Publication Name: Knowledge Management Research and Practice

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 20

Issue: 6

Page Range: 925-934

Description:

The Digital Age has brought not only new tools but also several new methods. A Collaborative Knowledge Platform with a hybrid intelligent system may be the appropriate base of a knowledge management system to ensure inspiration and new knowledge for a professional group of individuals. The introduced concept contributes to Knowledge Collaboration and Knowledge Engineering. The method is a special form of Knowledge Engineering which involves combining machine learning algorithms with cased-based reasoning and the result is the transformation of personal knowledge to widely adaptable explicit knowledge. Individuals can learn informally while their learning route automatically generates data for reductive reasoning process, which finally leads to the opportunity of experience mining. A concept and an approach are suggested to improve the knowledge collaboration in innovative communities, and a creative problem solving process delivers the outcome in the development of a Knowledge Management System. Finally, some partial results of the design phase of an application are presented.

Quantifying the Effectiveness of Project-Based Editing Operations in Virtual Reality

Publication Name: 2022 1st IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Aspects of Virtual Reality Cvr 2022

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 49-54

Description:

With the rapid evolution of virtual reality solutions as general-purpose computing platforms, the ability of users to integrate their complete digital life into 3D spaces is becoming increasingly important. In this paper, we focus on ways to manipulate arrangements - or layouts - of 2D content in 3D spaces. We compare three different approaches to layout creation based on variations and combinations of previously proposed solutions. Through controlled experiments, we show that users can create content layouts with high accuracy and significantly less time if they can re-use already existing content layouts. These results support the idea that the effectiveness of virtual reality platforms as universal computing platforms can be improved by incorporating a 3D file system in which spatial dashboard layouts emerge as a central organizing concept.

Business Culture and Behavioral Characteristics

No authors available

Publication Name: Acta Polytechnica Hungarica

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 19

Issue: 7

Page Range: 69-86

Description:

The main goal of our research, and thus, of our present study, was to explore some problems and issues of business behavior and etiquette in Slovakia and Hungary. The international comparative research program launched by Fam and Richards was our starting point, in which we examined these two countries. We found that due to the cultural differences in the dimensions of the Hofstede model, differences can be detected in business ethics and etiquette in the business life of Hungary and Slovakia, which can be supported by statistical methods. At the same time, our results also showed that almost a half-century since Hofstede research has not passed without a trace in the Central European Region. The transition from socialism to a market economy involved border openings. At the same time, it facilitated the convergence of the business culture of Slovakia and Hungary, changing the relative position of these two countries on the Hofstede scale. We drew attention to the fact that it would be worth repeating Hofstede's research to record socio-economic changes, in the case of intensely transforming societies and countries.

Volume: Unknown

Issue: Unknown

Page Range: 137-140

Description:

The emergence of new ICT tools, smartphone applications and digital platforms has made teachers curious about how to use them in education. This has led to a number of good practices. It is questionable whether continuous and meticulous measurements with digital tools can significantly help the work, or whether the glamour of numbers can obscure the point and induce unnecessary developments and purchases.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE HUNGARIAN-SLOVAKIAN CROSS-BORDER AREA – SZIGETKÖZ AND CSALLÓKÖZ (Žitný ostrov) ACCORDING TO DEVELOPMENT DOCUMENTS AND LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS PERCEPTIONS

Publication Name: Deturope

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 14

Issue: 1

Page Range: 87-110

Description:

The current research investigates the Hungarian-Slovakian cross-border area of Szigetköz-Csallóköz in the context of new economic opportunities facilitated by water level regulation. The objective of the research is to unearth the potential economic opportunities triggered by the planned interventions and reveal the latent resources in the regional socio-economic fabric. The research employs two analytical methods: a situation analysis phase comprising an in-depth analysis of strategic documents that discuss various economic features of the Szigetköz – Csallóköz area, and a needs assessment phase based on in-depth interviews with decision-makers and institutional leaders of the selected municipalities (N=22). The research results are presented in the form of proposals related to infrastructural developments, such as the construction of a cycle path along the Old Danube embankment (from Danakiliti to Gönyű) or economic development such as the creation of a unique tourism brand.

Out-of-plane buckling resistance of members with monosymmetric I-section according to prEN 1993–1–1:2020

Publication Name: Bauingenieur

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 97

Issue: 6

Page Range: 173-185

Description:

In this paper, the stability resistance of beam-columns with monosymmetric I-section are examined according to prEN 1993–1–1:2020 standard. The buckling behaviour of the members with monosymmetric I-section is different from doubly symmetric cross-section because the eccentricity between the shear centre and centre of gravity causes additional second-order bending moments and second-order bimoment from compression. This paper aims to show a comparison between the results of the Interaction Method, General Method and the Overall Imperfection Method. To investigate the accuracy of the above-mentioned design methods several geometrically and materially nonlinear analyses with imperfections (also known as GMNIA) were carried out by the authors. The parametric study showed that the different methods have similar safety level in the investigated cases.

EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SPORTS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN EUROPE: HIGH ACHIEVEMENTS, PUBLIC FUNDING AND A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Publication Name: Economics and Sociology

Publication Date: 2022-01-01

Volume: 15

Issue: 4

Page Range: 264-285

Description:

The article proposes an original approach to evaluating the effectiveness of the sports management system, which differs from the classical linear and non-linear optimization methods due to its use of quantile regression models. Three main indicators were chosen for creating the quantile regressions: (i) number of participants in the Olympic Games-as a feature of the effectiveness of the high-achievement sports; (ii) total number of people engaged in sports-as a feature of an effective mass sports system, which ensures a healthy lifestyle of the population; and (iii) state expenses on recreational and sports services. The quality of quantile regressions was validated by the Fisher test and the two-factor variance analysis. The research focused on the data of 30 European countries, which officially and publicly provide access to statistical reports on these issues. The countries were divided into two groups with above-average and below-average effectiveness of the sports management system. Two hypotheses were proposed and tested in the study. Hypothesis H1 was that the effectiveness of high-achievement sports depends on the amount of state funding for developing the sports industry. Research results confirmed this hypothesis for countries with an above-average level of sports management system effectiveness, but refuted it for the other group. Hypothesis H2 stated that the more massive the development of sport in a country, i.e., the more people are engaged in sports and lead a healthy lifestyle, the more likely this country is to achieve victories in high-achievement sports. This hypothesis was confirmed for both groups of countries.
