TP Transformation Based Controller and Observer Design of the Inverted Pendulum

The paper discusses that applying of CNO and IRNO type weighting functions results different TP models, including controller and observer. Selection of weighting functions has influence on the TP model transformation and the LMI based design. Present paper introduces the LMI based observer and controller design of the inverted pendulum via the TP model transformation based method using CNO and IRNO type weighting functions. The TP transformation is accomplished by qLPV modeling and HOSVD method. The paper gives a conclusion and a comparison of the original and estimated state variables and the impact of applying two types of weighting functions. The aim of present paper is to prove that using different type of weighting functions influences the TP models and LMI methods, but LMIs still result feasible solution for controller and observer design. Furthermore the modification allows to choose the better controller/observer.

Short videos are reshaping the digital landscape and opening a new frontier in digital marketing. By fostering binge-watching tendencies, cognitive lock-in, and stronger influence over consumer attention and choice, short videos create conditions for sustained engagement. Drawing on Media Systems Dependency Theory (MSDT), this study introduces a new zone phase construct and advances an integrative conceptual model that explains how the psychological mechanisms operating among short video users generate immersive experiences. Using a mixed-methods design that combined inductive exploration with deductive testing, we developed and empirically validated the model through statistical analysis. The study clarifies the drivers of habitual short video use and offers creative, actionable insights for practice. Overall, the findings yield clear implications for digital marketing strategy and make a compelling case for the strategic deployment of short videos to enhance commercial viability.

INVESTIGATING THE GLOBAL WARMING POTENTIAL OF ROOF STRUCTURES USING PARAMETRIC BIM METHOD

The sustainability of buildings is becoming increasingly important in today's world. Ever stricter environmental regulations encourage designers to select appropriate materials and products by examining multiple alternative solutions. This article presents an analysis of the global warming potential (GWP) of the roof structure of a residential building depending on the roof shape and angle. Three different roof types (flat roof, gable roof, and shed roof) were examined with the application of commonly used composite structures. The applied range of roof angles was between 20ºand 45ºin 5-degree increments for the gable and shed roofs, while 0ºwas used for the flat roof. The analysis was conducted using the Archicad-Grasshopper live connection, which enabled rapid examination of the GWP by dynamically tracking changes in geometry and roof angle. According to the results, the roof shape constructed with a steel beam slab and a gable roof made of solid wood had the smallest environmental impact in terms of the first phase of the life cycle.

In today’s vehicle industry “X-by-wire” technologies gain significant importance, especially in full-electric vehicles. This paper demonstrates the first steps of an electromechanical bicycle wedge brake design that uses brake-by-wire technology. The paper discusses the importance of Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) and Brake-by-Wire (BBW) technologies in the bicycle industry and summarizes how the technologies improve rider safety. Then we do a technical investigation by establishing a Model-Based Design workflow for developing a first-principle ABS control for electronic wedge brake applications. First, We establish a longitudinal model of a bicycle, allowing for a detailed investigation of wheel-lockups. After obtaining a baseline bicycle model we implement a control algorithm to prevent wheel-lockup during braking. The effect of the control algorithm on the braking distance of the bicycle is also investigated. After concluding the effects of the ABS brake systems for bicycles we summarize the next steps for continuing the design process of the brake system development.

This study was conducted in Pakistan during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study examines the role of leisure satisfaction on student engagement, during the period of COVID-19 in higher education institutes. The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of COVID-19 on students' leisure, emotional, cognitive and behavioral engagement. This study is based on three scales: the Leisure satisfaction scale, the student engagement scale and the fear of COVID-19 pandemic scale. This is a quantitative study based on a questionnaire. The results have been drawn over SmartPLS version 4.0. Covid-19 harms Leisure satisfaction, and it also harms the emotional engagement of students. Leisure satisfaction has a positive impact on student engagement, but it has a weak negative relationship with fear of Covid-19. The fear of the COVID-19 pandemic, negatively impacts the students' leisure satisfaction and leads to increased anxiety and depression.

