Virtual reality headsets for employee training in enterprises: fuzzy SRP data-driven framework for a comprehensive evaluation

Virtual reality (VR) is progressively transforming employee training in companies by offering immersive and engaging learning experiences. Nevertheless, the selection of an appropriate VR headset is vital for optimizing training effectiveness. This paper addresses this issue by proposing a novel hybrid fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making model that integrates the improved fuzzy stepwise weight assessment ratio analysis (IF-SWARA) with the fuzzy simple ranking process (F-SRP). The IF-SWARA methodology is employed to compute the relative weights of the selection criteria for VR headsets utilized in employee training, whereas the newly developed F-SRP is implemented to rank the various VR headsets. By employing the IF-SWARA method, the model offers a more nuanced understanding of criteria weights, thereby reflecting the differing significance of various headset features. The research’s novelties and contributions are as follows: (1) This study is the first to select VR headsets by applying multi-criteria methods. (2) The F-SRP model is developed for the first time in the literature. (3) The introduced F-SRP methodology allows for a comprehensive ranking of the available VR headsets, facilitating informed decision-making. The paramount indicators for selecting VR headset options for training in enterprises consist of technical specifications, comfort and ergonomics, and screen specifications. The results obtained from the fuzzy SRP indicate that the Apple Vision Pro surpasses the other alternatives. Finally, the robustness and applicability of the proposed model are evaluated through an exhaustive sensitivity analysis. This research possesses broader implications for VR training in enterprises by providing a robust and reliable framework, ultimately contributing to the development of more effective and impactful VR training programs.

Human–GenAI-based agent collaboration: How employee perceptions shape knowledge sharing, thriving, and well-being

The growing pace of the introduction of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into organizational processes is changing the way workers cooperate with technology. Based on Social Exchange Theory, we propose that the perception of employees regarding the value of GenAI-based agents, their vulnerability and privacy, and their self-concern would determine the collaboration with GenAI agents, which subsequently would predict the knowledge sharing, job thriving, and well-being. The findings show that perceived GenAI-based value has a strong positive impact on human-GenAI-based agent collaboration, but data vulnerability and privacy concerns have no significance. Interestingly, self-concern has a positive effect, which implies that identity-based fears can be used to drive active use of GenAI-based agents. Knowledge sharing, job thriving, and well-being are highly predicted by human-GenAI-based agent collaboration, and organizational exploratory innovation moderates these correlations. These results extrapolate the Social Exchange Theory to human-AI situations, dispel the assumptions of the consistently negative impact of risk perception, and emphasize the relevance of organizational climate to the implementation of the advantages of AI cooperation. The paper provides both theoretical and practical understanding of the way in which employees interact with GenAI-based agents to ensure that organizational learning and psychological outcomes of employees are achieved.

Floristic and vegetation change on the Sphagnum-dominated mire of Egerbakta

Since 1988, open stands of Menyanthes trifoliata have disappeared, communities of Carex rostrata have declined, and the Sphagnum-dominated willow carr has expanded. The mire’s central associations include Caricetum rostratae, Salici cinereae–Sphagnetum recurvi sphagnetosum squarrosi, and Calamagrosti–Salicetum cinereae. In the mainly nudum lagg zone, the following communities occur: Bidenti–Polygonetum hydropiperis, Bidenti–Polygonetum hydropiperis urticetosum dioicae, Caricetum acutiformis, Juncetum effusi, Glycerietum maximae, and a community dominated by Poa nemoralis. We recorded 77 vascular plant species, 62 of which were new to the site. Rare species have declined in number: Menyanthes trifoliata and Cicuta virosa are now absent, and of the former eight Sphagnum species, only Sphagnum squarrosum remains. The original Salici cinereae–Sphagnetum recurvi sphagnetosum recurvi subassociation transitioned into Salici cinereae–Sphagnetum recurvi sphagnetosum squarrosi after the mire remained completely dry and peat-moss-free for several years around 2000. Central communities reflect a cool, moderately acidic, oligotrophic environment with low pH and conductivity. In contrast, lagg vegetation indicates warmer, nutrient-rich, less acidic conditions. The mire’s most valuable zone is its central, Sphagnum-rich area, whose preservation depends on a natural water supply maintained by continuous forest cover in the catchment and stable or reduced large game populations.

