The effect of 1-MCP and its preservative solution combinations on the vase life of rose cultivar 'Bordeaux'

Publication Name: Acta Horticulturae

Publication Date: 2010-11-11

Volume: 877

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 291-296

Description:

The effect of 1-MCP on rose cultivar 'Bordeaux' was studied in the case of different preservative solutions. The flowers were treated with 1-MCP for 6 hours at 17°C and for 18 hours on 4°C. The diameter of flowers and the vase life proved to be better with the treatment of 18 hours. The best result was achieved, when the flowers were treated with 1-MCP (18 hours) in Spring solution. In this case 11,2 days was the vase life compared to control 8,25 days, that way the vase life was extended with 3 days.

Use of multifunctional geocomposites as dampers for structure subjected to external vibrations

No authors available

Publication Name: 11th International Conference on Geosynthetics 2018, ICG 2018

Publication Date: 2018-01-01

Volume: 4

Page Range: 2796-2802

Description:

Vibrations created by road or railway traffic are transmitted though soil to adjacent structures. In densely populated urban areas this can have an impact on the health and well-being of residents as well as affecting the value of their property. Geocomposite products with 3D looped filament polyamide cores have been used successfully over the world for decades in vertical and horizontal drainage applications. In situ monitoring coupled with complementary laboratory testing has led to a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities of these products, which due to the long-term elasticity of the polyamide core enables these materials to reduce the transmission of these vibrations. This paper discusses the efficiency of the geocomposite materials on the basis of newly executed field test results regarding the behaviour of geocomposite materials in dynamic pressure environment.

An assessment of traffic education and its examination system—an extended House of Quality approach

Publication Name: Humanities and Social Sciences Communications

Publication Date: 2024-12-01

Volume: 11

Issue: 1

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

The goal of this article is to examine traffic education and its examination system, using a new approach based on the House of Quality method. While every country has its own legal rules and requirements regarding how traffic education and examinations are conducted, there is a direct relationship between traffic education, its examination system and road safety. Therefore the quality of such a complicated process is of great interest for both stakeholders: the authorities and the citizens. These stakeholders both have their own objectives regarding the system, consequently increasing its complexity. This article investigates, as its case study, the system in Hungary. The House of Quality method has been expanded to provide a unique approach to examine the goals and objectives of both stakeholders, revealing similarities and differences and their interrelationships. Secondary data on the effectiveness of the traffic education and examination system are also analysed. Based on the HOQ model representations of the goals and objectives of the stakeholders regarding the traffic education and exam system, it can be established that the stakeholder points of view are closer to each other in the case of the test system than that of the education system. However, there are unsolved contradictions between the stakeholders that have to be handled, as opinions regarding the quality of the service and the criteria of the stakeholders’ satisfaction are very diverse.

Quantitative comparative analysis on the cultural tourism-financial potential of creative cities (on the example of Debrecen, Győr and Veszprém)

Publication Name: Teruleti Statisztika

Publication Date: 2020-01-01

Volume: 60

Issue: 5

Page Range: 548-566

Description:

The European Capital of Culture (ECOC) programme series aims to present the diversity of European culture, focusing on the cultural values and dimensions of cities. In 2023, Debrecen, Győr and Veszprém, as Hungarian applicants, entered the second round of the selection procedure. Although most attention is focused on the cultural programs of the project year, the project application phase is also exciting, as applicant cities can present their plans, development ideas and potentials in the field of culture. The study compares the creative aspirations and cultural potential of these 3 cities, exploring the cultural visions, strengths and weaknesses of these culturally outstandingly ambitious cities, mainly using quantifiable indicators. The authors developed and applied a survey model having 14 indicators for a quantitative comparative analysis of the cultural, tourism and financial potential of the three cities. Comparing 2 large and 1 medium-sized cities in Hungary, the authors conclude that not only in Central and Eastern Europe, but also in Hungary, stronger efforts are made to have culturally rich and creative cities.

Lactose intolerance: The most significant nutritional recommendations of lactose free diet

Publication Name: Bio Web of Conferences

Publication Date: 2024-08-23

Volume: 125

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: Unknown

Description:

Background: Milk and dairy products play a key role in healthy diet. In case of lactose intolerance, the digestion of these products becomes difficult. It is associated with stomach and intestinal complaints. Purpose: The purpose of the manuscript is to summarize the literature on lactose, lactose intolerance, lactose-free diet and lactose-free products development opportunities. We hope that we can contribute to a more accurate understanding of the lactose-free diet and reveal connections between consumer expectations and consumption. Methods: Electronic searches were conducted in Google Scholar, Medline, PubMed and Science Direct databases. We used 34 specialist literature and 3 URL to write our conference publication. Results: We summarized the most important characteristics of lactose, the symptoms and treatment options of lactose intolerance, the importance of lactose-free diet and calcium supplementation in the therapy of lactose intolerance and the latest and most informative publications on the development of lactose-free functional foods. Conclusion: Today, the consumption of lactose-free products is an outstanding way to treat the growing number of people with lactose intolerance. The food industry also pays special attention to the application of new technologies and product development. We hope to contribute to a wider understanding of lactose, lactose intolerance, the lactose-free diet and lactose-free product development opportunities with our conference manuscript.

The grass is always greener on the other side, or else Austria through the eyes of European rural developers

No authors available

Publication Name: DETUROPE

Publication Date: 2018-01-01

Volume: 10

Issue: 3

Page Range: 199-213

Description:

The study seeks to answer the question as to why the combined performance of agriculture and forestry can be explained by the fact that in an EU member state with an agricultural disadvantage and with an advanced economy, the size of the cultivated area is high. The reasons are complex and suggest a deliberately chosen strategy, the essence of which is that in Austria the social perception of agriculture is far more favorable than it would be expected from its GDP contribution. The reasons for this are partly rooted in the history of the past, but may also be linked to a more immediate and strategic decision making primarily on the transformation of the agricultural product structure, the efficient use of resources from the EU, the use of sophisticated tools for rural tourism and, last but not least, on the widespread shaping of the attitudes of the population.
