Transportation in the 20th century was linked to hydrocarbons. The first steps of the transition to electric propulsion are currently underway. Technical experts are still debating whether this is the ideal solution while producing the batteries required for the method has begun. One of the main areas of high-speed industrialization is Hungary. The government's intention is clear, primarily to increase GDP and create jobs. The population knows that jobs can only be filled by foreign, immigrant workers and is extremely worried about possible accidents during production and destruction. The research aims to explore the opinions in detail and examine the possibilities of approximating different positions. This quantitative study found that the respondents would like to live at an unrealistically large distance from such facilities. Many people want the battery factories to be banned or the investments to be stopped, and the fact that very few people are informed from the literature plays a significant role. The greatest fear is experienced among the middle-aged, and we justify our findings with social facts and negative events. In order to resolve the tensions, it is recommended to educate the masses on the one hand, and on the other hand, stricter control, and more significant sanctions. These methods ensure that negotiations between the population, civil organizations, and companies end with a compromise created by a debate supported by arguments in civilized conditions.

First record of Ixodes (Scaphixodes) caledonicus in the Carpathian Basin and first time molecular-phylogenetic analysis of this tick species with updated host records and geographical range

Four Ixodes species represent the subgenus Scaphixodes Schulze, 1941 in Europe, but none of them were reported to be compared in a molecular-phylogenetic context. This study compensates for this lack of data. A tick larva, morphologically identified as Ixodes (Scaphixodes) caledonicus Nuttall, 1910, was collected from an Alpine swift (Tachymarptis melba) during its nesting period in Transylvania, Romania. Following DNA extraction, PCR analyses and sequencing in part with newly designed primers, three genetic markers of this specimen were amplified and compared to GenBank data, and two were analyzed phylogenetically. Based on sequence comparisons of its mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (cox1) and nuclear 28S rRNA genes I. caledonicus appeared to be closely related to members of the subgenus Pholeoixodes. However, the topology of the concatenated cox1 and 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic tree clearly showed its clustering with Ixodes (Scaphixodes) philipi. In conclusion, I. caledonicus is part of the tick fauna of Romania and is expected to occur also in other countries of the Carpathian Basin where rocky cliffs are available for nesting of swifts and other birds. This is the first species of the subgenus Scaphixodes in Europe, for which the traditional (morphology-based) taxonomic assignment is confirmed by molecular-phylogenetic analyses.

Accident Risk Analysis of Road Accidents Involving Personal Injury

In both the European Union Member States and Hungary, a large number of people are killed in road traffic accidents. Reducing road collisions, personal injuries, and fatalities is a priority. To get an accurate picture of the situation, it is necessary to know the accident statistics of the European Union and the main EU directives that define a Safe Transport System. We then review the road safety situation in Hungary, using data from 2017 to 2020. In preparing the statistical overview, particular attention will be paid to the spatial distribution of severity, over time and by county, the distribution of accident participants by type of transport, the characteristics of the persons involved in the accident, the causes of the accidents and the distribution by type of accident. The analysis includes an explanation of the variables related to the vehicles involved in the accident and the causes of accidents related to human factors.

Portfolio composition and the zero lower bound–evidence from the eurozone countries

Between 2008 and 2020 it has been a common practice among main central banks to keep the policy rate at or around zero. Apart from the expected macroeconomic consequences described partly by liquidity trap theories and structural macroeconomic models discussing the effectiveness of economic policy at the zero lower bound (ZLB), moderate interest rates have a notable influence on the portfolio optimising decisions of economic actors as well. The paper thus endeavours to reveal the wealth effect at the ZLB. Firstly, it compares how the various monetary aggregates and sectoral portfolios changed in the USA and in the eurozone between 2000 and 2020 contrasting the empirical facts with the theoretical assumptions and the experience of the Japan’s lost decade. Secondly, it examines the impact of the common monetary policy at the ZLB on the portfolio structure of individual countries of the eurozone. Hierarchical cluster analysis is applied using Eurostat sectoral financial asset statistics for selected years between 2005 and 2019. After choosing the best asset-to-GDP variables of sectoral financial asset holdings, countries are separated in different clusters based on Squared Euclidean distance and variables are standardised to z-scores. The analysis revealed that low interest rates cause significant portfolio rearrangements in the eurozone as a whole. Moreover, there is much greater diversity between individual member states originally than the way monetary policy influenced differences in the portfolio composition of economic sectors, even some convergence between core and periphery countries is observable.