ANALYSIS OF WELL-BEING AT WORK AND WORKING FROM HOME BASED ON THE RESULTS OF A SURVEY IN SLOVAKIA

The coronavirus outbreak at the end of 2019 can be cited as a trigger for several drastic consequences. In those years and since, the pandemic brought many changes for which the world was not prepared. The spread and increased prevalence of home-based work is one such consequence. The study of the relationship between working from home and well-being at work is one of the most researched areas in the field of economic psychology today. The main objective of this study was to investigate well-being at work in a Slovak sample and to explore its relationship with working from home. The research methodology was implemented in the form of an online questionnaire at the end of 2023. A total of 772 people participated in the survey. According to the research hypothesis, there is a significant correlation between the form of working from home and a higher average level of well-being at work. The results obtained confirmed the hypothesis that working from home has a positive impact on well-being at work. Furthermore, the results highlight the main risks of work from home in terms of 'home comfort' and 'work-life balance'. In conclusion, the research has shown both the advantages and disadvantages of working from home, and managers should strive to ensure that the well-being of employees is maximized in order to work effectively.

Simulations of poroelastic materials in a complex acoustic system using frequency-dependent parameters in the mid-frequency range

Efficiency requirements prompt manufacturers to develop ever lighter acoustic packages in vehicles. Poroelastic materials are essential to achieve the desired interior noise level targets and thus the simulation of their effects is of utmost importance in NVH analyses. However, it is challenging to achieve good validation between finite element method (FEM) based simulation results and measurements in the mid-frequency range (400-1000 Hz). One possible reason could be the lack of using frequency-dependent Biot-paremeters describing the poroelastic materials (PEM) characteristics of trims. The present research aims to employ frequency-dependent Biot-parameters for the PEM materials to investigate the acoustic response of a scaled car-like steel structure composed of flat plates and U-section stiffeners enclosing an air cavity. Porous acoustic material is applied to the walls of the cavity. The focus of the study is to understand the effect of applying frequency-dependent Young's modulus and damping values for the PEM parameters in the 100-1000 Hz range. Simulation results obtained from ESI VPS FEM solver are compared with measurements, with particular focus on the interior sound pressure levels. The simulation methodology, including discretization techniques, structural damping and fluid damping applications are described in detail.

Abiotic stresses including drought, salinity, heat, cold, and heavy metal toxicity severely constrain plant productivity worldwide. Nitrogen (N), beyond its fundamental nutritional role, has emerged as a central regulator of plant stress responses through its involvement in metabolic reprogramming, osmotic adjustment, antioxidant defense, and hormonal signaling. This review synthesizes current advances in understanding how nitrogen availability and form influence plant tolerance to major abiotic stresses. Particular emphasis is placed on nitrogen-mediated modulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging systems, nitrogen–carbon metabolic coordination, phytohormonal crosstalk, osmoprotectant biosynthesis, and regulation of stress-responsive gene expression. Recent molecular insights highlight the role of nitrogen transporters, nitrate signaling pathways, and nitrogen-use efficiency in stress adaptation mechanisms. Furthermore, agronomic and biotechnological strategies aimed at optimizing nitrogen management to enhance stress resilience are discussed, including precision fertilization, integrated nutrient management, and genetic approaches targeting nitrogen-responsive regulatory networks. By integrating physiological, biochemical, and molecular perspectives, this review provides a comprehensive framework for understanding nitrogen-driven mitigation strategies under abiotic stress conditions and outlines future research directions for sustainable crop production in changing environments.

