Description:

The bilateral or unilateral contact problem with Coulomb friction between two elastic bodies is considered [1, 12]. An algorithm is introduced to solve the resulting finite element system using a non-overlapping domain decomposition method. This technique enables the transformation of the solution of the global problem to the solution of the elasticity equations for each body separately and the solution of a smaller problem for the contact surface. The solution is obtained by using a successive approximation method, in each step of this algorithm two intermediate problems are solved, the first with prescribed tangential pressure, and the second with prescribed normal pressure[11]. © Civil-Comp Press, 2012.

Consequences of the integration to the Eurasian Economic Union: Methodology of statistical evaluation and first results

The study represents an assessment of socio-economic integration consequences within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) for the participating countries - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The authors implemented a personally developed approach of integral efficiency evaluation based on the calculation of the coefficients of state social and economic development indicators of growth as a main method for such assessment. These indicators allow us to characterise the following segments: national welfare, inflation, investment activity, labour market and the level of poverty, and the condition of the main economic sectors. The authors determined that Russia is the only export-oriented member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The worst consequences of integration in the cross-border trade sphere are observed in Belarus. For the analysed countries (excluding Kyrgyzstan), the first year of the existence of the EEU can be characterised as a period of economic recession (2015). According to the comparison of integral rates for the periods of 2005-2014 and 2015-2017, it was defined that the integration had a positive economic effect in the short term. By now, all the five participating countries have achieved the same level of social and economic development as in the pre-crisis period (2012-2013). In terms of the EEU membership, the calculated economic growth expands from 3% in Kyrgyzstan (by the integral index) up to 30% in the Republic of Belarus. Russia has also significantly strengthened its position (the growth rate of the index in 2015-17 was 25%).

Chatbot as a Corporate Communication Tool: Best Practice of a Hungarian HR Services Company

The advent of cutting-edge technologies has changed the way humans communicate. Corporate communication also has to face the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities stemming from the evolution of infocommunication technologies. The paper aims to present the best practice of a Hungarian certified company providing full HR services regarding the use of a chatbot software application as a corporate communication tool. The company applies its award-winning chatbot to communicate with its temporary workforce in five different languages. The paper is a single-case study based on secondary and primary research. The empirical research is carried out by means of an in-depth interview with the examined company’s representative to get details about the successful application of the chatbot software. The results reveal that the company was able to successfully integrate a rule-based chatbot into its corporate communications. The use of the chatbot has brought a number of benefits, e.g. time-and cost-effectiveness, satisfaction from both the temporary workforce and the internal staff. The paper concludes that even the most basic type of chatbot software can be applied effectively if the users are informed and well-prepared in advance, meanwhile the knowledge base of the chatbot software is appropriately determined and constantly updated.

Effect of biodiesel-derived by-product on the germination of common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) in pot experiments

The effect of biodiesel-derived by-product (SZO = soap-like emulsion) from rape oil was examined on the germination of common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) achenes in pot experiments. Soils were treated in three different doses: 2500, 5000 and 10000 liter/ha, applied in proportion to the surface area of the pots. Control soil was moistened with the same amount of tap water. Fifty ragweed achenes were sown into each pot, then the pots were placed in a refrigerator for cold treatment (35 days, +7 °C). Following cold treatment the pots were placed in an unheated greenhouse and the germination of ragweed achenes were monitored for 40 days. Common ragweed seedlings emerged from soils of each treatment including the control, but their rate of germination differed. The highest number of seedlings appeared in the control pots (51.5%), whereas the lowest number was observed in the 2500 l/ha dose pots (33.0%). Order of the treatments according to increasing germination succes was the following: 2500 < 10000 < 5000 < control. Germination rate in treatments 2500 l/ha and 10000 l/ha was significantly lower than it was detected in the control. SZO dose of 5000 l/ha resulted intermediate germination rate of ragweed achenes, that did not differ significantly from any other treatments. Based on the results, the studied biodiesel-derived by-product can potentially be used in weed control. For its appropriate use, the effective chemical components of the SZO should be identified. Further studies needed to determine the optimal dose applicable in field management and to investigate the potential effect of SZO on the germination of cultivated species.