Crime “hot-spots” identification and analysis in Hungary by computational intelligence

The representation of the data and analysis could offer some steps toward crime prevention and helps understand patterns, in terms of a timely distribution of crime types. Clustering is able to help identify criminal hot-spots and additional analysis may determine which areas require intervention. The aim of this study is to present an analysis of criminal information related to Hungary, in annual and monthly breakdown.

Effect of pH, Carbonate and Clay Content on Magnesium Measurement Methods on Hungarian Soils

More exact information on soil nutrient management is crucial due to environmental protection, nature conservation, decreasing sources for mining, general precaution, etc. Soil magnesium (Mg) analytical methods of potassium chloride (KCl), Mehlich 3 (M3), water (WA) and cobalt hexamine (CoHex) extractions are compared with an elemental analysis and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis. The ratio of the available to the total Mg content was calculated and compared on the whole dataset. The results showed that the linear regressions between all the pairs of Mg content measurement methods were significant. The linear relationship between the KCl and CoHex methods has the highest determination coefficient (R2 = 0.96), followed by WA–M3 (R2 = 0.68), M3–CoHex (R2 = 0.66) and M3–KCl (R2 = 0.60). The M3 solution demonstrated a greater capacity for extracting Mg from the soil. The second part is the analysis of the influence of CaCO3, pH, soil texture and clay content on the measurable magnesium content of soils. It was established that the extraction methods, the soil and the classification method of the soil properties affect the evaluation. These results may help through the nutrient replenishment and the melioration of soils. These results can help the examination of mineral nutrients, especially the Mg uptake.

Multi-Stage Centralized Energy Management for Interconnected Microgrids: Hybrid Forecasting, Climate-Resilient, and Sustainable Optimization

The growing integration of nondispatchable renewable energy sources (PV, wind) and the need to cut CO2 emissions make energy management crucial. Microgrids provide a framework for RES integration but face challenges from intermittency, fluctuating loads, cost optimization, and uncertainty in real-time balancing. Accurate short-term forecasting of solar generation and demand is vital for reliable and sustainable operation. While stochastic and machine learning methods are used, they struggle with limited data, complex temporal patterns, and scalability. Key challenges include capturing seasonal to weekly variations and modeling sudden fluctuations in generation and consumption. To address these issues, this paper presents a novel three-stage centralized EMS for interconnected microgrids. The first stage involves comprehensive data analysis to extract meaningful patterns. The second stage introduces a hybrid forecasting framework that integrates stochastic (Prophet) with machine learning (BiLSTM) techniques to improve prediction accuracy under uncertainty. In the third stage, a modified linear programming approach leverages the improved short-term forecasts to optimize energy sharing between microgrids, with the aim of reducing operational costs, minimizing carbon emissions, and improving system stability under climate variability. The proposed EMS is designed to accommodate diverse microgrid configurations while maintaining computational efficiency. Four scenarios are considered to evaluate the proposed energy management strategy. The obtained results demonstrate that the proposed EMS significantly improves both forecasting accuracy and operational performance. The combined methods achieve the best performance among all tested models, with an RMSE of 0.0070, MAE of 0.0043, and R2 of 0.9988, corresponding to improvements of ΔRMSE = −0.2122 and ΔR2 = +0.7126 relative to Prophet. These substantial gains in predictive accuracy translate into more precise battery scheduling, reduced grid dependency, and optimized power dispatching, thereby significantly enhancing system efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. Overall, the results highlight the effectiveness of integrating hybrid forecasting with optimization-based EMS, providing a viable pathway toward high penetration of renewable energy sources in future power systems.

Nonlinear Static Analysis for Seismic Evaluation of Existing RC Hospital Building

Nonlinear Static Analysis otherwise known as pushover analysis will be used in this study to evaluate the seismic performance of an existing reinforced concrete (RC) hospital structure. This method aids in determining the structure’s ability to withstand lateral loads and calculating its local and global deformation requirements. The study begins with a thorough analysis of the geometry, materials, and structural elements of the structure, followed by a review of pertinent building regulations and codes. A finite element model in three dimensions of the hospital building is created, encapsulating the main features of the structure’s behavior under seismic loading. The lateral force method of analysis and static pushover analysis is then carried out and compared, and the findings are used to pinpoint crucial weak places, potential failure mechanisms, and regions needing additional research or fortification. Recommendations are given to improve the seismic performance of the current RC hospital building based on the pushover analysis’s findings. These adjustments can be made to the structural system via retrofitting techniques or to non-structural elements. For engineers, architects, and legislators concerned with the seismic assessment and renovation of hospital buildings and other crucial infrastructure, the findings from this study are valuable.