Today, the discourse around the current issues of effective learning is increasingly centred on modern information and communication technologies (ICT) and artificial intelligence (AI)-based methodological and technological solutions. ICT tools, such as online learning platforms, virtual classrooms and digital textbooks, have significantly transformed the educational environment, providing opportunities for personalised learning and remote access. In addition, AI-based applications, such as student performance analysis and curriculum customisation, are opening up new horizons in education. AI can create adaptive learning systems that continuously adapt to the needs and progress of students, thus increasing the effectiveness of learning. But these new technologies and methods also bring with them a number of challenges. One major challenge is digital inequality, as not all students have access to ICT tools and the Internet. Furthermore, educators need to continuously develop their digital competences to keep up with technological developments and effectively integrate new methods into teaching. There are also ethical issues, in particular data protection and student privacy. New opportunities include the use of learning analytics to help educators better understand learning processes and identify areas where students need help. Interactive and gamified learning materials developed with the help of AI can make learning more motivating and enjoyable, thereby increasing student engagement. Overall, the integration of modern ICT and AI-based methods and technologies into education offers significant benefits, but their successful implementation requires adequate infrastructural support, continuous training for teachers and digital access for students. This article provides a brief summary of all these phenomena, trends, opportunities and good practices.

Applicability of various wavelet families in fuzzy classification of access networks' telecommunication lines

The future of the smart society sets challenges for all types of existing telecommunication networks and links. For ensuring the optimal utilization of these networks precise performance predictions are necessary, especially in case of the symmetrical access networks with rather limited transmission capacity. It is also important to harness the already established infrastructure as long as it is technically possible, so that the use of the environmental resources would be minimal and the economical advantages would be maximal. In performance prediction of telecommunication links the high-dimensional input data, like the insertion loss spectrum, should be compessed. After reducing the dimension of the antecedent set, a fuzzy inference can be carried out for each of the lines. As the number of lines used for building the fuzzy sets is finite and the supports of the fuzzy set do not cover the whole space, a stabilized KH interpolation is used in the decision process. Wavelets constitute the basis of methods for compressing and analyzing data in many fields of science and technology. For the reduction of the input dimension, wavelets proved to be an effective tool. The applicability of various wavelet families with different sizes of filter coefficient sets are tested in the following considerations, with the result, that the wavelet type does not play an essential role as well as the length of the wavelets. Only the deepness of the wavelet transform influences essentially the goodness of the prediction: the remaining number of points should be 4 after the transformation.

Perceptions and practices of academic excellence: Insights from university stakeholders

The study analyzes how academic excellence is conceptualized within Kazakhstani universities, focusing on two key internal stakeholder groups: faculty members and administrative staff. While academic excellence has become a global priority, little empirical evidence exists on how it is interpreted in emerging higher education systems. The paper addresses this gap by examining the Kazakhstani case, where government-led excellence initiatives are still in their early stages. A quota-based survey was conducted across 42 universities, producing weighted responses from 832 faculty and 155 administrators. Quantitative data were processed with IBM SPSS Statistics 25, employing descriptive statistics, Welch’s t-test, and two-way ANOVA to compare perceptions between the groups. Despite a broad consensus on the multidimensional nature of academic excellence (positive agreement averaged > 94%), the results reveal consistent differences in their interpretation of core parameters. Of the 32 indicators tested, only four showed no statistically significant difference between faculty and administrators: faculty numbers (p = 0.246), academic reputation and stakeholder recognition (p = 0.701), graduate employability and employer satisfaction (p = 0.106), and student enrollment (p = 0.588). Overall, administrators assigned systematically higher importance to institutional characteristics, enabling components, and barriers across all thematic blocks. Consistent with the conceptual framework integrating institutional and stakeholder perspectives, these patterns indicate that external policy pressures and role-specific responsibilities shape interpretations of excellence. These findings provide a data-driven basis for designing initiatives that couple system-level reforms with participatory governance and co-created metrics, thereby improving the translation of policy into practice.