Effects of Vinasse and zinc complex on the yield, crude protein, and gluten of winter wheat

The primary goal of agricultural production is to produce adequate quantity and quality of crops. One crucial aspect of this is providing the appropriate nutrients to plants. In recent times, there has been a growing emphasis on replenishing micronutrients beside macronutrients, as essential microelements, although in smaller quantities, are indispensable for the cultivation of our crops. In our three-year small-plot experiments, the effect of two foliar fertilizers, Vinasse, which is a byproduct of alcohol production, and a zinc complex on the yield, crude protein, and gluten content of winter wheat, was investigated. The effects of these formulations when applied as foliar fertilizers separately and together, at doses of 50, 100, 250 and 500 l/ha for Vinasse and 0.5 kg/ha for zinc complex, were examined. Based on the results of the small-plot experiments set up in the fall of 2020 and 2021 and harvested in the summer of 2021 and 2022, it can be concluded that using Vinasse + zinc complex treatments a higher yield and better content indicators were achieved compared to the control plots. The highest dose of Vinasse (500 l/ha) + zinc complex (0.5 kg/ha) had the greatest positive effect on yield values.

Truck platoon analysis for autonomous trucks

Selection of optimum platoon pattern based on types of trucks inside the platoon, the number of trucks in the platoon, headway distance, interplatoon distance as well as the use of different lateral wander modes for autonomous trucks has been analyzed. The objective of this research is to study the impacts of axle configurations, truck grouping, headway distance and lateral wander options on the performance of truck platoons. Four different headway distances from 2 to 5 m are compared. The first platoon PT-1 only consists of semi trailers, the second platoon PT-2 only consists of rigid body trucks and the third platoon PT-3 consists of equally distributed random traffic mix. Analysis has been conducted using the dload subroutine for projecting zero wander and uniform wander movements for each truck in the platoon on a three layered pavement crossection at vehicle speeds of 90 km/h for a total of 15 years of pavement lifetime consisting of 1.4 million equivalent single axle loads in finite element software ABAQUS. Results show that PT-3 platoon yields the minimum accumulation of damaging strains when compared against other platoon types. A headway distance of 5 m is suggested when using a zero wander mode and 3 m when using a uniform wander mode. In case of zero wander mode, fatigue life of the pavement decreases by 1.2 years and the use of uniform wander mode delays the rutting by 1.6 years, thereby increasing lifetime of the pavement.

The output of logistics is performed by the appropriate and proportional use of material and information flows. Important issue is to determine the proper equilibrium between the resources devoted to the two main system elements. The necessity of continuous improvement of informatics and logistic flows is not questionable since the efficiency of logistics control systems can be increased by reducing the time gap between the time of gaining the data and use of information for planning purpose. In different logistics subsystems the role and importance of time gaps differ. Having generally overviewed the subsystems the papers introduce the efficiency of informatics based on Cobb-Douglas production function in order to spot the elements of logistics where the reduction of time gap is of economic interest, that is under what conditions can the IT developments and investment be efficient. Finally a draft framework is described as a general solution that can use informatic means in order to increase road transport system capacity usage.

The Quality of Reserve Risk Calculation Models under Solvency II and IFRS 17

We analyse four stochastic claims reserving methods in terms of their capability to estimate reserve risk and how successful they are at predicting distributions and VaRs of claim developments in particular. Both actual data and hypothetical claim triangles support our results. The appropriateness of the Solvency II risk margin on a one-year horizon and of the IFRS 17 risk adjustment in the long run largely vary by the chosen risk model. Despite the fact that IFRS 17 does not uniquely prescribe the metric for risk adjustment, we expect that VaR will be widely applied by insurance firms. Overall, actual data suggest that VaRs are predominantly underestimated by the models. Nevertheless, the (Formula presented.) -VaRs under Solvency II are mostly sufficient on a 10-year-horizon to cover liabilities.
