Does supplier development matter for procurement performance in the textile industry? The moderating role of contract management difficulty

The research aims to examine the impact of supplier development on procurement performance, taking into consideration contract management difficulties as a moderating variable. The research method section of the study employs a cross-sectional research design. In this survey technique, a questionnaire is employed to collect primary data from 220 respondents from the purchasing department via Google Forms through an adopted questionnaire. The initial step in our analysis was to clean and analyse the data using SPSS and SmartPLS 3 software, then incorporate structural equation modelling (SEM) to conduct our analysis. The findings confirmed that supplier development affects procurement performance. In addition to this, the contract management difficulties suggested a negative and significant impact on procurement performance. Furthermore, the relationship between supplier development and procurement performance is moderated by contract management difficulty. These unique findings highlight the importance of supplier development and effective contract management in improving procurement performance in the textile industry. A simple method to forecast travel demand in urban public transport

The key to the planning of public transport systems is the accurate prediction of the traffic load, or the correct execution of the planning stage assignment. This requires not only a well-functioning assignment method, but also reliable passenger data. Reliable passenger data means a time-dependent origin-destination matrix. To solve the problem of the lack of time-dependent passenger data, we have developed a forecasting method. It consists of three stages. In the first stage, we collect full scope cross-section data. This can be done either with personnel or with an automatic counting system. If personnel are used it costs a lot, and there is the chance for many possible errors. However, the results in most cases are good enough. Automatic counting system can be either a counter machine or even a simple Check in E-ticketing system. In the second stage, we link boarding and alighting. As result, we get the origin-destination matrix for each run. This method is based on the likelihood of alighting at a given stop. In the third stage, we combine origin-destination matrices of the runs through transfers. At this stage we assume that the probability of a transfer between two runs in a given stop is proportional to the travel possibilities in this relation. To view the entire method in practice we proved it in a Hungarian city (Dunaújváros). The results were reliable, so they could be used in the planning process.

Numerical analysis of eddy current field in laminated media

A comprehensive analysis of the finite element method based lamination modeling has been performed and the results are presented in this paper. The simulations are made in two subsequent steps. In the first step, the approximate magnetic field distribution inside the material with linear characteristics is determined assuming a bulk material having anisotropic conductivity and laminates are not taken into account. In the second step, the eddy current field inside the individual laminates is modeled. The boundary conditions of any individual sheets are obtained from the bulk model. The paper presents the advantages and the drawbacks of the applicable potential formulations. Results are compared with the quasi-static electromagnetic field obtained from a reference solution taking account of each laminate.

Integrating geophysical techniques and UAV mapping for the detection and temporal analysis of soil pipes and pipe collapses in agricultural loess landscapes

Piping erosion represents a persistent and often concealed threat to soil and water resources in agricultural loess landscapes, particularly under semi-arid conditions. Accurate detection and temporal monitoring of soil pipes and pipe collapses (PCs) are essential for effective land management. This study investigates the spatial and temporal dynamics of piping erosion in the Aqchatal catchment, eastern Golestan Province, NE Iran, through an integrated approach combining geophysical surveys and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) mapping. The objectives were: (i) to inventory and characterize soil pipes using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electrical resistivity tomography (ERT); and (ii) to monitor the evolution of PCs from 2018 to 2023 using sequential UAV imagery. Three sets of UAV-derived orthomosaics, together with eight two-dimensional ERT profiles and thirteen GPR profiles, enabled the identification of areas at high risk of piping erosion. UAV analysis revealed recurrent PCs in close proximity to previously documented locations, frequently linked to anthropogenic activities such as agricultural machinery operations. GPR anomalies and ERT measurements indicated the continued susceptibility of areas with previously filled PCs, with possible soil pipes detected at depths of 1–7 m in both geophysical datasets. ERT results further identified resistivity values of 20–30 Ω⋅m for dry clay and silt layers, while values exceeding 300 Ω⋅m corresponded to potential pipe features. The integrated methodology demonstrated high efficacy in detecting and characterizing soil pipes in loess terrain. Based on these findings, targeted management strategies—including the establishment of buffer zones and the installation of informational boards—are recommended to mitigate piping erosion risk. Further assessment of the practical implementation and acceptance of these measures among landowners is warranted.