Purpose – The emergence of technological knowledge management resources, including the internet and social media technologies, has significantly transformed firms’international marketing strategies. Drawing on the knowledge-based view and dynamic capability theory, this study aims to investigate whether internet marketing capability (IMC) and social customer relationship management capability (SCRM) enhance international performance through the development of international network capability (INC). Design/methodology/approach – The paper empirically tested the proposed conceptual model using survey data from 197 export-oriented manufacturing firms. The proposed relationship was tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling with a bootstrapping procedure. Findings – Both IMC and SCRM positively influence INC. In turn, INC significantly enhances customer relationship performance (CRP) and IMG. The results of mediation analyses reveal that INC transmits the effects of IMC on CRP and of SCRM on IMG, indicating partial mediation in both relationships. Originality/value – The results show that the organization INC is a key predictor of the international market performance. By distinguishing between customer relational performance (CRP) and international growth performance (IMG), the findings of this research explain how different digital capabilities translate into distinct international outcomes for emerging-market exporting firms. This study also extends this line of research by suggesting that a firm’s INC is an important determinant for IMG.

Changes in antibiotic use in Hungarian large pig farms between 2022 and 2024

Background: The intensification of pig production systems has been associated with increased antimicrobial use (AMU), which remains a key driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and a major concern for both veterinary and public health sectors. Monitoring and rationalizing antibiotic usage are crucial to prevent the selection of resistant bacterial strains that pose risks to both animal and public health. Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the structure and magnitude of antibiotic use as well as related reduction strategies, in three large-scale Hungarian swine herds, based on farm data recorded between January 2022 and June 2024. Materials and Methods: Data were collected using a digital herd health monitoring system covering monthly animal health cases and antibiotic usage. Antibiotic use was evaluated by AMEG classification, active ingredient groups, route of administration (e.g. water, feed, injection), treatment type (therapeutic vs. metaphylactic) and age group (e.g. sows, weaners, fatteners). Quantitative indicators included total mass (mg) and mg/PCU values. Results and Discussion: Antibiotic use declined during the study period, particularly in weaned pigs by 87.6% (corrected mg/PCU: from 341.70 to 42.35). The most frequent clinical problems on the examined farms were enteric and respiratory disorders as well as arthritis. Drinking water medication remained dominant (93.8%), though individual treatments increased in frequency. In 2023, a major shift occurred toward targeted therapeutic use (83.7%) over metaphylaxis (16.3%). The increased proportion of AMEG C category antibiotics and reduced use of AMEG D category substances indicate changing prescribing patterns. Regular treatment logs, vaccination protocols, sensitivity testing and the use of organic acids and probiotics may contribute to a more prudent antibiotic approach. These results confirm the importance of diagnostics-driven treatment and farm-specific interventions in AMR mitigation.

Choices Based on the Self-Perception of University Applicants in their Decisions on Applying to Higher Education

This paper investigates the role of self-concept and perceptions of academic performance in shaping university students’ choice of educational institutions, as well as the factors that influence these decisions. Various empirical studies have examined this topic, identified key determinants and reflected the aspects and expectations that students prioritize when making decisions about their academic future. In this study, we utilized scientific databases to filter through thousands of papers, ultimately selecting 225 articles that were directly related to decision-making processes in education. Out of these, we have cited 60 publications that offer significant insights relevant to our research. Moreover, we identified 20 empirical studies that specifically analyse the factors that influence students’ decision-making processes, based on data gathered through questionnaires and interviews. To further explore students' career aspirations and understand the factors influencing their choices, we focus on several key variables. These include students' self-perception, self-confidence, and personal development. We also assess how external factors, such as socioeconomic conditions, family expectations, and educational environment, may impact these decisions. By examining these elements, we aim to uncover how such influences contribute to students' educational and professional trajectories. This study seeks to clarify how diverse influences, particularly those experienced during adolescence, shape individuals’ personal growth and career pathways. In addition, it aims to identify any gaps in existing research, especially with regard to international practices and trends, thereby contributing to the broader understanding of student decision-making in higher education.
