. This study includes the first comprehensive molecular-phylogenetic analysis of western Palearctic Pholeoixodes species based on both nuclear and mitochondrial genetic markers and including I. rugicollis. The results of these confirm the phylogenetic position of subgenus Eschatocephalus within Pholeoixodes, justifying the need to merge them to comply with the taxonomic criterion of monophyly. One-at-a-Time sensitivity study of a tree burning simulation

The aim of the research was to carry out the One-at-a-Time sensitivity analysis of a tree burning experiment simulation with a novel fuzzy logic-based method. It was observed that the precent of the remaining tree is sensitive to the moisture content, the crown-base diameter and the tree height. The other variables, which are maximum mass loss rate, maximum heat release rate, and maximum temperature at the top of the tree are moderately sensitive or not sensitive to the selected parameters. The presented results can be used in sensitivity studies and wildfire simulations.

In the context of modern urban development, various socio-technical innovations have proliferated in response to urban challenges, offering well-defined solutions. Since the 1970s, the so-called ‚backseat generation’, a group of children whose parents drive them to school every day, has emerged in developed countries, particularly in urban areas. This phenomenon has many negative effects on children, the environment and urban spaces. The present study addresses the issue of urban transport management, in particular the issue of daily school transport. It aims to present, based on literature analysis, good international examples, such as the pedibus and the bicycle bus, which emphasise local values and resources in the light of the ‚slow city’ concept. The study concludes with a presentation and evaluation of the pilot programmes (Pedibus in Gödöllő and Bicibus in Pécs) that have also become established in Hungary in recent years. These programmes offer a supervised, safe, group-based solution for school children and their families to go to school, and build community between different generations.

At first we started with the investigation of the steering, which is a crucial area of the control of autonomous vehicles. As a part of the program, vehicle dynamical measurements were carried out on a Nissan Leaf electric vehicle equipped with a sensor system, furthermore we design a high-level trajectory-tracking controller.

Global economy increasingly responds to trends of industrial digitization and start to develop their own digitalization strategies e.i. through application of Industry 4.0 concepts. Thereby, initiatives and developments are often carried out on a company-, industry- or country-level, which can result in a lack of international co-operation and utilization of synergy-effects. To analyse the Industry 4.0 development status on a macro level and to enhance transnational developments, in the first part of this study we introduce the national Industry 4.0 platforms of three EU member states – the frontrunner Germany, the solidly rising Austria and Hungary that is in the process of catching up. Our analysis are carried out in four dimensions: economic background, country-specific Industry 4.0 interpretation, and local platforms as well as initiatives. To analyse the actual Industry 4.0 development status of industrial enterprises and of development platforms, existing Industry 4.0 maturity models form all three countries are presented and compared. Our analysis helped to capture the different phases of digitization and Industry 4.0 in Germany, Austria and Hungary in regard to defined goals and strategies and further of resulting problems with respect to Industry 4.0. Building on our comparison-studies and captured problems, decision makers should be enabled to carry out transnational Industry 4.0 projects and initiatives more effectively.

Incremental Sheet Forming is a prosperous process to manufacture sheet metal parts that is well adapted for prototypes or small batch production. Compared to traditional sheet forming technologies this relatively slow process is only profitable for the above mentioned production types but it can be used in different applications in automotive and aircraft industries, in architecture engineering and in medical aids manufacturing. In this paper indirectly obtained axial forming force on Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) of variable wall angle geometry were studied under different process parameters. The estimation of the forces on AlMn1Mg1 sheets with 0.22 mm initial thickness is performed by continuous monitoring of servo motor currents. The deformation states of the formed parts were analysed using the ARGUS optical strain measurement system of GOM. Interaction plot of forming speed, incremental depth, tool diameter and lubrication were also reported.