Peanut stunt virus movement protein is the limiting factor in Capsicum annuum infection

Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) is one of the most devastating plant viruses, with more than 1,200 species of host plants. The host range and economic importance of peanut stunt virus (PSV) are mostly limited to legumes, despite the similar taxonomy and genome structure with CMV. Since no data are available on the background of the limited host range of PSV, RNA 3 recombinant and reassortant viruses were generated (C12P3, P12C3, C12CP3, C12PC3, C12PΔC3) to study their infection phenotype on a common host (Nicotiana benthamiana) and on a selective host (Capsicum annuum cv. Brody). The PSV movement protein (MP) was not able to function with the coat protein (CP) of CMV unless the C-terminal 42 amino acids were deleted from the PSV MP. As a result of the inoculation experiments, MP was considered the protein influencing symptom phenotypes on N. benthamiana and responsible for the host range difference on the pepper. Since plasmodesmata (PD) localization of viral MPs is essential for cell-to-cell movement, subcellular localization of GFP-tagged MPs (CMV-MP-eGFP, PSV-MP-eGFP) was observed. In the case of CMV-MP-eGFP, clear colocalization with PD was detected in both hosts, but PSV-MP-eGFP was not tightly connected to the PD in N. benthamiana and barely localized to the PD in C. annuum epidermal cells. Measuring Pearson correlation coefficients (PCCs) also supported the visual observation.

Tackling energy poverty with renewable energy Projects: Fuzzy decision support system based on virtual and real experts

Energy poverty is a serious problem that increases economic inequalities, especially because individuals living in low-income areas have difficulty accessing energy. The development of renewable energy projects (REP) plays a critical role in reducing energy poverty. However, there is considerable uncertainty in determining strategies that will increase the effectiveness of REP to solve the problem of energy poverty. The purpose of this paper is to identify significant strategies to improve REP for the effective management of energy poverty problems by establishing a novel model. First, dimension reduction methodology is considered to calculate the importance of decision makers. The second stage includes prioritization of criteria using p,q-Spherical fuzzy (SFS) analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The final stage focuses on ranking of renewable energy investment (REI) alternatives using p,q-SFS weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS). The contribution of this paper to the literature is the determination of critical indicators that will increase the performance of REI to reduce the energy poverty problem with an original and comprehensive decision-making model. Creating a virtual expert is the main superiority of this proposed model. With the help of this issue, it can be possible to reach a sufficient number of experts. Hence, a more diverse and comprehensive evaluation can be conducted. The findings denote that start-up costs and geographical conditions have the highest significance to improve REP for the aim of minimizing energy poverty problem. Rooftop solar panels and micro wind turbines are also found as the most essential REI strategies.

The role of the environment in entrepreneurial propensity of youngsters’ business ideas

Entrepreneurship shows regional differences through countries’ history, economic environments, society and habits of individuals. Youngsters can think globally and have the highest skills to access information and know-how. This paper collects data from students’ project work from different countries and extract that information, which can give interesting input to describe regional effects on entrepreneurial propensity through a quantified semantic analysis. Youngsters from 12 countries received the same instructions to present their national economies and then create a business there. The fundamental question of the paper is that are there any definable attributes from the economic environment, which effect youngsters’ entrepreneurial propensity? How can we describe these effects? We linked values and made a numerical evaluation of youngsters’ business concepts, which gives not only a range but also the grade of the presence of local or regional elements. The results show that the more exact special elements of a national economy mentioned, the more barriers participants are aware of. The research concept and the results may give useful inputs in knowledge transfer and education of entrepreneurship.

Gas Dynamics Equations (GDEs) play a fundamental role in modeling fluid flows phenomena across a range of applications, from environmental systems to aerospace engineering. These equations mathematically represent the fundamental laws of mass, momentum and energy conservation. Modeling complex gas flows often requires advanced mathematical tools capable of capturing nonlocal and memory-dependent behavior. Therefore, this study explores the implementation of the Caputo–Fabrizio Fractional Derivative (CFFD) in the analysis of GDEs, highlighting its potential to accurately capture the behavior of complex fluid dynamics systems. A two-dimensional (2D) wavelet-based approach combined with suitable collocation grids is employed to approximate the solutions for spacetime Fractional Gas Dynamics Equations (FGDEs). The concept of the CFFD, with its nonsingular kernel, is integrated into the framework of GDEs, offering a more precise analytical perspective. By reformulating the FGDEs into a system of algebraic equations, the proposed approach enables efficient computation via iterative technique. The error analysis of the numerical results is presented through graphs and tables for three illustrative examples with varying fractional values, demonstrating a strong correlation between the analytical and approximated solutions. The performance of the scheme is evaluated using multiple error metrics, including minimum absolute error, L error, L2 error, and LRMS errors. The absolute errors demonstrate the improvement in results of FGDEs as the wavelet basis increases. The results validate the reliability and ease of implementation of the suggested approach for solving the FGDEs. The study demonstrates the method’s reliability, and potential for solving a wide class of nonlinear fractional models governed by nonlocal dynamics.
